A full length version of our latest expedition to Morocco. We tackle multiple on & off-road challenges and put our limited skills to the test with our big bikes. As always, in an attempt to save as much money as possible, we are as self sufficient as we can be. Enjoy!

Half way through editing this my hard drive self destructed (my fault) I lost about a months work…I came so close to binning it. Thanks for those kind words, it means a lot. I’m probably going to put out a series on this tour with all the arguments, banter & failures that didn’t make the cut, so business as usual. Stay safe buddy, glad you enjoyed it and I’m pinning your comment👍🏻

Thanks Matt. Your gonna love it. It doesn’t matter if you do a pure road based tour, dip your toe in off road (like we did)or go full Dakar there is something for everyone. Plus I think you’re going at the right time. There was large amounts of road works on some of the best roads (Atlas mountains) and I think they will be tarmac roads soon, so go ride them while you can. Safe trip and we really appreciate you taking the time to comment👍🏻

@silveriojohan Yeah I get what you mean. I have zero regrets going from a GS to a T7. I’ve beaten my T7 to death this year, 20,000 km, 10 countries and I love it more and more. Most of all though every time I swing my leg over it I feel like a Dakar hero😂 even though I’m terrible at off road riding! I guess it what makes you happy that matters most👍🏻 let me know how you get on with your bike choices in the future.

Thank you for your positive feedback and I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. There was a huge amount of footage cut out of this mini movie so I’m toying with the idea of telling the full story over a few episodes. A sort of in depth look at the trip. Anyway it’s appreciated that you have taken the time to comment. Stay safe and keep riding 👍🏼👍🏼

@@GreenString : actually, I "stumbled" on your episode by searching on the comparison of the Honda AT and the Yamaha T7 because I'm in the middle of deciding on which of both I will buy this year. What would be your advice pls when the criteria is to have a Overlanding bike and an occational soft of road track??? Already many thanks!!!🙂

@@hdan1867Well, both bikes are brilliant. The AT on the video is the flagship model, electronic everything. For me it’s over complicated, for my mate it’s brilliant. Ultimately if your going to spend the majority of time on the road get the AT ( it pains me to say that) but it’s true. Hope this helps a bit👍🏻

As always guys great video and looks an epic adventure. I know you like exploring off road on the big bikes and all credit to you both.. my gsa is definitely a tarmac only bike 😂. People dont release how hard off road riding can be, i tried it last year for the first time (after 30yrs riding) and struggled even on a lightweight CRF!! Ride safe 👍🇬🇧

Yeah I agree. Riding those bikes on the Trans Euro Trail in Spain is borderline stupid (with our skill level). I did a bit of research before we went on the TET facebook page and was told that the section we did was easy on any bike, and it was in most cases but still you can very quickly get out of your comfort zone. Jason did exceptionally well on the big Honda, the T7 is definitely an easier beast off road than my old GS…alas not easier on my backside on the long motorway sections😂 As always thanks for taking the time to comment, stay safe and keep riding👍🏻👍🏻

I'm really impressed. This definitely was an adventure. A tough journey to get to Morocco... a long highway journey... but an incredible rewarding adventure. Great video editing. Tough journey, gents. I really enjoyed watching. I'm so curious about the weather... In the vid you bought some souvenirs from the local man. What is the temperature in such a spot? Perhaps not that warm, but what about the 40km desert stretch? That seemed HOT?
@GreenString
@GreenString 2 ай бұрын
Typical desert temperatures for that time of year. I think the hottest it got was 34 degrees and you’ll notice in the evenings we were in shorts but had warm jackets on, not sure on temperature then but chilly. You could equally have an amazing road trip around Morocco we spent only €200 in Morocco for 7 days riding. Ferries are super cheap but a bit crap…. Oh and temperature on top of the fortress must have been high twenties but very strong winds ( my tripod was blowing over)

Fantastic video. Can I ask who you used for travel insurance??
@GreenString
@GreenString 22 күн бұрын
Hi, I didn’t take out any bespoke travel insurance. I had quite a bit of world wide medical cover through my credit card company. So certainly did not have 100% cover of everything. The bike was only covered in mainland Europe, which is no problem because cash is King in Morocco and really your dependent on the Locals to get your bike out ( which they will, very effectively, I’m sure) Jason on the other hand he did have 100% cover, but I don’t know who with. He also got immunised prior to departure. I didn’t bother. We both have very different approaches to negating risk, which is fun. Sorry I cannot be more useful👍🏻

Did I hear that correctly "transmission oil level is low"
@GreenString
@GreenString 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, the DCT oil level wasn’t actually low it was empty. Although this was not linked to the braking issue it was one of a couple of fluid levels that were not checked on his service ( by a Honda dealer) prior to departing.

@GreenString
@GreenString 2 ай бұрын
@@johna6968 Possibly? I mean, I’m blaming the Honda dealer for not checking but we had already covered over 1500 km before it became an issue and like you said some of that was off road so I guess the DCT was working hard. It’s difficult to pin point who or what was at fault but it was an easy fix.

Epic adventure, how did you find your tire choice? They look very road orientated
@GreenString
@GreenString 6 күн бұрын
Hi, we both had OEM tyres on so probably 80/20 maybe 70/30. Either way very road biased. We had huge mileage to cover on primary and secondary roads and I’d say only about 10, maybe 20% of the journey was off road. We also knew both Spain and Morocco would be super dry so the tyres we used were fine in “most” situations. That said we did get caught out a few times but if I’m honest it was rider error that caused us to go down the majority of the time. So in summary the tyres were ok for the location and time of year. Thanks for the great question. Stay safe and keep riding👍🏼
