Hi I'm 12 years old. I just started en pointe and wanted to try out for the nutcracker auditions in August this year for the second time. I didn't get a good part last year and wanted to this year. I have been researching for the best of workouts,stretching, technique etc... Anyways you have been such a big help with this video and many others. Although it is hard and i get frustrated many a time, i hope someday i will be just like you. Thanks again!

I love how every combination is repeated! First round is always a bit shaky for me as I'm trying to remember and keep up. It's nice to get to do it again properly the second time around. Also, it's super convenient not having to pause and jump back every time to repeat - even the exercise is more efficient without breaks! My favourite barre this far! Thank you, Katie!

Thank you for making a version without intros! It really helps get more ballet in busy schedule. I often use your "Quick Ballet Barre NO INTROS" for a 10 minute warmup. One thing like better about this new one than that one is that your face is so animated and cheerful. Would you cosider making a no-intros version of your "Intermediate Adavanced Ballet Barre"? I love that one--it's beautiful!

Great class! May I ask a question? Without holding the barre, I could hold my tendu front and side but always falled with tendu back.Would you please give me some hint on the causes of my failure? Were the hip placement wrong or should I lift up more? Thanks!
@esstown4 жыл бұрын
If you're tending to fall forward it might help to lift your chest (while keeping ribs in) and squeeze the underside of your buttocks together a little. If fallling towards the standing leg is more the issue try pressing the lower butt cheek of the working side forward, i.e. pressing the hip joint forward (which is technically in your groin). Keep ribs and shoulders square and it should all be good. A mirror can be very revealing - sometimes we think we're square but we're not. Try the side view and you might spot the issue as well.
@esstown4 жыл бұрын
Also, further to my comment below - in both cases, apply the sort of pressure you would need to tuck your pelvis under, as in "try" to tuck your pelvis under and hold it. Don't let the knee bend when doing this. If your pelvis actually does go into the tucked position then that's incorrect but most people can't.....and so can safely try. Maintain this pressure and it will steady your placement in tendu back.
@chengzhao93344 жыл бұрын
@@esstown Great great thanks! I tried all your suggestions and my tendu back stability and quality much improved. I need to write down all your suggestions and kept reminding myself in everyday practice.

Teaching point for students: see 1:34 .....this is okay for professionals but please, when you are first learning, make a conscious effort not to adjust hair or clothing during a barre exercise - otherwise one day you will do this on stage without realizing it. Barre is all about setting your body up to run on automatic - so that your mind is free to focus on the broader picture when on stage.
