A GENERATOR AND SOLAR FOR ELECTRIC POWER AND STARLINK FOR THE INTERNET. From what I understand several countries lost internet due to severed cables. Get your solar, a generator and starlink and you will be set. Also there is a Black engineer names Moses west. He invented a unit that makes water out of air. He works through the Water Resource Foundation and the Moses West Foundation. Tony if you were able to get Mr. West 's machine in Ghana. you could become the Water Chief of Ghana.

How does the solar work during rainy season? I realized how important electricity is when we lost power for a few hours after a storm. I can't imagine the constant disruptions.

Yep, you need to plan and mitigate against predictable problems. Solar + batteries, or small wind turbines if you live on a hill or near the coast. But it costs $$$$. And to be honest while most Ghanaians will complain loudly ultimately Ghanaians are deferential and apathetic. No water, no electricity? They shrug and get on with it, and governments of every stripe know this.

@@user-dq7xr6kc9b This seems like the perfect opening for a shrewd business Man/Woman. It would be so easy to start a solar farm. There are rooftops they can put them on and a lot of vacant land. Perhaps the Chiefs can combine some of their land for solar farms.

Im due in Accra soon to install solar on our home, Ive been planning for a while. I dislike generatora but Solar power is a BIG investment. Local companies have quoted us drom 400,000 cedis to 90,000 cedis for a 10/11kva hybrid inverter systems with high capacity lithium batteries. We did find Chinese suppliers on Ali Express, and while they are cheaper, shipping is $1500-2000 dollars from China to Tema, Ghana. You have to insulate yourself from the vagaries of Ghanaian institutions and it COSTS. Way beyond the reach of the average Ghanaians.

Not until Ghanaians Vote for a Government who would Put the People first and make the Right Priorities ?? We are All in the Same boat. They Don't even have the Time to think and Decide to Make Good use of Our God Given Massive Sunshine and Heat. It only takes the Political Will and Wisdom to Start A National Policy to make Ghana made Solar Energy Components Cheaper in Ghana. Free Duty on Solar Components ?? Tax Holidays for Solar Manufacturing Companies ?? Even Reasonable Government Grants and Back Up Loans ?? This would have the Potential for TVET Graduates 🎓 jobs to help fix Solar Panels in Old and New Buildings. As a Back up when The Electric Pawer Fails ?? For Now and more. This would help ease the Pressure On the Akosombo Power 🔋 to be used for Industries and for Exports to Neighbouring Countries. Been stateside for a few weeks now and was very lucky to leave before the heavy rainfall a couple of weeks ago. Natural disasters are simply that, natural disasters. They can happen anytime or anywhere. What's so unfortunate besides the destruction and trauma they cause, is human complicity wrapped up in climate control, poor maintenance controls, and garbage in open drains and sewers. Until Ghana addresses these factors, the yearly floods will continue to wreck havoc.

The president and government needs checking ✔️ ✅️. Ghana president said in a conversation on a video I'm still trying to find again, that he has to buy 3m or 3b$ in wheat from the US every year. As I am researching, I see that the US doesn't sell Ghana wheat at all. The person in the video ask Addo, why do he continue to buy wheat if Ghana can't afford it. Addo looked at him really sad and said, if I don't they will kill me. I believe he lied. This makes me wonder where is the money for the fake wheat purchases for all these years. The people need to investigate this. There is no reason for the power to go out when there is enough money for sufficient electricity. 🎉

Following news reports and all in Ghana, I get the impression that the blackouts are mainly a cause of money owed the suppliers. They need to find a solution which doesn't necessarily have to be solely on the government. Some politician suggested opening the supply chain to private concerns instead. It will raise the price but service will definitely be better. I also consider the social consequences of handing electricity service to private concerns.

Get backup / alternative / reserve systems, like many (not all) locals do. WATER: Smart water tanks for regular water, rainwater collection with above- and under-ground tanks, etc. Borehole well with water pump provides additional water supply where your location allows. ELECTRIC POWER: get solar for QUIET regular and backup QUIET POWER. Gas-fuelled generators are an expensive source of block-buster NOISY POWER. INTERNET: Explore using multiple ISPs as many do beyond the current crisis occasioned by substance cable cuts affecting multiple countries. GO LOCAL: As the old maxim goes. Do what locals do (up to a point) to manage. Learn and ADAPT. You'll last longer that way. Best wishes, y'all.

The cell service doesn't work if the landline internet goes off? When the lights go off cause they have a maintenance schedule. We get forewarnings. I'm still on the internet. I have 2 cellphones with different numbers and carriers. One takes a double sim. Two tablets and two laptops i keep charged and 2 smartwatches. I can at least listen to my play lists from my watches, and one is LTE. I'm on the 9th floor so i can look out the window. Or stay inside i use the flashlight on one of my cellphones placed on a slanted vertical charging stand with the light hitting the ceiling. Lights the room. I also have a bright ring light for cellphones and tablets i can turn on in an outage. Lightweight so i can carry it to find and use the bathroom. 😊

Ghana homes could do with battery backups? an asside: hey the homes people are building are so big, are the families really big? are generations living together under the same roof? do wives move in to husband's family home? or is it the other way around? or do people just like really big houses? it seems like a lost to me to build on leased land, but many countries have such land law, uk. yeah people have to live somewhere. 50 years, 99 years... I guess it boils down to what you can live with and are use to. I mean the king and his family wealth grows for he once just had land now he has a house and land. no wonder the British crown is so wealthy.

I get you, land =security. However, the leasehold system means the land ultimately always belongs to the nation. Another nation (Brits, Chinese, Americans) cannot come in and buy up all the choice land plots and lock them up in perpetuity. Watch some videos about Chinese prospectors buying up land to mine for gold, or real estate vids in PramPram and Ada and see how retired Americans have bought up those beach front towns. In 100 years their descendents will get to renew the leases or it returns to the Chief/clan it was leased from.

Ghana produces excess electricity and exports it to sister countries Togo, Benin, and the Ivory Coast. The Electricity Corporation of Ghana owes the power generators. The power companies are independent although the government owns large shares. To stay viable, the power companies sell their power to neighboring countries who pay top dollar. Meanwhile, ECG is not paying them because government units, businesses, and individuals owe ECG billions of dollars. You heard me, billions of dollars. Ghanaians should pay their bills and taxes. It is not a demand issue with new construction. There is excess supply. ECG is indebted to the power suppliers so they are selling the power to neighboring countries for top dollars.

What else to expect when you are in a 3rd world country. I’m from one and that’s normal

Please understand that your view of Ghana must be changed. United States is not heaven as every country has their own challenges. The water in United States in Flint Michigan and other places are toxic. You couldn’t afford what you have acquired in Ghana in the United States so cheaply. I think you didn’t know what has been going on in the U.S. There are many people living living under the bridge, tent houses in downtown LA, come to Washington D.C. and see where black people live. I hope you had time to whine and complain about how things are done in the U.S. No country in the world would ever be perfect, including United States you were born and grew up. Come to Washington D.C. and you discover window mount air conditioners all over the city, so if Ghanaians are building with no air conditioners, please that’s what they can afford. In the United States people don’t own anything without a credit, you buy all things with credit you sign a promissory note. Please like it or leave it, African Americans in the United States lives in poor neighborhoods throughout the country. Their neighborhoods don’t have street light, no restaurants lacking basic community services so stop this childish whining. As United is not perfect, no country in the world is perfect. I guess you were not in Texas when Houston flooded, maybe you were sleeping when Katrina hit Louisiana. If you decide to come back to U.S please tour the country. Peace

Ghana is over hyped and not that great. Food is just ok. The people are slow as f** and that’s slow minded too. I can keep going
