Great idea for sure! I eventually had to super glue the velcor to the fiberglass camper shell for the lights and the covers. The heat effects the velcro glue and they come loose. Thanks for sharing.

JC. They make vents for the top of your cap that will let some of the heat out and not let the water in. Some even have crank handles so you can close them completely. You may also want to get a portable fan or something to cool it down so you can sleep. John

@@RadReelingFishing It wouldn't be hard to run some 12v to the truck bed,the taillight wires are already there, just follow them with some 10awg.They make those roof vents with built in fans and you can add other small things like recharge ports for your batteries, phone, etc. Add a 2nd battery ( a deep cycle) behind your truck seat and have it isolated from your system but capable of having it charged by the alternator.Whatever accessories you run back there will only pull power from that deep cycle then. It's how campers and RV's work. I'm making my '96 Explorer into a mobile fishing camp.

Nice one JC! I like your thinking with the way you have laid that out. A few suggestions - a like thinking person has already said a rod rack in the ceiling. I would have glued the velcro to the blackout cloth - to hell with all that sewing! Plus I would put some gas struts on that top tailgate door. Some means to lock it from inside would keep you secure when sleeping too. Stay safe & well - see ya! 👍👍

JC One other think for your camper that I learned from experience. Have some way to secure (lock) yourself in from inside the camper when you are sleeping. This will keep unwanted critters like raccoons, bears and bad guys, from sneaking in on you. John

I am presently working on the same thing - even have the same cot, except in canvas - and for the same reasons you've mentioned. I did go a little beyond, though, with adjustable two-tiered metal shelves across from the cot, upon which I will store a Bluetti and 2 Walmart plastic 2-drawer "dressers," and adjacent to those a portable fridge. On the top shelf will go a microwave, a satellite receiver and tv. (Yes, I do like some of the creature comforts of home.) Outside of that I'm giving thought to what I want for storage under the cot.

B-7000 glue. Heat or cold doesn't affect it. Time saving and made to last. It's also not instant drying, so you have time to rearrange if need be. Once it cures, it's a solid bond.

Great non-build build! I love the plastic storage towers! I have plans of using those for my van build - gonna take the top drawer and plumb it with flexible tubing that when closing the sink drawer, it will cause the flexible tubing to effectively bend on itself and create a P trap for odors... also you could add some plywood to that tailgate and a piano hinge to extend the tailgate into a deck space... JUST SUGGESTIONS! YOUR BUILD CAUSES INSPIRATION! 🤩🥰😇

For that liftgate you can buy some liftgate prop rods and throw that stick away,it's a accident waiting to happen. If I was doing them I'd buy the prop rods for a old 1966-77 Ford Bronco, the liftgate on them were heavy, steel frame and glass so they'll have no problem holding up that plywood. They make hydraulic strut rod kits that come with brackets and are not to bad on price.I prefer how the OE style were and they never wear out,but you can not ride around with the liftgate up (well you shouldn't) because to close them you just lift up on the liftgate and then lower it.When you hit a bump it will bounce up and slam shut. The OE style is $59 from both Toms Offroad and Bronco Graveyard, the hydraulic is $49 from Toms but doesn't look like Bronco Graveyard has them.
