@azazelgrigori92442 жыл бұрын
I’ll admit. I can understand how she feels, but a few things. 1. As far as what’s been shown, no one in her family has treated her like she treats him. 2. There is no excuse to neglecting, bullying, and abusing one’s own offspring. I’d call it generational abuse, but Oscar doesn’t treat Penny this way. He may have his faults, and he certainly does, but he is always there for Penny when it really matters. Sugar Mama is just an abusive old crone. Yes, I’m sorry she wasn’t allowed to compete in rodeo, or do other boy stuff, but abusing your own kid is worse. I swear this show gets weirder every week. It wasn’t too long ago we were made to feel bad for lacieniga. And even that was an episode of abuse.

Hey, a woman could be destined to be the one to cure cancer, but that won't matter...all people like that are wondering is why she's worried about "man" things, who "let" her pursue these interests, and if it was a man, he's not a "real" man, or they'll blame her father. ALL they will be worried about is how old is she, does she have kids, and what she's making for dinner and it had better not be cold. Oh, and if one of them dies from cancer? They would rather die than seek help from something they view as beneath them. And if they do? They'll just undermine her, maybe give a backhanded compliment, give praise to someone else, and get amnesia and thank a higher power. I'm just giving an example of an extreme-case scenario, but I'm just giving a basis of how these people's brains are hardwired. They're that way from childhood to the grave, and I'll reckon their ghosts are the same way for eternity. No reasoning with folks like that.

@@Hamantha What was explained? Sugamama has an estranged family that wouldn't let her compete in bull riding competitions, so she abused one son and spoiled the other? Yes, we get to see more of her life, but none of this explains anything about her at all. Boohoo, she was told she can't do something because she's a girl. You do realize bull riding is very dangerous. Hell, we should be more concerned about Pa forcing a clearly frightened child into doing it. It's fucked up how society just expects men to be strong and indomitable enough to participate in physically risky activities, more so than when it keeps women from doing the exact same thing on the presumption that they're weak and fragile. But NOOOOOO! It's always about the girl problems and not the systemic abuse of boys. The fact that she sees her own brother get bullied into riding a bull, and her only concern is that she's not allowed to ride the bull, shows her to be a very uncaring person.
@azazelgrigori92442 жыл бұрын
In fact, let me ask you something. Imagine the roles being reversed. A mother is forcing her daughter to participate in a competition that focuses around an activity that is traditionally thought of as feminine. The daughter clearly doesn't want to do it but is bullied by the mom because it's some sort of family tradition. But the son wants to get involved. The mom tells him "You know the rules. No boys allowed. Now, go fix my car." Who would you be more concerned with? The upset son who's told he's not allowed to participate, or the daughter who's being bullied into it.

Gotta wonder where Oscar got his mindset from though, since the man is still pretty sexist himself. I mean sure he probably got it from his grandpa, but I'm more surprised at the fact that he managed to survive till adulthood with Charlotte as his mom, and to then be married to a pretty independent woman, and still be kinda sexist.
@ARedMagicMarker2 жыл бұрын
That's why you gotta not only pay attention to who you are marrying but pay attention to their family as well. Are they all primarily a lot of sexists, racists, homophobes, literally stark raving mad and crazy with a plethora of proudly undiagnosed mental illnesses, and/or creepy culty zealots? If so, and that's not your thing, ya might wanna give it a miss, and do a U-turn, just saying. You not only marry a person, but you also marry their family. I swear the ish can be hereditary the longer the bloodline has existed as such and has made no efforts to change or cut off bad roots and ways. And it's not just taught, it's nature too. Even siblings who have never met before, were adopted by different families, and meet later in life will 5 times out of 10 act and have beliefs more like each other than their adopted family. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but blood can make a difference sometimes and I'm just using the adoption thing as an example. There sure are plenty of adopted kids out there who act more like their adopted parents than their birth parents. I'm not saying it's good, or bad, or that it even happens all the time, but it's something to take into consideration. Do you want your kid with a coin toss's chance of getting those predisposed sexist/racist/zealot/crazy genes? I sure wouldn't. A handful of weirdos in the lot is expected as with every family, but if it's the whole dang family tree, living and deceased, gtfo.
