I also think Tsuki's other secret weapon is how clean her moves are. Like I watched Haram's fancams and I commend her awesome facial expressions but the first time I watched the first thing I noticed, (on every other members fancam too) is that her dancing was not as sharp and attractive as Tsuki's. You see Tsuki's dancing is so sharp and clean that it's almost robotic. Combined with her facial expressions it gives a flavour that can't be found in other fancams.

[SEGUE] I'm so sorry to talk about another idol whilst talking about specific idols on the vid but... I know this is repetitive coming from your past live stream but if your interest is piqued, can you pls do a short/in-depth analysis on TO1 Kyungho's stage presence? I noticed that he's one of the few idols that understands how to utilize their posture as a means to embody an aura or 'feel' congruent to the song's concept and lyricism that makes his performances have a lyrical vibe to it. If you want to take a deeper look to his performances, I suggest you to look at his 'Count 1, 2' and 'Son of Beast' fancam, 'Hard Carry' fancam and 'Criminal' cover performance. I'm interested on what u think about his stage presence.

@mymoonbebe74502 жыл бұрын
The only thing I'd like people to understand is that Tsuki's facial expressions are part of the concept of the song. If you see the other members fancams, they're doing those fast changing expressions as well. The exaggerated facial expressions are part of THIS CONCEPT. If you go to previous Tsuki fancams she's not doing those expressions because it's not part of the concept. It's really impressive the ability Tsuki has for a performance like Gingamingayo, but it's not like she's going to do it EVERY TIME and tbh, it shouldn't be the standard for others either... stage presence is NOT just facial expressions, it's a combination of a lot of factors. So NO, if an idol is not changing expressions every 2 seconds matching the lyrics of the song it doesn't mean they don't have stage presence, people need to understand that it would be CRINGY for idols to do this if it's not part of a concept.
@bowwie62 жыл бұрын
Oh yes. I'm kinda concerned about the next comeback - what if Tsuki doesn't do her facial expressions similarly to Gingamingayo, will people be disappointed? I feel that there will be this kind of pressure on her, even though as you said, the facial expressions were connected with the concept.
@tootsipop2 жыл бұрын

The entire point of those facial expressions is to BE UNSETTLING. @@bowwie6 This is her job, to be an idol, not to satisfy all people (something impossible...), If people feel disappointed when they realize she doesn't do the same exaggerated expressions, then they was following her just because of that, not because they really like her. I think that it's not necessarily the fact that she's an incredible dancer (which she is), but it's what stands out in her incredible dancing. her movements are clear and she has near perfect musicality, which makes her moves match the song and the facial expressions perfectly and without ever missing a beat. when you see non main dancers go viral, it's because they also have great musicality, even if they aren't the best dancers in other aspects. it makes the performances that much more entertaining and captivating, since it's satisfying to watch.

@@katgreer6113 it's essentially just the innate ability to be good at musical things. if we're talking about dancing, think maybe having near perfect rythmn, being able to be perfectly on beat, having the ability to just pull attention to you when you're performing and things of the sort. these can be taught, however some people are just born with that sort of talent, and when you put years of training on top of that, you get performers like tsuki, who are extremely entertaining to watch

as a former theater performer, i think part of what makes Tsuki being currently used as the face of “stage presence” is because her facial expressions (emphasis on this one) is somewhat on the middle ground. It is not too “animated” but it is also not too subtle. Though this isn’t the case for almost all of her performance as there are some that can be considered as a bit “theatrical” (which isn’t a hate btw), majority of the time her facial expressions have found a point where it is not too underwhelming for the viewers or too off-putting (of course, this one is subjective. But i personally never found her facial expressions as too much). Also, i think what makes her stand out is because with the whole concept of their comeback, her facial expressions and overall vibes somehow is capturing because it makes you feel that she is acting whatever theme (story) there might be on the song. [i’m not sure if i am even explaining it properly but i can’t seem to properly execute my thoughts so leave it as it is]. Overall, for this 4th gen of Kpop, I would say that Billlie is on the top-tier list of groups that are killing it on the part of stage presence and overall execution of any performances (do note i said the group and not just one member because all members have a great stage presence). I honestly do hope that their company can use Tsuki’s popularity by taking the right direction in promoting Billlie on both SK and internationally by putting them on the spotlight whatever chance/opportunity they are given rather than suddenly just putting them on the basement (ex.: cherry bullet [they are quite known at the SK because of their debut song but FNC, of course, did not handled them well)

I don't think she practices just to gain the right facial expressions and I don't think the title "standard of facial expressions" needs to be taken off from her either. They never gave up, and came back with more smiles than ever. I love them so much, their discography is perfect for now, not a single pass, all around their lore and concept. I sure hope people will see with their next comeback that all the members have something to shine with. Purple Kiss and Billlie have become my 4th gen ults for a reason, they're all just so darn talented. Honestly, I have to agree with your stage presence pyramid! Although for me Sua and Haram share that top spot, they're both just incredible. And I feel that Billlie as a group just works well together overall; personally I haven't noticed much of an imbalance between OT7 on stage (but maybe that's because I've followed them from pre-debut and don't have a bias). Tsuki might have shined the brightest in this comeback (mostly because it was her fancam that was released first, and this particular concept has focused choreography that fits the cute/quirky sort of vibe she pulls off really well), but they're all phenomenal dancers and the choreography allows them to each have a moment to shine, so it helps to keep your gaze from zeroing in on just one person for the whole stage. For me personally, I feel that Moon Sua has been the most powerful performer right from the first debut stage, and she (along with Haram and Sheon) seems to adapt best to different songs/genres/concepts. Haram and Sua have super good chemistry onstage too, would love to see the two of them doing a rap/vocal subunit someday!

i recall back in the days where i used to perform on stage, my teachers would be the most nitpicky about facial expressions and body language, as they needed to match the song we were performing. imo, tsuki pretty much understood the assignment and took the extra credit, but i do agree that while she did super well in gingamingayo, we need to see if she will keep this energy for different concepts (meaning her facials will match the concept) but im really glad to see billlie's hard work paying off.

love love LOVE how you made the live stage mix match up to the song as a way to round out/end the whole video!

No one is saying that she’s the standard. We’re just tired of everybody hating on her for literally no reason…. People like to call the idols that wink once in a song the standard. Like no every performer is different and people just need to expect that. The “standard” performers are usually the center of the group.

This was a really great video. I feel like everything I've thought in my head was explained perfectly in this video (eg. masculine vs feminine). I agree that Tsuki is not as versatile. I think she really does excel in the fun, quirky & cute performances. Personally, I will agree & say that I think Haram and Moon Sua have the best stage presence in the group so far. It is for sure too early to give anyone that title, but Moon Sua is honestly a great performer. I find Haram to be very similar to Tsuki in the way that they both have very exaggerated facial expressions that aren't for everyone (I really love it personally), but I find Haram to be a little more versatile. Also I know this is probably more of an unpopular opinion, but I personally love watching Haruna perform. She is not very overt, but I find her to radiate this very mysterious type of aura with some innocence. It's super interesting to me!

i feel really bad for her at times. with the amount of hype she's getting, it can be hard to keep up with expectations... especially when you're being called "the standard". i hope she doesn't stress about needing to live up to what people want from her. it can be a very hard way to live.

TASTE on having Moonsua in all four boxes of the stage presence quadrant 💐 you've got my attention on Haram with this as well. I have to say though that I'm surprised to see Siyoon at the bottom. Consider maybe doing the types for all of the Billlie members? Thank you Cheryl!! ❣️

Just as you said stage presence is more to be subjective now adays so there can't be a standard there will be more as a preference... Definitely if someone has a great stage presence it's what it is but the word best is kinda debatable most of time
@chansky2352 жыл бұрын
Ok I have a small question about your criteria: is aura basically just more of a vibe the idol gives off? I don't know if there's anything else that you notice about an idol that makes you type them as masculine/feminine.

IMO, tsukki’s stage presence is paired by the charisma in her look. She’s both has good expressions and a good face to sell it. Everyone in billlie has a similar quality of expressions imo, but the duality shows more drastically on tsukki

I personally feel like tsuki did set a standard. I think all idols should have facials, and presence like hers. Most idol stages I watch people are blank faced, whivh always takes away from the performance. Part of idols jobs is to perform, and everyone should take notes from tsuki and billlie i think.

Yes! You have explained why I like Tsuki so much better than I could 😅. Her aura totally captivates me, and I'm thinking that it could be the reason why I have a strong preference for Japanese idols in kpop.

Oh and another unpopular opinión... I think Moon SuA is way better that Tsuki in this concept. Her fancams are just AMAZING. The thing about Tsuki is that her facial features along with her hair and clothes makes her look caricaturesque, but Moon SuA is just pure POISE on whatever concept, her 10 years of training are showing. But yeah... Haram is the best of them in Gingamingayo.

For me, stage presence is about versatility, not going the same thing every time but adjusting to the mood, the crowd, the angles of the camera, the people around you, that does it for me
@IstanbaldlegendsSungjinDOandKe2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for insightful video, the one thing i disagree tho is siyoon, she captures my attention every single comeback by her delivery of lines and overall pretty alluring aura, so i think her place is at least middle tier (for my subjective view even middle upper)

I know it's soo unrelated but 15:28 looks like food pyramid 😭😭 Anyway, personally Tsuki's constant facial expression is not really my thing, but i acknowledge her hard work and she deserves to be praised for it.

hey! this isn't related to the video but I got inspired by your stage presence ranking series and I am a huge fan of NCT so I analyzed NCT Dream's group chemistry and individual stage presence, and I noticed that Haechan possesses all 3 archetypes as well (dominant-charismatic-sensual), just like cai bing and yeri. I might be wrong so maybe you can do NCT Dream in your next analysis because based on my analysis, out of all the units in NCT, the dream unit have the most balanced chemistry together. They actually remind me of itzy and red velvet. btw loved your video💕

for those you ranked at bottom tier, I'd say a key factor is their consistency...siyoon was good at ringxring but fell off for the next comebacks...suhyeon was nice at snowy night but only for a couple of performances..she was not consistent...but I don't really mind, as of now...they're still a young group and I'm excited to see them grow...esp with their unique discography

I watched your video the day you posted, but after watching the Kick It cover and now their La Cha Ta cover, I totally see why you said Tsuki shines more in quirky/(bright imo) concepts like GingaMingaYo. She doesn't stand out much to me in Kick It compared to the rest but her presence was so good in La Cha Ta. But honestly she is a great performer and the rest of Billlie are fantastic. I can't wait for their next comeback, they have become my top 3 ggs I love your vids

Ok after this video, i HAVE to see you analize Sakura since there was literally so much debate on if she was a great performer or not since produce put her on a pedestal. So i would really like to see your take on it but i would also like to hear from you (sorry if you already talked about this) what makes a ''perfect/good'' center of a group (maybe even as a separate video?). note: im absolutely not doubting Sakura btw, also since she's literally one of my ults lol, im just curious about everglow-up's take on it :)
