No EV Home EV Charger - Maybe buy the v12!

Hi All, you have asked for some Calculations on public charging costs!
My unscientific test! I was almost right and if we went for Unleaded not 99 unleaded, we may have won in CTR Aston Vantage v12 against Public Charging costs!

I think you referenced the problem yourself. The car was predicting ultra low mpg based on previous track day time. I would always use premium fuel in a car like that anyway - but it would still win based on normal driving conditions. Over time you could prove that point by just by driving the car around until it needs a refill and recalculating mpg at that point (future vid!). Anyway, I get that this was supposed to be a quick and easy comparison and was fun anyway!

Arm your maths correct for the Taycan? 220miles divided by 90kw gives 2.44kw per miles which is pretty low for even the Taycan? Sadly I can’t see the public charging network getting cheaper anytime soon.

However much you like the Taycan you are visibly more animated driving the Aston. Watching Lee (Geoff’s mate) drive his Taycan all over Britain I’ve come to realise that the public charging network is expensive, prone to glitches and still doesn’t have appropriate numbers/coverage. Since we are now into the mandatory sales targets, it really is time they put the cart before the horse and get these chargers rolled out in greater numbers.

The average price of public charging is 75p per kWh. You are indeed in an area devoid of decent cheap public charging. If you were near a Tesla supercharger (open to non-Tesla’s) you could pay 41p without a membership and 33p with a membership (£10 a month), which would be way cheaper! Don’t worry, next year or two you’ll have decent public charging in Kent too.

84p per kWh? Wtf? We usually charge at home, but went to Harrogate a couple of weeks ago so needed to charge in the town centre. 50p per kWh. That was for a 50kw charger, so not too slow
