You are right, I have always wondered my self on why born Muslims think that you have to read the Quran in Arabic to get rewarded when Allah clearly says that you will get rewarded “one time” if you read it in a language that “you don’t understand” which is Arabic. He even tells us to “stop”. This clearly shows me that I would have to read it in English if I want to get rewarded. That’s why I read it in two languages at once.

Even many born muslims/arabs, do not know arabic very well .. And not able to understand what they are reading in arabic... I agree that one more important aspect is intent, and basic learning and growth in whatever language.. Besides, Arabic is one of the richest and magnificence language ever , and beauty of Quran is at it's high in arabic....But it's up to born muslims/arabs to understand, that even for the well prepared student to learn arabic, it well take time and an important effort, to be able to learn and understand authentic Quran in arabic .... it is our duty to be understanding and to help encourage encourage non arabs/born muslims to learn and practice gradually arabic, knowing that it is a process that takes time and requires patience .. The word benefit... is a very dangerous word for any human to use in a negative way. Anything did with the right intention while seeking the help of our Lord is enough. Not only will a person find the complete reward for the good deeds he/she has offered with Him, but he will also find his reward multiplied, as Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {And whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward.} [Quran 73:20] My mother is a Canadian revert and your 100% right about everything your saying. It was a challenge for her with the community and especially some of the comments. Alhamdulillah, she made it through it and has her own programs with people who appreciate and love her. We, humans, are not perfect and though we might have the best intentions knowing where they come from and where we come from is vital. I don't always blame people for there comments I try to understand where they come from. Sometimes I just smile nod and walk away. We can't always change people and sometimes having discussions with them is pointless. What I have learnt is I try my best to please my lord and take everything with a grain of salt. God Bless.

Salaam, Sister.....Can you please tell me what audio you're using?....I've been doing some videos, but never seem to get the audio (sound) right........Your point of view is correct....It is also the same belief some people have when it comes to delivering the sermon (khutbah),....that it should only be delivered in the Arabic language. This is also not true....How can people be exhorted in a language they don't understand?....Carry on doing what you're doing......YOU'RE DOING GREAT!

I also agree regarding the khutbah, but luckily it seems very few masjids here in the US insist on doing Arabic only, I think theyve finally realized no one learns that way. For my sound Im actually using a very cheap lapel microphone from Amazon. Its okay, but picks up background sound very easy so you have to be careful. You're right, doing the khutba in Arabic is not an obligation. It can be done in any other language that's best understood by the majority of the attendees or the mother tounge of that nation in which the khutba is taking place. However, the imam who is doing the khutba when quoting a verse from the Quran it has to be uttered by it's original form which is Arabic, and then followed with an English interpretation of that verse, so everyone will be on track on the objective of the khutba.

According to Dr.Zakir Naik i mean i heard from him that Don't follow the follower of religion(Islam) follow the religion(i-e Islam and Quran).But u know it will be more good if u only learn to recite the Holy Quran in Arabic language.And one more thing there is no 3rd person between u and Allah so don't listen to people only that they have more knowledge then u about Islam.

I must say, that sister is right though. One has to learn Arabic in order to recite the Quran. It's about the recitation itself that it has to be in the original language Arabic as exactly as it phonetically was revealed by Angel Gabriel onto the prophet Muhammad. And through that original recitation comes the rewards and gets the Angels hover the place. It's the sacred letters of Allah's words that connected in a harmonic way by which form numbers in the background, and the formation of verses after verses all systematically organized and prioritized keeping perfect rhyme and rhythm vibrating through the universe that's so sacred to Allah's miracles and onto His servants. Quranic words have soul which is from Allah, and that soul will witness on judgment day who recited those words. Reading them without Arabic it's as if you're carrying a beautiful shell through your whole life but it's empty from inside. Meaning - reading those verses in other languages would render those characteristics mentioned a loss. In one's journey while learning Arabic he/she can still read the tafseer (English interpretation of the Quran) to absorb the meaning of the verses and to follow Allah's guidance in those verses. If Arabic not important why then all of mankind will be speaking Arabic on judgment day and the judgment will be proceeded in Arabic only not in other languages (rhetorical question).

Dear sister, many have claimed in the past that only reading the Koran in Arabic is now useful. this is not true, because even for your effort, the Koran in a foreign language, not Arabic, will be rewarded twice by God. It would of course be even better if you at least learned and understood the prayers (prayer texts) in Arabic, even if that was later. Dear sister, it is only important that you have the best possible translation, e.g. by Rudi Paret, who reads the Koran, because, as you know, there are unfortunately a lot of bad translations, sometimes deliberately wrong translations, on the market. So again, just for the effort of the non-Arab Muslims and new converts to Islam who try to read the Koran with difficulty in Arabic or in English, French or Russian at all, no matter what language is, God rewards these people several times for that so-called never the pure intention. I wish you and all new converts continue to believe strongly and Allah be with you. Amadeus

If you learn Arabic in the sake of Allah, you will be rewarded tremendously. Besides, it's called interpretation not translation. The Quran can not be translated. Thank you for your efforts.
