12 gauge is better than 22lr except for its weight.

My ex girl friend Rose did not shoot “all the time like we do” she could shoot a six inch group all day at 100 with a war time smith corona o3a3 with a Numrich .22 barrel sleeve and bolt conversion. With an AR and freedom munitions 62 gr she shoots about the same. That’s a sample size of one but is an indicator.

I typically carry a zebra All steel ballpoint pen.. it seems very strong and I can purchase a whole bunch of them and have them in different places.. I have went through many TSA checkpoints concert checkpoints never had it questioned.. there are a lot of great strikes out there but what I really like is putting the pen up underneath the jaw and getting the nerve up there the person just crumbles to their knees in pain

I made my bug out bag video about 9 years ago and people to this day gave me all kinds of grief about why I titled it 72HR EDC. You never know what's or when something is going to happen and you may not be going home so what's the point of having a bug out bag at home. My philosophy was start with a bug out bag in your car, you can always discard things that you may not need if the situation calls for a GHB.

Spec Ops and survival are two different subjects. A 22LR is not an offensive weapon. It’s for foraging for food and E&E. You learn that the first day of survival school. As for defensive purposes a 22LR is lethal in the hands of a man who knows how to use it. Just ask the Israelis.

After that video... I'm further not sure if it was an ego thing or not. I definitely didn't get a ccw for an ego... otherwise, multiple people wouldn't be here today. On the other hand, law enforcement has an identical problem... at least that is what I see in videos on this platform... that officers tend to have the very ego that will get people killed. So, no, getting a badge is not an ego thing for me. As for my personal business... I'm not flashing anyone, badge or otherwise.😅

I just got my Atomic bear pen yesterday. Really nice but it does look like a weapon. The cap for the icebreaker won't come off. Other in that it's awesome.

I intentionally went and bought a savage 64 and quality Bushnell a year ago specifically as a survival tool but I've been shooting it so much lately almost like another tool for therapy lol. But ya..for 600$ i Got this set up with a few simple accessories and a stocked variety of ammo for different purposes. I got 600 36 grain standard velocity for small game, 200 40 grain velocitors for larger game, 300 40 gr subsonics along with 200 quiet lr(because they will be useful in different situations.. and finally a bunch of cci stingers~(250) just cuz they were on sale. I honestly feel more secure and prepared by investing in this 22 than I would have had I bought a 556 or 223. Every male in my family has one or more deer rifles including myself. But if and when the time comes, I have no doubt which gun I will carry with for almost any situation dudes and it's not my deer rifle or sks. It's my 22lr. I admit that if it was purely about p2p combat I would want an assault rifle but I don't have the money for 500 rounds of 5.56 and the sks is my step dads anyway. Tangent- I always shoot my deer in the neck. I know a 223 will drop large deer in tracks with a neck shot but I don't know if a 22lr would be the same. I imagine it would be pretty deadly still.

In a societal collapse, people are a real concern . Most probably equally as important as hunting small game for food source is defense. Yes a 22lr is another great tool to have, however you would also need a defensive rifle as well. As for wife and children picking up your 22lr, why would they not already have their own in this situation. You folks quit the arguments, you both have a very valid point. And yes a lever or bolt makes for a much more reliable 22lr package than a semi auto. And also yes, most would say centerfire ammo is slightly more reliable than is 22lr and trust me my friend , I too am an old man with quite an extensive collection of 22lr firearms as that is my true love, but I also have several battle rifles in larger caliber’s. Just an old man’s humble opinion, put two bucks with it and you can have coffee at McDonalds.

My shtf personality: Vest go kaboom 💥, no but really, marine corps infantry, security contractor, and now working as a firefighter/ paramedic in a rural department (will be going back to security contracting). From what i’ve seen a lot of people will not take care of themselves when it goes down, they already barely do it even with 1st world healthcare, if they don’t care about themselves why should i for them? A lot will leave this earth the first few months if it lasts that long.

For the uninitiated: OPSEC - Operational Security (keeping your status confidential). A.O. - Area of Operations (where you are & surrounding area). The Cold Steel (brand) ‘Bushman’ knife is a relatively lightweight, really tough knife, which have a handle or shaft attached to be used as a machette or spear. I haven’t tried this yet, but a couple of ‘SAM Splints’ or a ballistic panel could potentially be used as an ‘internal frame’ in a backpack, and perhaps a ballistic panel could be used as a splint on a leg (just an idea). I abused, and ‘batoned’ logs with, a Mora (Light My Fire) knife, and it is still going strong.

Cool points. Id like to bring up the tendency is to want to stab with the pin. That's what I thought. BUT.. I've discovered is you grib the point... Hit with the "glass breaker' The pen because it's a funnel shape makes it reverse triangle going into your grip. Stops the pin from going out the other side of your fist. ;) Give it a try!

Have you ever hiked long distance in an alicepack or similar backpack with and without the frame? I have. It's like night and day. Those 2 lbs of weight are significantly worth the comfort. It adds rigidity to the pack, the gap between your back and the frame allows airflow and If you utilize the waist belt, it properly distributes the weight partially onto your hips. It has utility after you get to a second location for transporting loads without a pack. The frame is non negotiable. If you want to go for a pack with a simpler and lighter frame, that's fine, but removing the frame altogether for the sake of weight management is shortsighted.
