Good decision to stop and take a breather. A few years ago I was hacking along a trail on my KTM 500 exc in a forest, totally knackered and trying to get those last few km done to get to my target (sliding back on the seat is a dead giveaway of tiredness). Anyway, long story short, the bike threw me balls first at a tree in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully I managed to get back on the bike and ride out. Dumped it once I hit civilisation and called an ambulance convinced I'd smashed my pelvis. Turned out I'd only compressed a couple of vertebrae and my nether regions swelled up to impressive proportions and turned black for a few days. Lovely. The current dislocated shoulder is coming along slowly. Have fun and be careful.

HiPedro thanks greatly enjoy your trips, Have noticed when you turn left your tank bag touches the horn button,Had the same on my CB500XA I have fitted a small bracket that sticks out and hits the tank bag first stopping the horn sounding which can cause distraction to others ,Safe travels keep up the good work .can send pictures of my mod If needed

Cheers! Yeah I know a Japanese fella who has that on his AT starter button, which also touches my tank bag on sharp right turns. Sure, send some pics to my fb page, thanks .Curious to see since it can't sit in the way of pressing the horn fast.

On average, how many hours do you spend on the bike? I've started doing some solo overland trips and I get a destination in my head that I need to get to and end up spending 8-10 sometimes 12 hours trying to get to this place. Towards the end of the day I find myself getting frustrated and feeling rushed. Does this happen to you? Is there a schedule you like to stick to when planning ahead?
@iPedroMota5 жыл бұрын
Morning until sunset usually, at times ride at night. I'm all too familiar with that feeling and it's up to yourself to recognize and manage it. What's the point of that frustration right? In the end it's something we do to ourselves. So we try to manage our expectations day by day, sometimes you can keep pushing for the goal but other times it is better to accept circumstances and adapt for the day otherwise you're chasing an idea where you want to be and the now becomes a chore. In your case you could adjust your riding time to an amount where you get where you want to be but also have peace of mind. Like in this video I was going to skip on an invitation but then I realized my goal for the day was a dead end so why stress. My adaption to circumstances was riding to to the next town for the night.

@@iPedroMota I appreciate the wise words. I will definitely keep this in mind.
@kitsachie.5 жыл бұрын
I only recently started overlanding and my advice to you is just focus on the ride not the destination. Start early enough in the morning so you don't get the feeling of rushing. The best part about long trips is the ride itself amigo. Take your time and enjoy the world for what it is and take plenty of stops to sight see and refuel your bike and mind.

Hey Pedro, I left a suggestion on Itchyboots channel that she should contact you. Don't know if she'll see that or if you know of her but she's your fellow Netherdutchlander motorcycle vlogger, has just done Asia to Holland on a Royal Enfield and is about to set off for Patagonia to ride up to Alaska. For some reason (maybe her striking blue eyes) she has 10 times as many subscribers as yourself. You two may benefit from comparing notes.

@iPedroMota5 жыл бұрын
People ask me that a lot but no one ever refused. They do want foreigner price though most of the time and sometimes I can get them to give me the unofficial price. If not I'll go find someone who sells fuel from their home/business.

Hey Pedro. Great videos. I have a couple of questions. First, I have a pretty narrow head and tried an LS2 helmet. It was pretty tight on the width. How well does it fit you? I noticed that you have all your luggage piled on the back of the bike. Is there a reason you don't use saddlebags to keep the weight lower? It would help lifting the bike after a get off and possibly even help avoid some. I know you'd need an exhaust shield.
@iPedroMota5 жыл бұрын
Used to ride with hard panniers, they got banged up over time and I wanted a bit more freedom off-road. I would like to get on a soft system to bring the weight back down but can't afford it atm. The ls2 is an L and I should have gotten an M since it's a bit too loose, but was sitting on the cusp between the two sizes. The M would have probably gotten a bit roomier over time but probably still on the tight side. I find that the hard edge of the headphone slots can irritate my ears sometimes.
@rhllnm5 жыл бұрын
@@iPedroMota I got some Nelson Riggs dual sport soft bags, since I couldn't afford anything fancy. They're not real big and they are not waterproof, but you don't need racks for them. I store my heavy stuff like tools and tubes in them. I still have a pile behind me on the seat/rack. Mines is a KLR 650.
@wileym5 жыл бұрын
@@iPedroMota Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for. I have a, so far, fresh adventure bike but a smaller one yet. Lots to do. I've been wondering about panniers vs soft bags and I agree, the soft ones seem better for most situations. I got one of those helmets in a medium. Too many pressure points but the large would flop around. Couldn't get the chin strap tight either.
@iPedroMota5 жыл бұрын
Something along the lines of AS Magadan soft panniers. Two separate compartments so a roll can still go on top.
@wileym5 жыл бұрын
@@iPedroMota Twisted Throttle has some good alternatives for a much more reasonable price. DrySpec and SW Motech have some good soft bags. Some don't need racks either which will save weight and make one less thing to break.

so why did you fell? i mean by now you probably know the minimum energy you need in order to ride a bike, AND that crappy terrain deplates that energy faster. ie only explanation i have is that you were dizzy from hunger/dehydration/exhaustion.
@iPedroMota5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it just happens and the silliest ones are at slower speeds. One day you can be bombing down the desert all day long, the next some of sand on an easy dirt road makes the front wheel go funny and you don't react on time. I was hungry and tired fore sure, but I'm like that often. More about lacking focus.
@ivok98465 жыл бұрын
@@iPedroMota photos.app.goo.gl/qEtkQ88JSgmogcij8 yeah, big bikes at slow speeds... that one was about me thinking clutch feathering is for sissies...then it stalled and then you're finding someone to help lift it up...in the middle of nowhere... seems to me you were looking at that guy instead of the road...and then half a second off-focus on that terrain is enough... then if i remember at which levels of exhaustion i rode and for how long....sheesh.....but damn it was worth it! btw. in some scenes in some videos you're screaming at the scenery in simillar places i scream when i see what's nature capable of. the scream of joy.
