I did work experience at the Irish News in May 97 and reported on the car bombing mentioned at 10:57 I had to call McMichael later that day to ask if loyalist groups were operating a no claim, no blame policy and he was quite arsey on the phone from memory. I believe he now works with addicts in Lisburn which is actually a good thing to do and far more noble than politics. The Bawnmore bomb was subsequently found to have been carried out by a group of UVF informers from Mount Vernon (ironically meaning the call to McMichael was a waste of time on my part as the UDA weren’t involved). I think the intended victim took the authorities to court many years later to show collusion had happened. Different world today thankfully.
