Here is a simple tutorial on how to build this simple modern concrete and wood outdoor bench. The best part is you don't actually need any tools.
All you need is concrete blocks, 2x10 lumber, some scraps of wood and sole construction adhesive. The bench can be moved and disassembled and locks together nicely.

Just built one using some old 1x10 I had lying around. It works well and looks great. The only thing I'd add is that if you're putting it out in the garden you might want to put some crushed stone under the base to make leveling easier (if the blocks aren't level the seat will be a bit wobbly/askew and the level might change as it settles).

Please help me understand the little blocks and what they do?. I thought you put them in the cinder blocks but then I saw you at the bit touched the wood at the end. These are great idea. I plan on making soon.

The blocks get glued to the wood. I used the cinder blocks as a template for where to put the wood blocks. This way the top boards fit into the cinder blocks with the wood bits there to keep the top boards secure and not sliding around.

Not entirely sure how you would go about that using this build method. I think adding a slanted backrest will require tools and screws etc.

How do you level it for sitting on concrete that isn’t level?

You could get some wood shims or spacers and level it out that way

2" thick boards that are 6' long, no support in the middle. Will it sag at all? I'm thinking about doing this, possibly with cedar.

The wider the board the less chance of sag. There has been no sag yet with this PT wood so I’m sure cedar will work well
