My brother has an eye condition that will render him blind im a couple of years. When we were younger our grandma used to take us two on vacation every year so he could see the world before its too late...she has dementia now. That is probably the sweetest thing she has ever done in her life and i'll remember that forever

Only Medusa is stated to have the power to turn people to stone. They all have bodies covered in scales, wings and snakes for hair.

Well, from how it sounds, the listener had been blind their whole life. So when you're blind that long, you adapt. And how they get around revolves entirely around their cane. It lets them know about any bumps, terrain changes, or obstacles they might run into. Even when you just close your eyes, your sense of touch is heightened by a lot, so that cane pretty much becomes your eyes. Hearing is also a huge factor, as by your hearing, you can tell all kinds of things, like how close or far away something is, what exactly is around you, and if you have anything to really worry about. (My source for knowing any of this for certain: I watch a lot of blind youtubers channels.)
