As a former teacher , I cannot tell you the stories children have told me about their parents, their families, their homes, their pets and themselves. They are just naturally truthful whether you want them to be or not. And no amount of parental threatening stops them especially when one gets started someone always has to beat their story with a better one. I had second graders and they kept me in stitches and on my toes.

My first grader tells stories to her teacher. We go to parent night and hear "we hear you have five dogs and four cats." She names them all, too. We have one dog, and one cat. She added some siblings last year. My sister told her teacher she had a brother named pepper. In first grade. She has the kids draw who they were going to sit by at the Thanksgiving table. My sister drew her brother, pepper. Our black lab.

Reminds me of the time my neighbour's seven year old daughter yelled her goodbyes to her mum from the top window, "BYE MUM, I'LL PLAY QUIETLY WITH MY BROTHER WHILE YOU GO TO THE SHOP. NO ONE WILL KNOW WE'RE HOME ALONE." I almost doubled over laughing when I saw the mother immediately turn around and walk back home while cursing under her breath. Couldn't even go to the corner store in peace without getting ratted out.

Yes, instead of teaching self love. But unfortunately, for generations our people have been led to believe that our natural beauty is NOT beautiful. Look how long we've had white, blue eyed blonde hair as the epitome of beauty. (And there was/is coloration in their race too. Brunettes, Black haired, Red haired Caucasians were not as valued as their fair skinned, blonde, blue eyed sisters.)(That was before tanning became popular among them....). Look how long it took to see a black beauty on the cover of a magazine. We had to create the magazine(s) ourselves!!!
