This is very well done! I always find it strange that no one ever comments on this as the quote of Miles Morales. Especially when you compare it to Peter's main theme which is: "With great power comes great responsibility." It makes for an interesting difference of views. Peter's story is colored and heavy with all the expectations that made him who he is. Miles is almost forced onto the same path but he manages to break free of them.

Yes!! I just watched this movie a second time and was paying a lot of attention to how expectations are a theme of the movie but I wasn't really able to put it all together so I went looking for essays about it. I found a lot of comparison to the book "great expectations" but nothing taking the movie's themes on their own terms. Eventually I found this video and wow what an amazing analysis!! Especially the parts about blonde Peter Parker representing the audience's expectations of spiderman was something I totally never thought about. Incredible essay I'm so glad I found this! One thing I was thinking about is how Miles gets expectations from both ends of the spectrum. His family expects him to do great things and succeed educationally but the spider people expect very little out of him. They even expect him to get in the way of their mission should be come along so they web him to a chair. Yes they're demanding a lot from him but they don't actually expect him to be able to live up to those demands.

I recently rewatched the movie and i wanted a video essay on the whole 'no expectations ' part Sure it's about the expectations put on miles by everyone and situation around him and him not being able to keep up with all those expectations and being overwhelmed and overcoming them by the end of the movie. Btw... Why's the aspect ratio of thumbnail like that?
