This Recon build uses no Recharge perks and still gets your abilities back up very quickly while also allowing you to do top damage, synergize with your team, and have a lot of options for variety!

Red is Dead + Bloodhound = 1.25 x 1.10 = 1.375. They multiply. Best Friend is great for shotgun builds because as soon as you activate it, Threat Detected stay activated indefinitely. Plus those 15% buffs are a big deal. You can get Threat Detected to stay with Bloodhound if you select an enemy right before a teammate kills it. It's hard to do consistently, but with some practice you can get it and wait until a big boy comes by to target. Additionally, if you don't like putting on 30 some percent duration on the support drone. The next best is 7%. That will drop 3 every time. Great video!

Can you do a guard dog build? Greatly enjoyed the content and suggestions. I prefer sniper builds, but looking at not just bloodhound builds but also a more CC support type mindset as well. Would be nice to swap between melting elites and CC oriented kits when you feel like it. Would love to see what you come up with.

I dunno... hitting a single target with a 30% speed decrease and 35% extra damage _sounds_ nice (is the total additive or multiplicative? The number could be much lower), but that speed debuff _could_ simply be applied to everything on the map (along with an extra 10% damage). That gets further emphasized on maps or in situations or allied build setups where ammo conservation is important; if I have to use a few less rounds on each runner (especially since they can be hit more easily) then that's more ammo to throw at the heavier xenos.

You bring up a valid point, but it works both ways. You'll have more ammo to throw on elites cause you'll have conserved ammo against the runners. But, I'm conserving ammo against the elites cause I'm dealing significantly more damage against them. However, in the end, I'll be taking them down quicker since my damage increase is higher. And let's not forget our allies. Combined, you'll increase the team's damage by 30% (3 players * 10%) on everything. I'm increasing it by 105% (3 players * 35%) on a single target. It all comes down to preference, you can use regular PUPs if you prefer. A map-wide slow means you have more time to setup and deal damage by the time they get to you. I just prefer to take down the elites faster since they can be very lethal.

Using optics that 'reveal' much as the medium Laser Sight means that everything a Recon is firing at is revealed for the purposes of Threat Neutralized and Red is Dead

The 4+2 duration tip is huge, but is no-cooldown on the drone so important? Threat neutralized is 15% cooldown for 3 slots. Could put threat-detected (acc and stab +50% while pups out, which is always with hound), chain reaction/downrage for snipers, short-controlled bursts, or whatever. Using the ammo crate occasionally seems ok! If not using hound, I can see keeping threat neutralized. Also, with distracting howl, regular pups vs hound is not just about damage, right? The 30% slow applies to all revealed iirc.

No cooldown is important cause you don't need it. Threat Neutralised + Back into the Fight allows you to get your drone back after 4 kills. Which is better than any cooldown reduction. Threat Detected isn't needed either if you're using the Plasma, it already has good Accuracy and Stability. + your Rifle Perks also increase Acc and Stab. Chain Reaction and Down Range is good for snipers, but we're using an Automatic Rifle. This build is not made for Snipers and sniping is only good against Synths. Snipers just don't have the Fire Rate to hold off a swarm. And the reason we're using Blood Hound is cause of the damage increase. Regular Pups only increase damage by 10%, but Blood Hound increases damage by 35% which is huge against big elites. 😉

I just started playing this game is super fun. I maxed out my gunner and am in prestige with it already. Anybody know if this guy covers group makeup and what the different 3 man groups should consist of? Like Recon, Gunner, Doc?

Golden standard is Gunner, Tech, Recon Gunner for damage. Tech for CC. And Recon for ammo replenishment.

I can't remember the perk name, but what about replacing the extended duration 4 with the 2 perks that will increase fire rate and stamina by 5% per focus stack and reload speed by 50% when at max stacks? That's a 4 point investment for a 15% fire rate and 50% reload to all weapons. Pretty handy for the shotgun as well as your primary for those moments when got your back hasn't procd

You can do that, but you'll sacrifice an ammo clip from Support Drone and lately, with the resurgence of the Smartgun (which only gets 50 ammo per clip from your Support Drone) and Gunners running Stopwatch, you'll need that 4th clip more than ever now.

@@Psyqhical I don't play with heavy too often. Tech main, but I did notice the 50 ammo per mag when I did try smartgun and all I could think was "wtf?" So you make a good point there. Isn't the new heavy the highest dps heavy now though? That's just something I read, so I can't say it is for certain. How much ammo does it get back per ammo drop?

@@Zelisius the new heavy sits between Smartgun and Minigun in terms of DPS. Minigun is still higher in DPS. New heavy should get a full clip worth of ammo from each ammo drop on Support Drone.

I don’t understand not having thermal rounds on any weapon that can attach it….I’ve been playing since launch an thermal rounds nuke bosses specially with a gunner over clock u can 1 mag to 2 mag any heft boy with the default pump shorty an same with the twilight sniper

Why go Thermal Rounds when you can increase the entire team's DPS with a Vuln Drone? Cryo Grids are also almost a must on higher difficulties just to have that extra CC at the end to ensure a succesful mission.

In essence, you can. But have yet to look into the Gruppa much to see it's DPS value. Currently only looking into fully automatic Assault Rifles, SMGs and Heavy Weapons.

Best Friend wouldn't work on this build, you'd have to change a lot on this build to make it viable.

I just don't see Best Friends benefiting the team so much. All it does is increase accuracy, stability, reload speed and gives allies a way to reveal targets which procs your Red is Dead perk for 10% damage. Thing is, Blood Hounds, Guard Dog (when the aliens are close enough) and regular pups do that too. + your Weapon if you have Laser Sight or Tactical scope on it. There are enough ways to proc that perk. The other benefits don't really matter that much since they don't actively contribute to team DPS except for Reload Speed. Giving your team 35% additional damage through Blood Hound and having the benefit of not having to build around it makes it the BIS (Best In Slot) perk for the Recon. But, that my opinion.

@@Psyqhical Oh ist that so ? I was confused by the tooltip stating "Increases Firerate and Stability of Auto Rifles by 15%" since the Gruppa is classified ingame as Rifle, DMR and not Rifle, Auto Rifle like the Heavy Assault. Aside from all of that this build made recon become my favorite class ^^

You can actually test it out. Look at the stats of the Gruppa and than remove the perk and look at the stats again. If there is a change in Fire Rate, it works. 👍

​@@sharkslayer-eo2jflve the same freezing issue, on ps4. l just gave up on the class and just play it when lm lazy. l don't really play extreme or insane, getting a kill on anything atking your party if you're not the lobby host is boarderline impossible cos them wipe everything before your shots even land, and lastly but not least the game is pretty much abandoned, (more so on console that are usually just extra milking cows) so yeah either play without guard dog or try other more cc efficient class.

@@Psyqhical nothing you are just replacing a 4x1 and 2x1 for 3x1 and 3x1 its 6 slots either way. the only difference is you get 3% more with The Long Haul + Extended Duration 3.
