Here's a thought: pay more. How has it been two years now, and businesses don't seem to realize employees are a commodity too? They aren't sitting around collecting unemployment, they're finding jobs that pay more.

Someone posted a study on Reddit that shows that: There is no labor shortage for jobs that pay $18-$20 (depending on locations) and over. The so-called labor shortage only happens for jobs that pay the minimum wage or below the living wage. Seriously though, businesses and employers that keep complaining about labor shortage but then refuse to raise their wage offers should just quit and close their shops. No business or employer is entitled to slave or cheap labors.

@@harborjsg I think it’s stupid people expect to live off of entry-level jobs when most are only performing them temporarily or to earn extra money. These companies paying out the a** to hire anyone to wash dishes, wait tables, etc. are wasting their money imo.

@@AaronSaltzer Why wouldn't they expect it? Entry level jobs are still full time jobs. Of course they shouldn't let you live lavishly, but basic rent, food, bills, and medical should be covered.

At this point, it's a battle of attrition on who will collapse first. A lot of us retired early after saving a lot of money, with no intent to going back to the workforce.

We are living within ours means and working jobs for a few months to be able to buy a piece of land to put our mobile home on that we own outright, then social security will be more than enough for us to live on.

Its not a worker shortage. Its is A SHORTAGE OF JOBS THAT PAY LIVABLE WAGES! and have company owners and manager that treat workers with basic dignity and respect and are not sadistic psychopaths. Thats why workers are refusing to work these jobs. fixed that title for ya. The whole point of working is to earn a living so when the job does not pay enough to live whats the point? You can be homeless and starving without a job and probably be freeEr and happier 2.

The restaurant industry is one of the worst areas to work for. You're better off working for Walmart for better pay and not having to rely on getting tips from patrons who are short of money themselves.

This is reflecting the lack of immigrant workers who were the backbone of the low paid job market. US citizens are taking higher paying jobs and walking away from slave wages (anything less than $18-20 per hour).

Especially with birth rates going down. They could help this issue by giving a path to citizenship to immigrants.. they would rather ban abortions so more white babies are born. 60% of abortions are done to white fetuses. Thats why they overturned roe v wade amidst all this. Look up the birth dearth. It was written in the 1989 and it predicted the worker shortage and the overturning of roe v wade. It costs 500 bucks or more to purchase because they dont want the average persin to have access to this information. The fact of the matter is, boomers are retiring and gen x is about to follow. There aren't enough millenials or gen z to fill these positions. Birth rates have been declining and now those in power have decided to strip our right away in an effort to force another generation of workers to be born. It's sick.

If you can’t afford employees then Close your doors people are tired of it People want to go to a job that actually takes good care of them But no every employer wants to be greedy they should really care more about the employees because without them they can’t make it we all should have a living wage and I’m not talking about 15 an hour i’m talking about 27 an hour Per American we should go to Congress and tell them If prices go up then are wages go up for a livability but I know that’s not gonna happen we just go to stand up and say something we the true Americans have a voice not those Congress people

Labor shortage my ass I’ve applied for three weeks with no success anywhere. If I can’t find clean employment I guess I’ll find not so clean employment. I still have to eat and if I have to hurt others to do so then so be it. Don’t forget I tried to be good.

I support this. Businesses who cant pay a living wage dont deserve to exist. Businesses that abuse employees also often are lacking now. Its awesome. The be patient and kind is a red flag, I wont work for a place who is acting like its the workers fault for not wanting to work there

Demographics: the fed labor participation rate is much lower. Alot of people retiring, not coming back to workforce even if there is a recession. And looking at labor force participation, it's lower than what it was in the 70s. If I am reading it correctly.

This labor shortage is wiping out small business everywhere. The starting pay has gone up so dramatically, that small to medium size businesses cant afford to pay it, only the big corporate chains can compete now. for example, there's a Pizza restaurant where I live that's been in the neighborhood since 1957! It just closed its doors for good last week because of the lack of staff and not being able to find workers. This is being dramatically downplayed in the media. The long term affects of this will be catastrophic.

I just think if a "business" can't afford to pay the ones that MAKE THE BUSINESS POSSIBLE, then maybe that venture is unsustainable as a means of income. Also, if you can't pay a livable wage to the workers then you shouldn't be in business, those workers time is just as important as the "owners" time, so if they are going to sell their lives 8 or more hours at a time, why shouldn't they be able to afford to live? Just saying
@Mike-zx6sl
@Mike-zx6sl 2 жыл бұрын
simply put, if you're unable to afford completive wages for your employees then your business isn't viable. That's not even a slight against those businesses, it's simple mathematics. What's funny is that individuals are labelled as living outside their means for buying things they can't afford (like cars or houses lol) but a "small business" is made out to be a victim for hiring employees they can't afford.

@@joyn6654 Depends on the kind of work they do. If your job is flipping burgers and doesn't require a lot of skill and if your easily replaceable then you should be paid accordingly. You get paid more based on skill level and amount of responsibilities you have. Just becuase you have a job doesn't entitle you to a living wage. It's performance based.

@@Evan-yl4rs bullshit. Anyone working should be compensated with a living wage. NOBODY should have to work multiple jobs just to barely survive. Wages have been stagnant for 40 years. Businesses have been screwing their workers for too long. If they can't afford to pay their workers a livable wage...then either the owner should do the work themselves or close the doors.
