Aren't clay pot coolers not already very common traditionally? Also they are not magic. Processed food will still spoil in them, since they don't cool very strongly. Also they only work in hot climates with very dry air.

The fridge works on the principle of “evaporative cooling". That's a known princible since ancient times. All this man did was shape it like a shelf with a door, for better marketing. He didn't invent new cooling physics...

anyone as old as me will remember the "cold-shelf" before people had fridges they had a concrete slab (some were slate) in the pantry for keeping milk, bacon butter etc cool, worked ok for us,
