Not paying alot of attention to David Gilmour for the last 15 years has you missing a master evolution.

Ya know... My girlfriend had me listen to some stuff from On An Island and it was much better than I had expected. No offense to Gilmour - who is one of favorite guitarists - but I wasn't ever wowed by About Face or The Division Bell, so I lost track of his work. And, yeah...I think I'm going to do some catching up. I definitely missed some really good stuff.

@@BleedingEdgeProg Understandable. The Division Bell album, which was overproduced, comes to life live as does David. Every one of his songs are much better live. I suggest watching the Pulse Concert 1994, Live at Gdansk 2006?, Live at Pompeii and Remember that Night to really see how he has evolved.

Simply put, if there was no David Gilmour there would be no Pink Floyd

Also, Roger's 'Amused To Death' is a masterpiece. Head & shoulders above all his other releases.

Oh...that's such a challenge you present. I have a rather intense dislike of him as a human, plus I've seldom enjoyed the solo work I've heard. Seems odd to think that, because so much of him is in Floyd and I love them. So...seems reasonable to think I might like his solo work at least a little bit. Doesn't help that he insists on singing and his vocals were among the weakest moments of Floyd for me. Maybe I'll get a bit drunk and give this a shot someday.

You should give the 'On An Island' record a listen. You may find some tracks very enjoyable.

My girlfriend got me to listen to that one. Kinda like The Division Bell, there were parts I liked well enough, but I just didn't really love it. Possible that it's one of those that takes repeat listens to have an impact (My classic example of that for me is Marillion's Marbles, which didn't grab me from the start and it was only after playing it as background music at work that one day I suddenly realized: I LOVE this album!), but I haven't gotten back to it, yet.

Oh he's been a busy lad. But a lot of his music was merely internal, and with family since his last solo album. Yes, this new one hits the spot, and in fact another track dropped today which features his daughter Romany, who is a spitting image of a young David, and seems to have inherited some of that brilliance as well. Watch these two, then watch the explainer for the new track: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnjHdphurtVliqs ( David Gilmour with Romany Gilmour - Yes, I Have Ghosts (Von Trapped Series) ) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipDKgpJ6at6bd6c ( David Gilmour and Romany Gilmour - Kokineli ) Can you imagine having David as your dad and music teacher? Then watch him beaming with pride as she knocks out an incredible vocal in essentially one take: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnS0lH6LqcxsocU ( David Gilmour - Between Two Points (Explainer) )
