This makes me so happy. As a someone who stopped tanning and lightening my hair after years of fake blond and fake tan and horrible rosacea, I have had a hard time with adjusting to being back to black hair and very pale skin with my light blue eyes. This made me excited about my natural features. So few influencers make me feel GOOD about myself, and this channel really does.

I think high contrast fair skin with dark hair is one of the most beautiful aesthetics! I never quite feel like myself when I have tanned or gone in with a ton of bronzer. I’m so glad you are embracing your natural features and I’m sure you will get more and more comfortable with your (stunning) makeup options to emphasize your natural beauty!

Hi Kackie. This video floored me. I am 65 freakin years old and have spent my entire life trying to figure out how to ‘marry’ my very very dark hair & brows to my very pale (Scottish) neutral skin tone without looking like Morticia Adams. This video finally answered a lot of questions. Every beauty consultant I went to for advice sold me foundation way too dark for my skin tone so I ended up looking like an orange, same goes for bronzer, too dark. You finally just told me what the hell is going on, I have a high contrast complexion 🥳 I may be 65, but I’m a young 65 and still love make up, so from now on I will trust what you have just shown me over any sales consultant because it made perfect sense. Thank you. By the way ….. you are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. You’re also a bloody riot 😂 Love ❤

It's been less than 24 hours since I found your channel and I've binged the entire color theory playlist and will continue! It's so rare to find someone who loves and understands color theory and you explain it in such a beautiful, accessible, applicable way. Thank you! I have a degree in art history (those who can't do, memorize what everyone else has done, lol) and am studying paramedical micropigmentation. I've never heard skin color theory described as well as you do, so thank you! I'd also like to volunteer my face for any of your experiments, haha. I've got incredibly fair, pinky cool undertone (NARS Oslo or Dior 0CR) with dark copper/gold hair. My skin requires cool undertone, hair is very warm, but cool eyeshadow makes me look bruised and warm lipstick goes orange. I have such a fun time playing with color. If you ever want to play color theory with my high-contrast, cool skin and warm hair, let me know when to buy the plane ticket 😉. Thank you again for sharing your passion!

Late comment so you may not see it but…fairly high contrast deep brunette here. I always seem to do a simple eye look and one reason may be I wear glasses (black frames). Just got me thinking. My natural tendency is the blush/lip side. I’ve always felt like I looked better with lipstick. Maybe I know why now. But have you ever done a video about makeup with glasses? Or choosing frames for you contrast level or ? I’d love that.

As a high contrast person... I have done makeup so many times that I would consider a lot but is really only like 6 steps - like most makeup wearing people would call that everyday... and then I feel SO made up and not like myself, and usually re do it all and am late lol. The way you did the makeup on the left is sort of what I've naturally come to like/do and I always feel the best like that. Appreciate having some more concrete tips!

As someone who is high-contrast (light skin, dark brown hair and brows, hazel eyes) I've also noticed that a lot of muted, less saturated tones tend to look brighter on me, especially lipsticks! I find it really hard to find a nude shade that actually looks good, and what tends to look better is something darker than you would think for someone as pale as I am but at the same time is a bit desaturated. Lighter nude shades pull bright on my complexion. My new favorite lipstick shade is the new Nars Explicit lipstick in Decadence (I tried this formula from your recommendation!)

FINALLY!! I have spent 20 of my last 40 years diagnosing why color disappears on me. I have red hair, fair skin with freckles, and black eyes-not dark brown they cast a reflection. I have applied my makeup to my very low contrast Indian bff (black hair, dark skin, brown/black eyes) and she looked stunning in my makeup and the same crap I use on myself countless times always looked muddy/gray regardless of color, product, consistency. I thought my only option was fake tanner and apparently subconsciously trying to lessen the contrast. And you are correct about lining the eyes it drastically reduces the “criminally insane” appearance. People are talking to me in public again 😂😂

One thing I’ve been thinking about with this renewed interest in understanding our contrast levels is the variation within a single contrast category and how there’s not one size fits all. There’s plenty to critique about the Kibbe body type system, but understanding myself as a gamine type made what I had already realized about the looks (fashion and makeup) I gravitate toward make so much sense. Because some of the contrast in my features isn’t about dark/light, it is the contrast described as yin/yang or sharp/soft. I think it allows my face to “hold” higher contrast makeup than you might think from just plugging my coloring into a filter.
@lesliespencer7942Ай бұрын
You def can carry off black! So interesting. I am v low contrast and have to wear black. So often I'm told I look tired. Will have to rethink the makeup. Thank you!
@charlotte-dp9szАй бұрын
kackie does really beautiful thoughtful make up for her bone structure and intensity. My mother always wore bright lipstick red nails and bobbed hair. She was medium to high contrast. It looked ok but she never looked beautiful because it was too harsh . Looking at your face carefully and asking yourself do I actually look better with blush/mascara/lipstick/ foundation is an important thing to do. Also many creams, spfs and foundations damage the look of your skin and start you down the pathway of ‘needing’ to wear foundation to cover up rather than wearing one occasionally to look glamorous. When in doubt be sparing and careful. On the flip side though Marilyn Monroe Sabrina carpenter and Audrey Hepburn are beauties made iconic by makeup. I guess it’s just a matter of experimenting.

I purchased some make up from the drugstore brand Flower. And its not bad. Its basically the same as luxury makeup for fraction of the cost. Apart from a couple of products I have been underwhelmed by most of my luxury makeup purchases recently. I prefer spending 9 bucks for a palette of mainly sparkly eye shadows I will never wear than spending 50 on an individual chantercaiille eyeshadow I will hardly ever wear. I'm winning!

For me it's the contrast level and visual weight that is SOOO confusing for me. Like what if you have a mix? High contrast features (visual weight) with lower contrast in color aka muted (saturation) and vice versa? I have practically no eyebrow naturally so nothing stands out in my face with no makeup but if I do put some then the colors are overwhelming my face and i want to take it all off lol. Does someone have a thought on that? Or making a video about this distinction would be great ;)) Edit: Im not sure if visual weight is the term, Im talking about the prominence of features ex. strong jaw, small eyes...
