Always give your ex "the gift of missing you" in the meantime, work on yourself in regaining your self worth and self esteem. If you had an amazing relationship and a solid foundation with your ex. Rest assure, at some stage they will eventually "reach out" and try to come crawling back to you, especially once they realise how awesome you are and they start comparing you to others (which they often do) Time is always on your side. They made the mistake in breaking up with you, let them come to that wonderful realisation in their own time, because I promise you, once they do...it's maybe too late for them, as you will finally realise you deserve better!!

@@KByrd80 well I'm pretty much a couple months into no contact. My ex has a new guy, and presumably she is happy. It comes back in waves from time to time, and I find myself hurting still. Some days are easier than others, usually mornings and nights are when I begin to feel a returning pain. I'd be lying if I said I was optimistic about the future, but then again, nothing is set in stone and there are a lot of things I wont be able to predict. Maybe I'll end up meeting someone, somewhere, and itll take off for me. Maybe her new flame will burn out and she will begin to remember the years her and I spent together. Maybe something else entirely will happen, who can say? One thing is for sure though. The only thing you and I can do in each of our own situations is take things a day at a time, distract yourself the best way you can, through friends or hobbies, or even just walking at the park or something, and avoid jumping to conclusions, because you never will know for sure what will happen or what changes to your situation will occur. I hope things improve for you and everyone else in this comment thread. Heartbreak is one of the worst wounds to heal.

No contact for me is working because I'm not as depressed,hurt or having the feel of loneliness any more, it works two ways I think. So I have to remind myself all time that if she dates, then ok. My ex broke up with me 2 days ago, I told her I still thought we could work through things and grow from the difficulties we were facing, that I loved her but wasnt going to try and change her mind and to contact me if she has a change of heart and wanted to work things out. I was doing a little research from the dumper’s perspective. I realised two thing. One, they are sure they did the right thing and they are sure that if they go back, things will be the same. Two, they are not certain if they reach out, what kind of response they’re going to get so it makes them terrified. I’m not saying it’s wise to break no contact. But from their perspective, this is what they go through. For someone like me who doesn’t have any connections with his ex, how can I show her that I’ve changed or aware of the change.

For the one being dumped the best recommendation I can give you and best strategy I can strongly recommend based of the work I’ve done by listening to the coach videos from day to night almost 60 hrs a week Is to remain in no contact keep conversations strictly about your child no reaching out on your part setting up times for your child’s visits You have to consider what texts would be appropriate to respond any small talk should be cut off

Craig you are my daily source of motivation to remain In no contact. My ex was 2 timing me for 11 of the 12 months we were together on again off again relationship that became toxic. He was contacted by his ex when they were 19 so i didnt really stand a chance even though he would tell me he was in love with me and loved her as a friend. My anxious attachment style which I know I have now, made me go haywire. After she moved up left her husband her friend network etc to be with her lost love I was so angry after being with him up till 2 weeks before. I wished him bad karma whilst he lied yet again about the fact he didnt know for sure. not only that but she was moving in with him ! My ex broke up with me after 3 years together a couple of weeks ago. We met at uni as we were flat mates and have lived with each other throughout our whole relationship. We love the same things but our personalities are different; he's more shy and reserved where as I'm more confident and outgoing. He said I didn't do anything wrong but he feels too young (he's 21 soon and I'm 22) and doesn't want to be in a relationship anymore and wants to do his own thing and not have to worry about anyone else. He said he just doesn't love me like he used to, but he still cares about me and worries about me. He also said he's still attracted to me. The problem is, it's hard to let go because we were so good to each other. He was such a great boyfriend and said I was also such a good person to him, almost near perfect (his words). I know there were times when I was clingy or would argue (he never likes arguing) but I would always be there for him cheering him on when he doubted himself or just made him feel special as much as I could. We did so much for each other. He moved out of our flat after I came back to it from being at my Dads for a week. He took all his stuff except his computer and speakers for me to use to make my music until our flat tenancy runs out in september. He's moving away back to his parents who live in France (he's british) and says it's for a couple of weeks but he's not sure yet. I know that he said before I was the only thing keeping him here in the UK because he didn't make many friends at uni and quit his job a while back. He said he doesn't know if he'll stay there forever yet, just going with it. He doesn't know what he wants in life in general but said he just doesn't want to be with me right now. He said he still wants to talk to me and be friends, so he doesn't want me out of his life completely. I asked if he sees us together in the future and he said maybe but he's not sure. He can't seem to give any direct answers like if he wants that or definitely doesn't want that and I'm left here with nothing. I don't know what to do with myself. I've been doing more stuff for 'myself' like meditation, continuing exercising (I've never been overweight) and reading more and working on my music but I feel this huge void inside. I don't know if I can get him back if he says he doesn't love me but the way we talk and how he's comforted me (when we broke up he was hugging me so much and touching me affectionately/lovingly), it doesn't seem like he doesn't love me at all, in fact it seems the opposite.

Apply no contact, if he's confused about what he wants then he needs the space from you to see that in fact he is happier with you than without. He will not be moving on anytime soon, he loves you a lot still and you just need to let him miss you. Show him that you respect his decision, show him that you love him enough to let him go if that is what will make him happy. That will give you so much respect in his eyes. Don't try and stay friends and talk every day. That is only going to allow him to fill the void that you left in him when he decided to leave you. So please, apply no contact and stay strong. Remember what Coach Craig said, No contact does not mean ignoring your ex, it just means that you're not doing the reaching. Also, don't talk about your relationship or break up, unless he directly brings it up. No point in going back to bad feelings

kevin lebar Yup, the best is sticking to no contact. 1 month after moving out all his stuff, I was NC during 2 straight weeks. Only replied to his sms in a casual way and after a few hours. My ex reached out recently saying he needed to talk to me and wanted to meet up in person. I agreed and it was actually a going out... The old good feeling of being together, the ease, the laughs... in the end he said to me he misses me a lot in every single aspect, that he started to value me and noticing things he did not before during the relationship, started to comparing me to other people and seeing I am better, etc... Said that he misses me so much he sometimes has difficult time in sleeping, and he needed to see me... I thought he wanted to meet up to discuss another subject and ended up realising it was for him to express his feelings, things he needed to say and to be with me because he was missing me a lot. For everything I saw from that meet up, the feelings are there... but his life circumstances leaded to a chaos point (one of the reasons that lead to the break up) and he says he doesnt want to be back together again, he just needs peace, to recover himself and only after that will start to think in other things. Yep, no contact makes the other person have perspective and misses you, but I think it's more important for you... After this afternoon I felt sad again and regretted meeting up with him, despite having a great time. He was missing me, had some relief in seeing and being with me, but I ended up feeling hurt again. Felt great for being with him again but then, here I am, still apart from him knowing that he has the feelings for me but doesn't make up his mind on being back together... I already told him, yeah you can feel all that for me and miss all those little things you had with me, but you gave up everything. Just stating a fact... If that is your decision I accept. (I also said I have no expectation but deep in me I have that hope and desire of being together but try not to show it). Sticking to NC again and doing my things... I don't want to feel bad again.

Rhiane Hacker As I mentioned, he says he misses me so much that he needed to see me and express things he needed to say. In my view is like what kevin said, he wanted to "fill his void", to have some kind of relief... and probably expressing certain things to show he still wants me in fear of losing me in some way... When we broke up I made him move out all his stuff and I removed everything I had that reminded me of him. He said recently that he had to sent me photos and videos from our last trip together and I said "I dont want them, what has to remain, will remain in my memory." He started to tear... He continues saying that he cant think of his life without having me in some way. That I am very special to him and don't want me to remove him from my life. I already told him, dont ask me to be your friend because I cant be that. I meeted up with him just because he said he needed to talk to me and not haging out like it ended up being. This kind of spending the day together will not happen again.

Can you create a video about: How do you help someone grow in a loving way where it doesn't come out like you are trying to change them?? My ex was going back to old ways and coping behaviors that were not only irresponsible but could lead to negative life consequences (they couldn't deal with life stressors). Yes attachment style matters. Craig has videos about this, also Thais Gibson (Personal Development School channel) has some great videos on each individual attachment style and their internal processes. Check both coaches/therapists out, very helpful!!!

I was blindsided. I never saw the breakup happening. The day before he says he loves me and then dumps me the day after. I was emotional but didn't beg. I was in shock and said some things I wouldn't normally have said INCLUDING...don't contact me. So now I'm not sure. Coach my ex called me yesterday after almost 2 months of no contact. Even though breakup occurred in April I was reaching out being desperate. I finally realized 30 day no contact was BS and did it the right way. We exchanged pleasantries but I didn't go for the 1st meetup date or talked about the breakup. All the no contanct talk seems to be if you are the one who has been dumped. What about if you are the one who has ended the relationship because you were not getting what you want from it. Does no contact still apply? As in trying to move on with your life but deep down hoping the person who you dumped will miss you, realise they never treated you right during the relationship, and contact you. Or , is it unreasonable to expect the person who has been dumped to be the one to reinitiate contact?

I am only answering because Coach C doesn't always have time to reply to all. The advice I have seen everywhere is for you to reach out to them. Maybe they are watching vids like this and are in NC with you hoping that you will come back? lol. If that's the case, neither of you will ever reach out to each other. Maybe use the indirect/direct approach Coach C talks about in his vids and see what reaction you get? You should search his vids...I've got a feeling he discussed this in one or two of them. Like the other guys said. The dumpees go no contact and the dumpers have to reach out. When you dump someone, you're basically also telling them to leave you alone. Even if you didn't outright say it. The dumpee is just giving you the respect of giving you the space you want. And giving you the gift of missing them. So to answer your question: Yes it's typically unreasonable to expect the dumpee to reach out first, in order to work out your relationship. If I were you, I would watch to see if your ex has made any growth. If it seems like they haven't. I wouldn't recommend reaching out to them until they do. That's the only way to know if things will work out for your relationship. Remember, you broke up with them for a reason. What was that reason? What have they done to work on themselves to be better in that area? And would they be willing to change their hurtful behaviors for you in the long term? You need to ask yourself these kind of questions to gauge whether or not it would be a good idea to reach out to them. Good luck! ❤

Yes. If both of you decided to break up then there has to be something deeper that lead you to believe that you want to get out of the relationship. Even if it was being too close together, space will heal all wounds and this goes especially for relationships. As Craig has said, he does not believe in ignoring your ex, so if they reach out to you, you can respond and go from there and see if the relationship still needs space, or someone needs to work on themselves, or if the other person wants to try again. No contact is healthy for both parties, keep working on yourself.

You need to take a step back and evaluate your situation. First, he misses you AND gave a reason why he's scared of getting back together with you. He is laying out the template for your best chances of getting him back. IF you can work on everything that you believe went wrong on your part of the relationship and you can show some serious change, then your chances of getting him back will be well in your favor. Just figure out how you can work on yourself above all else. Don't worry about him right now, once you feel confident in yourself and you feel as if there is no way that those things could never happen again. That is when you can reach out, or have him see that he doesn't have to worry about those things anymore. Just know that it isn't a one day fix, if you go one day without a mood swing it's not like its an instant cure. Really take time to yourself, you can even seek professional help if you feel as if that would benefit you more. I am not an expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt. We're in this together, just stay strong.

In that situation of him telling everyone something different, it is completely on you to know whether or not something is true and actually was a problem or if it wasn't. You could look back on your relationship from when you noticed things started going downhill or getting distant and look for the patterns. Was it mostly mood swings that upset him the most etc.. look for the biggest problems and work on those the most, obviously list all the smaller ones too because no one wants any problems in a relationship. Losing interest in a relationship is still something that boggles my mind because if you love someone enough, you deal with things and over time it becomes too much to deal with so they start bottling it or they notice no change goes into it if its addressed repeatedly and with that they start to become distant in their own way. A long term relationship does not correlate with getting bored of someone. You just need to have independence from each other, you need individual hobbies and activities where you or him can be alone, with friends or with family. If every aspect of your life is always done with your partner then over time, not enough space from each other can lead to arguments, agitation, frustration, irritation. This is mostly because when you're constantly around them you're the only constant variable that they can pinpoint things on. This can go both ways whether you argue or fight because you're around each other too much or too little. The appropriate amount of space can make you go crazy for one another because you give each other time to miss rather than to constantly have. I hope that makes sense to you. I'm glad you have been working on yourself, that is the biggest thing in all of this. You got this.

Only time will tell from this point. If you feel as if it has been long enough that you should reach out to him and you feel confident in yourself, then you can attempt that. OR you can stay in no contact and keep working on yourself until he decides to reach out to you. It's all up to you and what you feel would be the best for yourself

I'm still a bit unsure about doing no contact. Should I do it in a situation where I took my ex for granted and she felt like I didn't love her? Sometimes she felt like I didn't even want to talk to her. So should I go through with no contact or would it backfire here? We're in a situation where she broke up with me but wanted to stay friends. I pretty much only talk to her when she initiates the conversation at this moment. I understand that no contact is great especially when the ex needs space or time alone. But would it work when they've literally told you they have no feelings for you and want to stay friends? What my rationale says is that in this situation I would stick around her while improving myself mentally and physically to be a better lover and in general more attractive to her.

SuomenPaska ,., I think you need to move on since she broke up with you, so she need to contact you first if she wanted to get back with you. if she doesn't contact you then you are not meant to be together so you need to realize that and find someone else and move on with your life. The situation is similar to mine, i met this girl and really like her so we just casually dated for awhile and to get to know her better. But after about 3 months she put me in a friend zone and i was not ok with it and i told her so, i initiated the no contact rule ( because i don't want to be just friend) i told her that i will be getting off social media for awhile. i blocked her from all my other account except 1 and i told her if she change her mine about me then she could email me. The breakup was hard on me but i knew from that moment i had to move on, I continue to go to the gym and improve myself physically and mentally, i do my best to put the memories behind me. So after 3.5 months of no contact and then i just got an email from her and wanted to reconnect with me again.

Jon Ross Yep I know, I haven't done any of the begging or pleading shenanigans. I hardly ever contact her myself, she's the one who always initiates the conversation with me. For example, I was away for a weekend and she texted me saying "come back already I'm so bored". My plan of action is to just focus on myself and presenting myself as positively and cheerfully as possible when around her, but not going out of my way to talk to her. All I'm wondering is that is no contact really a good plan in a situation where I took her for granted and neglected her feelings for a long time, as in, wouldn't no contact then just kind of reinforce the situation to her and make her think "yeah okay so he's neglecting me again, nothings different"?

SuomenPaska ,., Ok, i see what you are trying to say here, this relationship has been going on for about 10 years now and every time she broke up with you and then she initiate the contact to get you back to her. But then you did go back to her for how many times now and she does it again and again and again? and you keep taking her back? So the situation is on your side to decide when is the right time to get back with her, I would not jump back to the relationship as soon as she initiate the contact and want you back. You are letting her dictate the situation and pretty much using you because she thinks you will always run back to her.
