The evidence of replication in in plain sight. Take Bradford as an example. As you walk around the city you see huge numbers of people wearing traditional clothing. Kaftans, burkas, jilbabs, saris and so on Many local shops sell exclusively cultural items ( clothing and food) . Local businesses have Urdu names and only employ their own ethnic staff. Almost all taxi drivers are of Pakistani heritage these days. Urdu programmes are broadcast on the radio. There is a growing number of mosques and religious centres ( madrassas) all over the city. 50% of school children are of Pakistani heritage according to research. Theoretically you could be born in Bradford and never need to speak English. Your whole neighborhood is exclusively Pakistani in content, you go to school and all your fellow pupils are similar to you, you could get a job in a business or shop owned by your family members, you will attend the mosque and you will wear traditional clothing. This is what is happening today in many of our towns and cities.

Of course Britain is full (overfull - most densly populated country in Europe in relation to productive land and second most relative to area). We import half our food. If trade broke down we would starve. We have no merchant marine to save us any more as they did in two world wars. But in any case the majority has always been against imigration and we are supposed to be a democracy. This is where I feel there is a strong argument for Referendum's on these subjects. That way we would end up with choices that "the majority" feel is right for their country. If you just leave these questions and stumble along, you end up with colossal problems that are very difficult to undo further down the road. I recently had a discussion with an Indian lady, she talked abut her son who had got a job working at an English stately home, she talked with a mother's pride about how much he liked where he worked and loved the English countryside. Her family are people who came to Britain to be British, they love the history, heritage and the land of England. I agree, MH. I would have been more interested in a calmer, more thoughtful and constructive discussion. Both made good points; and both made weak points. Immigration can be an extremely mutually beneficial social contract. But introducing an exorbitant number of unvetted immigrants all at once can cause complex, and unsolvable problems that reverberate for decades to come. Who wants to immigrate, and for what purpose(s)? Why do they want to immigrate? Are they willing and able to learn the local language and customs? What are they offering to the nation? What are they costing that nation?
