I was so tempted too this weekend many vendors had rts and pre-orders I stayed away but it was hard. I had to close Facebook everytime. What is helping me is putting my wax in a spreadsheet from Martha . It has been an eye opening to see how much wax I have 😮

Knowing your triggers is key to staying on a no buy. I have to stay off my phone at night. I found most of my purchases are late at night or even after midnight. 😂 I failed miserably last night and purchased some wax from a Canadian vendor. My first vendor wax, so Im super excited!! Good for u for being able to back out!!! ❤❤

I agree- the temptation has been REAL! You’ve been killing the no buy! I’ve caved a time or two but we need to remember that cutting back on buying is a work in progress! Give me some of your willpower 🤣

You are doing fantastic. All you can do is try and I’m sure you know that in the past you would have just purchased and not thought to back out. That’s fantastic. I’ve been reading more and watching tv shows that I’ve been meaning to watch for a long time and that has certainly helped me. I also made up my mind to only buy from a three vendors the rest year and not more than about 5 -7 blends. I think they each have only one preorder left in the year. Now that I’ve made that decision I feel comfortable and don’t plan on buying more than that. My goal this year was to have less than what I started the year with and that’s kept me motivated.

It's a good strategy! You have been very motivated all year and i'm sure it will feel great to have less wax than you started when end of year comes!

I have my struggles too. You are not alone. My no buy ends on June 27th but I already caved and went in on the Rose Girls pre order for July 😅. Then I started a one-time Scentsy Club but will have it actually starting on June 27th. It's funny how insanely we rationalize our purchases. 😂 Hang in there. You are doing great. I love your video's and I am rooting for you.😊

@@AlexisSchlueter thanks! I’m so excited. I’ve been going through some partials I had open. I realized that no matter how much wax a container is holding it takes up the same amount of space, so emptying up some seasonally appropriate partials & clearing that space for eventual new bars is my current focus

good morning Alexis, I know and understand what you mean. I can hear the struggle in your voice. Thinking ahead of the potential tempt also. I told myself it won’t be easy, but for me, I need to just not look and that is definitely easier said than done sometimes. I think last week was hard for me leading up to Friday because I had my back surgery on my mind and I was trying to distract myself. After seeing some amazing Rose girls pre-orders come in and looking at the RTS that she was offering there were quite a few that I really wanted. I decided to It was really hard for me to not load my cart. I will say I went back-and-forth on loading my cart because I hardly ever see blends that are offered with beach bonfire. They all sounded so good. I remember thinking in the whole videos that I watched that certain ones sounded amazing but now I can tell you I can’t even remember what they were called. This past weekend has been frustrating because I’m dealing with quite a bit of pain from the surgery. I was excited to get Knowles Farms last week, but the week is such a blur. I remember I love coastal embers, but I just haven’t felt up to really going through the box again. I received sweet tooth as well and I haven’t felt up to going through it. I think taking it opening by opening is a good strategy, but for everyone it will be a little different. I just try to keep reminding myself that I have enough wax. I do know that Beth is going to be offering some fall blends and that’s going to be hard for me , I’m so proud of you for sticking it out! To load your cart and walk away is a huge accomplishment! During a no or low buy I keep myself motivated by having a running list of accomplishments in my notes app. Every time I don’t shop something I list it and doing this makes me feel like I met a goal or did something positive for myself. Perhaps if you are tempted to buy you can take all your wax out of storage and look at it all together. I did that a few years ago and since then I have consistently worked on not having more wax than I can use in one year. Not looking at the preorder lists also helps from becoming tempted to buy. I’m not shopping BBMB this July which is hard for me, but I still have clubs and I’ll probably try just a few of them a few months later with club. I rather keep up my no-buy, since I don’t want wax shipped in this heat. Remember to be kind to yourself and that you have been doing great.

I have had a tough week as well, but like you I emptied my cart! With the RTS’s I am going to have to just stay away from social media - because I know there will be items that will be very tempting. I also know that the vendors will pour the scents again and I can grab them then. I agree with you also that the weather has been really hot and I am not sure how well some of the waxes will ship, especially when they get delayed sometimes. Let’s keep working thru our stash and cannot wait to see what you have been warming! Have a great week!

This Friday will be a lot of BBMB reviews and some vendor empties. I'm excited to share. Great point about staying away from social media. Everytime I get on social media I get sucked into something!

You are rocking this! I was tempted this week for a lot of things! I saw Harper James had a preorder and she is on my list of new vendors to try but I looked and skipped out of my cart, so that was a win! I ended up ordering some Scentsy on the black market, someone was selling scent circles for $1 and wax bars for $3 so I spent the rest of my commission that I was saving for July 1st on that order. I did order on TEMU, I ordered like 2 new bathing suits and two new dresses for work, but I did purge my closet last month buy 2/3 so I rationalized that purchase lol I’m in that mood where nothing I own for clothing I love. I want to order books too I got back into reading but I have 8 books here that I purchased from like Dollar Tree or Amazon over the past year that I haven’t touched so I’m forcing myself to read them first and then once all 8 are read I then can buy 3 more. Our annual yard sale is next month or should I said first weekend in August so I am purging a lot of unnecessary clutter and duplicates so that should be helpful

It's so hard lol for books it's hard to not buy some of them because I can't get them at the library. So I buy. Ugh!

I'm on a low/no buy myself. I know that I am going to do L & S July opening, but other than that, I don't have anything else on my list. I'm even thinking of skipping L3 Loafapalooza. The thing that helps me the most is unfollowing or hiding the Facebook groups. I unfollowed five vendors because I didn't even want to be tempted. I hid the other groups so I have to actively go in and look. I'm less likely to do that and be tempted vs stumbling upon an RTS post. I found myself making these $100+ orders with vendors outside my typical buy list and while the wax was GREAT, I found myself just spending and accumulating so much more wax simply because I was following the group, seeing the posts, allowing myself to get hyped up or feel FOMO. I am going to limit myself to 1-3 vendors from now on. Because I also buy candles from BBW and Goose Creek, so I need the space and time for those fall/holiday candles as well.

yeah the openings in July are going to be tough. I've unfollowed or left a lot of FB groups. It's a good strategy to not see things!

This week I was tempted to buy from Fantasy Wax Melts because she had a Bridgerton release - not a clue if I would’ve liked the scents, but theme alone was the temptation. I resisted though! 😬

I haven't been tempted because life has been so hectic. Everyday I have something outside of work that I committee to. Maybe that'll help. But also the important thing is you survived these so that's the takeaway. If second and spruce has a rts I will go in because I missed the pre order

I find that with all the wax I have, am really overwhelmed with what to melt. With having so much I don't even know if I like the scents or how they even perform for me.

Yes, that for sure comes with a larger collection. Try pulling out melting baskets so it's a little less overwhelming when you go to pull a scent for the day

You are doing so good! Way to go on Traverse City and the book buy!! I know how you feel though - the struggle is real. I know for sure I will be ordering the BBMB, and also I will probably place an order with Lavender & Speckles. That will be a first time buy for me, and I'm on the hunt to replace some Scentsy bars that are in my club. My goal for my Scentsy club is to find vendor wax I like just as much, so that I can whittle down my club...one bar at a time if I have to. Since I don't have very much vendor wax (a couple of loaves from DW, a couple of 8oz bags from KAE's and about 5 clams from KAE's), I feel like I will be okay. Scentsy is where my current problem is - I just have way too much of it, and my club is way, way to high. As far as vendor wax, I'm trying very hard to take it one new vendor at a time. Again - awesome work this week on your no buy!! Thank you for sharing this journey with us!!

Alexis, your doing wonderful job you should be proud of yourself , and think in the positivity of all the days you didn't buy anything, l myself did terrible l went crazy because of my panic attacks of stress because of the loss of my son and my mom in less than one year in a half but l am working with a group and l still did good l didn't buy from all vendors but understand l think l could use that money on other things like banking , traveling etc,so your doing a wonderful job l am trying to go on a no buy in October 😢 keep it up 👍 your doing marvelous 💕

I remember when I went three or four weeks without buying SGA last year. I had been buying weekly and then told myself I needed to slow down. I remember missing that first preorder, but then it felt really good not to order every week. Then, the next couple of weeks were easier. But then I got that FOMO again and caved. I passed on a preorder this weekend, and it was tough at first, but now I feel better that I did. I know I won't have that same restraint next weekend. 🫣 I’m proud of you! 😊

I feel like if we buy every week then we will be just drowning in wax. I'm guilty of the same but I am trying to remember that scents come back!
