Thank you Deidre! I love how you stayed with the K.I.S.S. principle! This is American ingenuity at its best! I'm so tired of seeing ad after ad and video after video showing young, fit men and women lifting their light bikes onto their carriers and then proclaim, "See how easy that is?" They never show an older person or a person with a bad back lifting their ebikes onto these types of bike carriers. What you showed is what is really needed in the market place. I have written to several bike rack companies about simplifying their designs so older people like me can get their ebikes onto the carriers. The emails all came back with ZERO interest in doing that! *

Right on! Aging boomers are a huge demographic group with dollars to spend. The bike rack industry needs to get with the program here! The age wave is upon us and those who market to this group will be kings and queens.

Deidre, This also works great for lifting my ebike onto a dual hitch that tows my car and bike rack on our motorhome. I just knew that bike was going to take me out and not riding it, till I found this video. For fatter tires just get a larger diameter pipe, also the tire guide on my rack is easy removed and replaced once bike is loaded, so that is what I did. Thanks for the tip, also great job presenting, using easy to find parts, and cheap!

Deidre- Very cool. I bought an E-bike (over 50lbs) and had the same issue. Hard to lift onto my rack with 2 tire trays (in the shape of hoops). Went to the hardware store and purchased one of those plastic molded ramps that mount at the bottom of your gutter spouts and mounted conduit hooks on the end of it which simply clip onto the hoops. The E-bike can now simply be pushed up the ramp and placed into the trays with very little exertion. Brainstorming indeed similar to your great idea. Love the 2" PVC. That would work great on my rack as well in the middle section. Not worth all those trips to the Chiropractor without it! Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic & creative solution! I need just the ramp portion to get my bike up. The rack I have already has the 'tray' to hold the bike. However I cannot remove the part that holds the tire as that's an integral part of the way my rack works (1Up USA 'Quik Rack'). I'll have to think about how to use this solution on my rack.

Self tapping screws don't need more security. The threads hold like any other screw. Not sure the size, but just enough to go thru the thickness.

Awesome video, but be very careful about buying cheap bike racks for an ebike. When looking at a rack you must look at the specifications and make sure that the rack is designed to hold heavy bikes. My e mountain bike is 47 lbs and my bike rack is NOT designed to carry that much weight. You you need to make sure your rack is designed to hold a heavier bike before you purchase it.
