Regardless of whom the coach is, NEVER do one thing: don't start the midfield trio of Eriksen -Bruno - Casemiro. Bruno and Eriksen are CAM, they'll leave the defensive work for Casemiro, whom we all know is surviving on tired legs. The result - a weak midfield that will collapse to pressure, even if we score first. It happened against FC Porto, it happened against Ipswich, it happened a couple of times before the board decided to sack ETH. That midfield combination affects Bruno in that he doesn't get the needed support behind and he can't focus on ball distribution and long range shots, as captain he'll be tempted to fall back and support the midfield which could lead to some reckless tackles and unnecessary bookings. Eriksen and Casemiro can't protect our defenders so with such midfield combination, our defenders and goalkeeper will be under pressure. That combination is the one thing Ruud didn't do, see the results he got. Yes Ugarte couldn't start against Ipswich due to obvious reasons, understood. There has to be someone else in the squad that can partner Casemiro in midfield, NOT Eriksen. With Ugarte, Casemiro's workload reduces and he can perform better. It may look like I have something against Eriksen, not at all, but his inclusion in that midfield when Bruno is already there to do what he does weakens the midfield, then the team suffers.

Good analysis mate, but the main issue with that team is the embarrassing lack of football IQ especially with most of the so called senior players on huge wages. The technical quality of most of the players are also embarrassingly below average for a team of United standing. You can see these in their choice of passing, how they pass and their overall movement off the ball. The new Coach has a whole lot on his plate to fix because these players except for a few like Amad, Mazroui, and now Onana footballing abilities are amateurish at best.

It will affect the entire team positively, most people overlook it. Ruud got it right and he won three out of four, convincingly. Do you think we would get a draw against this current Chelsea side by starting Eriksen and Casemiro in midfield? I agree with you that we have too many deadwood - Eriksen, Maguire, Shaw, Evans..... Amorim is lucky that his first game was against Ipswich, because of that stroke of luck he just about got away with playing those three. The lack of pace in the midfield and defence is shocking, his biggest challenge is gonna be getting rid & bringing new players in. Ten Hag has left a squad that's a mess, the money spent & the wages paid to Antony, Hojlund & Zirkzee frightens me. Utd are stuck with so many players who are on silly money that need to exit the club asap. I feel for Amorim he has such a massive job to do that I wouldn't wish on anyone never mind such a nice guy.

Listening to the manager do his interview with Keano on sky, I can clearly state that we are in good hands. Most of what he said on sky was spot on. Especially about the players mentality on how they over think too much during the game. A mix of our academy players with some experience will see our playing style improve drastically.

I have to say that the performance we had today was not one of the best, but I am not angry either, because we are in a rough and initial phase, where the coach has just arrived and will have to fix day after day and week after week many things that are not working in this team, and we can only give him time and with time I am confident that we will see the identity and the imprint that Ruben Amorim will give to the team and hoping that the players will also recover and try to follow him and adapt to his game plan and his ideas. I also know that a victory would have been better, but in the end the draw seemed the fairest result from what we saw on the pitch... moreover we seemed disorganized, there was no phase of composure in the players, you can see that in the middle of the pitch we need a player with legs, speed and energy who can play alongside Casemiro or Eriksen... let's hope for Mainoo's return to the pitch. Finally we move on to the performance of the players where inevitably Onana is the MOTM of the match, he literally saved us with multiple interventions all fantastic, and I am very happy for him, he deserves much more credit and I hope he continues like this, then the defense with Mazraoui who I liked, a little less Dalot, I am happy with the return to the field of Luke Shaw, even if it will take a while to see him in a better condition, de Ligt good while Evans today not so good. Moving on to the midfielders, however, I did not dislike Casemiro as well as Eriksen but you could see that they were quite slow together, Ugarte on the other hand I personally liked how he entered in the second half, he gave a bit of rhythm, even if I repeat it seemed that they were unable to progress in the maneuver of the action, they seemed a bit slow today personally. Amad should have been the 10 even in the old system. Now he must be a 10 with either Bruno Mount, Garnacho or Zirkzee as the other 10/back up 10 unless or until other players come in from the market. Until we can get an established striker, we can use Hojlund and Rashford. I’m glad Amorim likes Garnacho, I think he’s young enough to be redeveloped as another potential 10. Like Flex said Amorim just needs to observe and keep the best ones and sell the ones that can’t do it, it’s that simple.

Man United fans hardly take the time to study their players, they just support the team in red shirts and white or black shorts. If Ruud started Eriksen and Casemiro against Chelsea, we would have lost. Eriksen is a good player but he's way past his prime, he's past the standard required to play for man united, the good news is we have someone better that plays his role, Bruno. Put Ugarte and Casemiro behind Bruno and you'll enjoy him, that was the key to the results Ruud had. Eriksen should be kept very far from our starting lineup, unless we decide to rest Bruno cos they're both CAMs. Even if Guardiola starts Eriksen and Casemiro in midfield, it'll be a weak midfield. These guys can't give what they don't have, fans need to understand these things. Of course Shaw isn't good enough, injured or not, he's not at Evra's level.

I’m going to say something controversial about Mazraoui. Did you see the athletic run from Amad? He ran by 3 defenders. Plp want MAZ at RWB. He’s gooos but not athletic enough to provide the type of offense a player like Alphonso Davis can. Dalot is also lacking quality. We need two wing backs for the system. Amad is wasted a RWB. But that can be a 2nd position. Bruno stay on the pitch for 90 mins every game. If Amorim truly has a system, goals should not flow only thru Bruno. Garnacho needs to go back to the bench. Same old United. Can't blame Ruben Amorim-he's just come in-but it's clear most of these players lack the physicality and intelligence needed at this level, regardless of the system. Amorim looked seething at full-time, likely realizing the poor squad he’s inherited. Beyond young talents like Mainoo, Garnacho, Yoro and Højlund, the rest are sellable. If the goal is a Premier League title by 2028, they'll need to overhaul the squad in the next three years. It’s going to be a long, tough season this year and in general.

And honestly EPL clubs have found that formation out, so they are 3 possible outcomes. 1) Either club signs 10 players for Amorim that would suit his system 2)the players buckle in and adapt to his system which take a long time 3)because the epl clubs have sorted out how to play against teams with 3 at the back, amorim dumps the tactics & plays to his team's strengths which 4231, 433 or 442. I hope he succeeds, but honestly don't see his 343 style doing wonders in the EPL talk more of winning the league or trophies

Managers haven't been allowed to do this in the past and Garnacho the young star, Rashford the poster boy and Bruno the captain could be INEOS stars and unsellable. If Hojlund is our best 9 and Monnt and Amad are our best 10s i don't see Amorim being allowed to bench and ultimately sell those players mentioned but i hope i'm wrong. If Amorim knows what he is doing, and his success at Sporting suggests he does, he will be giving opportunities to a lot of players, and deciding who can evolve fast into his game style. Half of the starters today may be on the bench next game, some youngsters might be starting. Amorim has days not weeks or months to make his changes work. Ineos need top 4, there is 150 million at stake. After 11 years of failed managers patience is running thin. 11 years of mediocrity rules .... United need open heart surgery, more time for the manager etc that is now not acceptable in 2024. If United do not evolve quickly into the playing style Amorim wants he will not last long at United.
