No Build Xterra Camper

I am always looking for new ways to build out my camping set up, and this is just one idea/iteration I had! How do you set up yourself? Any tried and true things you always do? Would love to hear!

I have an '08. I never thought of putting the bench seat there! Of course! I have a great firm foam mattress that fits with the wider seat gone. I'm short, so I can stretch out. I'm here to learn how to do the rest. Thank You!

I'm 6'1 and I've stretched out in my '05 after taking the benches out and tossing some pillows in the gap. I don't think I'll ever get rid of this truck. As the 5th owner of what others have given up on, I will keep this thing alive. I prefer my explosions to be on the inside of my engine, not the entire electric car itself. Long live the utility vehicle!

I just bought my 2007 Xterra about 4 months ago, not much more than a rolling parts car. But i picked it up cheap, and i know what it can be, because i had an Xterra many years ago, so each month i get something fixed on it. Im going to try car camping, and since this is also my daily driver, it has to be no-build simple; you, my friend, have given me some great ideas. Maybe one day you'll get to see my pony on KZbin! Just bought a 2010 Xterra - one of the reasons was the flat fold-down seats so I can sleep in the back. Being able to remove the cushions is bonus. How do you secure the food bin so it doesn't slide off while you're driving? I see all those hooks and wonder how best to use them.

Hi Sue, congratulations on your X. I use a bunch of different types of fasteners. My favorite is an old Subaru rear-gate cargo net I have had for years. I dont know if your X has this feature. Mine is a 2006. The front passenger seat folds flat. There is a handle on the right corner near the headrest. I like how you did this no build. I am working on making mine a camper. I thought I could gat away with not removing the seat to sleep. I am 5"4" and it is a squeeze unless I remove that. FYI, I hear Jackery is overrated. Prepper princess has alot of videos on generators as well as Reewray outdoors.

Hi Rick. First off, thanks for watching. I am 98% saying yes. If you have the seat all the way forward and fill the gap. You can also sleep driver's side and remove the first aid kit in the rear hatch and that would definitely work. Be well, my friend.

Hello Crissgen, yes, you will fit. It is 6 feet 7 inches long with the seat all the way forward. You will just need to stuff some items if you use the 8-gallon action packer. It is a little short. What year nissan xterra is this? So after you removed the seats and that bench thing on the end, how tall was it so you can sleep. Is it really tall for someone with height to sleep with no bending their knees?

@@campshackproductions3725 oh wow 6 ft 5 is great with no knee bending I'm 6 ft 2 and most suvs I think would require diagonal sleeping. I really wanted xterra for this purpose but the 04 to 08 I think models had huge transmission blow out issue

@@hatersgotohell627 If you are talking about the strawberry milkshake, you are correct. However, I think that issue goes up to 2012, but I may be wrong. That has happened once before, LOL. I have seen a few videos on how to fix or bypass the issue. If you are looking, try to find a 4x4 offroad version with a locking rear differential. Turn off the background music. It is beyond me why KZbin content creators think playing background music over their voice is somehow enhancing their videos, it is not, it is distracting. We came to hear you, not to fight background music which quickly becomes extremely annoying and intrusive. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus while concentrating on your voice they must also concentrate on tuning out the music; frustrating. Your background music ruins an otherwise exceptionally good presentation.
