The answer to your question about a login for TV licence - it's because most people who pay it are old and wouldn't understand/refuse to pay if it was a login.

Yeah who actually pays for a TV license 😂
@oliverholmes-gunning5372
@oliverholmes-gunning5372 2 ай бұрын
@@Rob-zq6qv Honestly if you just straight up refuse them entry it's really hard for them to do anything about it. Same goes for bailiffs, technically speaking, although in that case it's a bit trickier because you have to know the exact combination of legal words to say to them. Only people who can enter your home without permission is the police, and even then only with probable cause or a warrant. I mean, they (the TV licence people) will harass the fuck out of you which I guess is why most people just pay it to avoid the hassle, but if you're of a stubborn disposition there really is very little recourse they have to actually enforce it. I knew a guy who just used to shout through the letterbox that he was house-sitting for the legal occupant and did not have permission to let them in lol. And it fucking worked...

Same here, I don't know if they can still legally gain access to your house to check these days though. There used to be Detector Vans 😂😂 driving around checking what people were watching (though in some areas it might just have been a nosy old git listening through your letterbox 😉). But in the spirit of the fabled British Fair Play, the BBC would run PSAs to let everyone know "There are Detector Vans In Your Area! Buy your TV Licence *NOW* to avoid the fine."
@emilbovbjerg
@emilbovbjerg 2 жыл бұрын
@@littlewoodimp I guess you're in Britain? I seem to have heard that the detector vans were a myth/scare tactic. I know that in Denmark, if you don't let them in, they can't do anything. Just be sure not to hold your smartphone when they knock. Or when they call, don't tell them that you're talking in a smartphone. Claim you use an old phone or something.

That would have been terrifying, glad you are ok now!! I would definitely keep avoiding beer, because some allergies get worse the more you come into contact with the allergen. For context, I've got a latex and a latex-fruit allergy, both of which get worse with more contact. Went from thinking the banana tingles were part of the universal banana eating experience to I can't eat them because they make my throat swell up ;-;. You can also get allergy tested to see what specifically you are allergic to in beer, but that tends to cost $$$ (at least here in Australia).

Tv license is so confusing to me. You have to pay money to watch bbc like on top of cable bills? Do you still have to pay if you only stream? So many questions, it makes no sense
@oliverholmes-gunning5372
@oliverholmes-gunning5372 2 ай бұрын
It's because the BBC is ad-free, so it's how it gets its funding. And yes, you have to pay for it on top of any other pay channels you use like Sky or whatever. In fact, you have to pay it just for owning a TV, even if you never watch the BBC-run channels or if you never even switch the TV on. If you don't have a TV and only stream on a personal device, then as mentioned in the video they will try to bill you for watching iPlayer (the BBC's "free" streaming service), but not otherwise. It's a completely stupid system, but fortunately it's pretty easy to get out of paying, because the people who enforce it actually have no legal recourse for entering your house to confirm that you actually own a TV. They will often pretend that they do in order to bully people into letting them in, but if you stand your ground they have to go away eventually. I think in the past they actually could come in legally (not 100% sure about this though), and back then most people got around it by hiding the TV under the bed lol. The licence isn't that expensive (about £150 per year), but it's the principle of the thing really, especially since the BBC is largely complete dogshit these days.
