Gday People! Well this really works, but I did put too many branches on top of the pots ... use around half of what I used ... use common sense! Sometimes I get a little too excited and go overboard... maybe a little manic? ... grrr... I hate that! But just make sure that you cover the pots, so that all of the seeds in the pods have a chance to fall into each pot.
So all up on this table there were 70 pots ... so I could easily end up with over 1000 trees growing from these pots ... and like I say, you can either just repot them or plant them and rely on "survival of the fittest" which I will likely be doing.
So today I will be doing around 100 new pots containing the seed pods from the other half of these branches ... I will do another video when these new pots start to germinate and will give you updates over the coming year.
When all of the seed pods fall in the pots, you can cover with a little bit of soil, or leave it to mother nature ... water during winter when required, say every few days, during summer ... daily! Just so the soil in the pots stays moist! It really is a very easy and quick way to grow bulk trees natives, native plants and bushes, native grasses, etc
There are many ways to collect seeds from the bush ... another way is laying cotton sheets, tarps etc underneath the trees, and the seeds will fall onto the sheets, tarps etc and obviously hand picking seeds.

I love this video Billy, this is what you're so good at. And no, it isn't necessarily a lazy way to plant, its an ingenious way to plant bushes and trees. Very clever of you to think of it. Its so simple its brilliant. I envy you your pet magpie Nipper, he seems nice to have around and good, funny company. Show me more of your place and how you've made it your "own."

I will never stop planting trees . Only today I gathered a good cluster of Acer Sacharhinum ( helicopter ) seeds . I'm a plant them tommorow . I planted my first tree in 1999 just before my Towns ( Tram ) system opened up . The size of it now . It's an Acer Cappilepes ( Snake bark maple ) But since then I have continued to plant them . I visited a friend today and in that garden I planted a Birch , Cherry , Montpellier Maple and a Goat Willow later . We should never underestimate the value of trees . Not only to us but wildlife , esp birds and moth catterpillars . And when trees tumble at the end of their life , they become habitat for all kind of minibeasts , insects and invertabrates & Fun Guy :D Regds and Peace from London =^_^=

And all those pots are almost certainly all retrieved from rubbish dumps and are now going around again in productive service. And not rotting in some pile of refuse, or in a disorderly pile behind peoples' garages, or ' out of sight, out of mind ' behind some botanical gardens shed. But what should be required from this point would be to get those seedlings out into the world. That one yard only has a given capacity. Wait for the markets. Yes. Wait for the rains on that guy's farm. Yes. But then think of other ways to shift them. Maybe plant them in areas where it is not specifically unauthorised to do so. On those long ute drives. Pull up here and there, even going off track, with pots of seedlings, some decent amounts of wire mesh, a couple of decent shovels, some containers of water, and then plant away. Maybe not so much with the mesh protection if not sure about getting back to exactly there. Dig holes, plant them, give them a good starting dose of water. Fling the pots back into the back of the trailer. A given percentage of those plantings are always gonna take, given your knowledge of the ecosystem[s]. There is no limit to the volume you can offload doing that, because you'll always find branches lying around with which to distill new seeds into all those buckets, and still have plenty enough for market and that farm.

How would these strategies go planting trees directly into your mates farmland? I’m in Victoria and thinking of planting a few thousand mountain ash over 800 acres
@WildWarriorBill

It works mate, survival of the fittest, also when potting them into the soil, you can easily break apart the trees in the pots, then plant them in the soil .. all of these trees from this video are now sprouting from the pots. So it does definitely work! And is a very quick no fail way of growing many trees!

@@WildWarriorBill Thanks I'll give it a go. Is it possible to sow the seeds directly into the paddock soil or is it always better to grow them in pots and transplant the strongest of them?
@WildWarriorBill
@WildWarriorBill 4 жыл бұрын
@@danchisholm7345 I am not expert mate, but Pots would be the go ... otherwise direct sowing, they will be eaten by Kangaroos, Birds, Parrots, Cockatoos etc and they just wont survive the summer etc .. my way you are guaranteed at least a 80% success rate, just make sure they get plenty of water, daily or every couple days with summer coming up, you can buy the pots on Ebay www.ebay.com.au/b/Seed-Starting-Pots-Trays/159452/bn_10594860 or nurserys might have old ones for free, seedling trays etc
