We ask healthcare professionals to take care of us, our family, and our friends, and we can't even give them real breaks? Then we wonder why they have such bad burnout...

No breaks as a nurse, a therapist, a doctor, a phlebotomist, an administrator. If you’re in healthcare you generally don’t get a break and more of a convenience based breather when caseload is low or shit’s not hitting the fan. Even then there’s prep or catch up to do.

MRI Tech here. Just because you do not get a break doesn't mean all MRI techs don't get a break. Every site in my city has a lunch/dinner break of 45 minutes, depending on what shift you work morning or evening.

Is there MRI school or is it just under radiology tech ?
@CritterFritter
@CritterFritter 3 ай бұрын
MRI is most often learned by on the job training (OJT). The principals are covered in rad tech training, and students make rotations through the department, perhaps a month at a time along with other areas, to get a flavor of what’s going on. With various imaging protocols being pre-loaded into the imaging software, aspiring MRI techs are able to strike a balance between learning equipment, providing mindful patient care and maintaining records/compliance standards. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists offers a post grad registry test and certification. Many states do not require registry as MRI does not utilize “ionizing radiation”.

Do you face any problem after staying in radiation for long?
@CritterFritter
@CritterFritter 3 ай бұрын
MRI uses no ionizing radiation (X-rays), but does use a strong magnetic field. That said, the technologist must be very careful in screening patients for metallic objects, especially people who might have certain medical implants, metal shards in eyes, ICU patients who come to the department for tests, and other allied health personnel.

As a nurse with 30 years experience, it is NOT necessary to open a sterile syringe with gloves. However, her hands should be clean and obviously she didn’t video hand washing that she’s been doing all day and between patients. She did exactly as she should have in opening sterile packages - nothing got contaminated and no break in protocol. She is using correct aseptic technique. The only time you require sterile gloves is to handle items in surgery when you are dressed as a sterile person. Even the surgical assistants do not require gloves. I think you need to review the requirements of surgical glove use.
