Real Prince fans just smile at the casual fans who only know a few hits, LRC, Purple Rain, 1999, Kiss, etc… But we know those are just a chapter of his lifetime masterpiece catalog , years before Little Red Corvette, and years after till his death in 2016. You would have to dive deep into space to experience Prince’ huge catalog of music, performances , looks, productions , band members, protégés , etc. I was so fortunate to be a teen in the late 70’s and witness Prince and his music from the first album, and most real Prince fans 😊don’t respond kindly to those unfamiliar , who casually say things about him, not knowing his complete history. It’s like me saying something about Taylor Swift, not ever hearing her music or knowing her history and legacy.

No sexual innuendo. The song was not about a car. The car is a metaphor. He was very direct in his writing. The stage performance, is actually what killed him. The dancing and splits really damaged his hips and he needed the pain meds to perform. Fentanyl addiction and accidental overdose. I still don’t understand why he was all alone in his house to die in an elevator because everyone around him knew he was struggling. Very sad gut punch to my generation that loved the 80s.

This is my favorite Song by Prince. Prince was a genius musician and could play virtually any musical instrument. You need to see him play the guitar. He is a master. Incredible. Gone way too soon. Check out him coming in at the end of While My Guitar Gentle Weeps a song him and many stars played at the 2004 Rock Hall of Fame Induction. He steals the show on guitar at the end. Keep in mind, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (ELO), Stevie Winwood and other greats played on the song.
