Eh. I think it was more a mix of Gwen's overall ambivalence towards settling down (hence "Simple Kind of Life", "Artificial Sweetner', "Comforting Lie" and "Marry Me" off of Return of Saturn), Gavin having some problematic behavior ("Ex-Girlfriend" "Cellophane Boy", and "Too Late") and their scheduling conflicts ("Home Now") that put strain on their relationship. If we're going by songs giving glimpses into the mindset of their writers, Gwen wrote "Cool", which a positive song about closure (and obviously about Tony,) a few years later. I'd say by this point he didn't factor into her then-current relationship.
