Maybe try planting marigolds for the bindweed as the roots have a chemical that deters bindweed

Interesting! Will look into that. Thanks!

So sorry to hear about your compost problems, it must be devastating for you both. You work so hard if you get double the price for your produce it still won't be enough. I used to grow veg and fruit in my market garden, I know first hand how hard it can be. I am now 77 and still enjoy gardening every day having last year changed my system to no dig after following Charles Downing, I am absolutely pleased I did. I follow your blogs and thoroughly enjoy them, keep going , you both look so happy working together, enjoy your good health. Kind regards John

Just wanted you to know that we still religiously watch your channel when we have time. (Even though we don’t typically leave comments) As you know, running a farm and markets can get quite chaotic. We love your channel and following along with your journey. One of these days we hope to make it to that side of the pond and get a chance to properly introduce ourselves. Hope you have an amazing harvest this season! ❤️ Cheers!

Guys, I love your videos. Thank you so much for all the passion you put into your work. It is truly inspiring.🌈 Unfortunately like anything in farming there is no one solution to the problems. The environment and the objectives of the operation play a huge role in finding the best solution. Charles Dowdings No-Dig recipe does not work everywhere, every time like he suggests. There are many farmers doing great things for the soil and the planet in ways other than layering huge amounts of compost that was created in another place. I hope your findings can help you find a perfect balance on your farm and also curb the wave dogmatic thinking in this manner.

Hi Tom - thank you so much for the kind words, encouragement and this comment subject. We whole heartedly agree and learned some time ago to develop a healthy wariness of all the Perma-buzzwords....we always feel one must try to experience and test these ideas and methods first before accepting them as gospel (if that's indeed ever the goal). There's aspects of this form of no-dig (many variants of no dig/till out there) that both resonate with our needs as busy small farmers (the dramatic drop in weeding hours) but also that don't always sit well with our ethos (mostly relying on bought in resources and a 'one size fits all'/homogenised approach). But that's why we are in a lucky position to be able to road test these concepts that we've all got buzzing around our heads and see what works....for us and our land/lifestyle. Sometimes it takes years to figure out that somethings just don't suit the design or ones needs well. And all we can do is learn from that and move on to find the next possible right solution. Many thanks.

A couple of years ago I got some compost from a farm and it came with bindweed and another thing which is a parasitic plant that is yellow and twists up plants and strangles them. I think it came from the bindweed, so I hope that doesn't happen with your garden! Nice to see you back.
@TapoNothFarm3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Did you manage to get rid of the bindweed?
@veronicabalfourpaul22883 жыл бұрын
@@TapoNothFarm Not really :( . It's very hot and dry here in SW Portugal so at the moment a good dose of straw mulch and intermittent weeding keeps it at bay but not gone...

Hey There-- Rosa and James. You 're making a grand job also growing these tasty veggies. Just love kale as a winter veg. So sweet after frost--Ever made carrot jam? Cook up surplus carrots , crab apples and rhubarb add a little honey for sweetness-let mature and you have a great tasting spread. Cannot understand why it has not caught on as a farmer's market item.

Good job on the goat treatment. Just make sure you vaccinate the goats against tetanus, they are quite susceptible to it.
