You don't necessarily have to agree with it but incarcerating an individual because they chose to have sexual relations with another consenting person who is at the legal age in their private lodging is not right. What a persons does in their privacy is no ones business. Jamaicans have been conditioned to hatred against gays particularly because of its strong religious culture and it ensues into violence at times. Its all depends on societal norms and values that shape most people's opinion, if instead you were born and grew up in Britain you might have a different perspective. What you fail to realise is that race and sexual preference are 2 completely different issues. Also in a democracy, it's the majority that make the rules. The issue of gay rights is more than a bedroom argument. The bedroom should NEVER be government territory. Equality should, and it should depend on the society, if more people approve than dissaprove, we should have equal rights OUTSIDE THE BEDROOM. And if the society doesn't approve, we shouldn't. Majority rules.

The irony is that Jamaica has a substantial gay population. Wanting something not to exist won't get rid of it. Jamaica should be concentrating more on its outrageous crime rate and trying to ensure people, including Jamaicans from overseas, can visit without being robbed and murdered.
