Please keep in mind that the Snake Hashira was not late to the battle, but that Tengen's request for reinforcement came just before the battle. Each Hashiras has their own duties in their respective areas, so the Snake Hashira likely received the request and rushed over in between his own duties. However, the battle began immediately after Tengen made the request for reinforcement, and ended before the Snake Hashira arrived. The fact that the Snake Hashira arrived while there was still time until dawn shows that he tried to rush over as quickly as possible. The Snake Hashira's words are harsh, but I think he understands Tengen's abilities well in his heart, and doesn't want him to retire. Incidentally, in the official fan book, the Snake Hashira made it clear that he respects Tengen.

A few things, The mother died from complications due to untreated syphilis, which was also known by the name "Ume" back in that period of Japan. Which is so sad considering Ume (meaning plum) also Dakis real name, and basically marking her fate as a female born into the entertainment district. (Edit: the word was rather a combination of the kanji for poison, and plum) Aside from the obvious parallels between the Kamado siblings and the demon duo, I also want to point out how tragic it is how the world treated Gyuutaro as a demon until he became one, and physically one later. A little detail about that is that the insults Gyutarou gave to Tanjiro at the start of last episode were the same he received as a kid. This fight has been absolutely outstanding, and adding the layer of a backstory that points out most things wrong about the entertainment district and it’s mechanisms, where the beautiful are favored, and yet so powerless and disposable is adding the cherry to the top.

In S2E14, Daki got burned by Nezuko's blood demon art and said "just like that day, fire", kind of foreshadowing what she went through when she was still human😢 The words Gyutaro said to Tanjiro "not protecting your sister, disgraceful, coward, sad sack, good for nothing" were words that others had said to him (excluding not protcting your sister) and were probably words he wanted to say to himself😢 I want to recommend Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. It's beautifully written and has amazing storytelling, character design, animation, and music.

i believe the reason tanjiro was so kind to these two specifically is because he empathized with their situation. if you recall he was thinking that him and nezuko could be in their place... he understands the bond of siblings and he doesnt want to see them going down fighting each other when each other was all they had. Is Gyutaro evil tho? Or what we are supposed to get out of this is.... with the way everyone was treating him that was his only chance of survival? he was either gonna die or fight and play to his strengths... being he was good at violence and he could command fear. That was the only way he could keep himself and his sister alive. Being vicious and demonic...

Never have I been happier to hear Zenitsu screaming and Inosuke demanding food lol I love the transport cat so much so precious. I love the little detail that the insults Gyutaro threw at Tanjiro turn out to be the same ones thrown at him as a child because it really shows just how deeply traumatized he is as a person even all this time later and as a demon, he uses the same words said to him to hurt others. And yeah their backstory really shows exactly how they ended up the way they did. The only mercy they were ever shown was from a demon offering a second chance as a demon. And to them, that probably really did feel like mercy from the universe. Daki reverted back to Ume and Gyutaro tried to push her toward the light because I think he understood it was there to give her a chance. Because she never chose to be a demon, that choice was made for her. But she went with him instead. When they walk into the fire together you can briefly see that he also reverts back to his human appearance. Love that Adam has a Rengoku phone case now lol that's great I love that y'all have enjoyed this series so much. If you want some other shows to consider for the future, I highly recommend Frieren, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Delicious in Dungeon. Those three are different from each other but all very good shows!

A couple of things I thought of while watching your reaction: Samurai was a warrior class in Japan, but during Gyutaro and Daki's human lives in the Edo period it was a high hereditary status. So, just because had the right to own a fancy sword didn't mean you were good at using it. Also, during Tanjiro's time (the Taisho era), samurai lost the right to openly carry katana which is why Demon Slayer Corps members can catch grief for being seen with them in public. Commenters have explained about "ume" referring to syphilis, but the reason why it can be used as a girl's name is because it also means "plum," which is the type of flower seen on the hairpin with the samurai. I think a key point about how Gyutaro and Daki's story is set up during the entire arc is about Tanjiro and the audience's reactions. As you said, it seems extreme that Tanjiro can show compassion to the demons, but a big part of why he does is because he sees them as pitiful. Certainly if anyone can understand how a demon might have a deeper tragic story, it's the brother of Nezuko. But a key point is that the audience shouldn't have any sympathy for the two demons up to their deaths. The only way the audience can feel a bit how Tanjiro does is to witness that deeper story. The result is that the audience that couldn't understand Tanjiro's POV (which I think is enhanced by being able to smell the sadness and regret that demon's feel at their deaths) can see that they could be more compassionate like Tanjiro.

glad y'all mentioned adam's rengoku phone case because ngl i have been so curious since he brought up wanting rengoku merch 😅 phone cases are good merch too, pretty practical & non-cluttering but for the actual episode... tanjiro's comments when daki & gyutaro are arguing, about how no one will forgive them so they have to be there for each other. that's one of my favourite moments in any media. daki & gyutaro AREN'T redeemable. they flattened a whole town in one night! they remorselessly killed countless people over centuries! the people they hurt, and really any empathetic bystanders, are completely justified in hating them. and yet they still deserve to have someone by their side, even if it's only each other. i really, really appreciate the way tanjiro can simultaneously see & cherish the humanity in anyone while not forgiving actions that can never be forgivable. it's a level of nuance that's really challenging to write

Anime is a wonderful art form, but sometimes it addresses topics that are taboo for us in the West or that we think that they should be treated differently. Always remember this when watching a new series. The Japanese people have been through terrible situations throughout time and (to use the story of Gyutaro as an analogy) they ended up incorporating a certain harshness into their culture in order to survive. it seems like the hurt he endured in that life was so intense, he choose to stay a demon and collect from those who has a better life than him in every birth that comes from now. He hasn't overcome the trauma of a life choke full of unfair misfortune and deepest of depravities. He is carrying the the trauma and his anger and frustration from it to his next life. This anime kind of shows us the grey zone of being alive. Where we are often led to look at good and evil as black and white yet evil [ here the demons] are just people who have endured too much misfortune in life and crossed a line away from their humanity. Its a very nuanced way of saying hurt people, hurt people.

So when the siblings are crying in the in-between place (I don't know what to call it, because limbo is a western concept), "rebirth" is more of a remaining shred of their human beliefs/culture than any kind of literal demon ability.

Since I see so many recommendations I suggest Kimi Ni Todoke it's a shoujo story, so it'd be a bit different, relatively old ( around 15 years for the first seasons of the anime) but a clasic, most importantly, you get to hear Oikawa be the greenest of green flags and prototype for near perfect love interest (so maybe you warm up to his voice😜)

51:50 This isn’t a spoiler, but just general info! To become a Hashira, there are three ways (that I can remember)! The first one is to kill at least 50 demons. That’s why as the boys continue killing demons throughout the series, their ranks are gradually rising to the top. The second one is by slaying any of the Twelve Moons. If the second one is done, you’ll immediately be guaranteed a Hashira spot. The third is by being a Tsuguko (esteemed apprentice) of a Hashira! Like Kanao, who’s an official Tsuguko of Shinobu the Insect Hashira. But just because they’re a Tsuguko doesn’t mean they’ll immediately become a Hashira. They have to diligently work under their Hashira for years, and they can only replace their Hashira IF the Hashira dies.

Daki and Gyutaro are my favorite demons. I'm not defending them for what they've done, I just think that they have the most compelling back story especially when you contrast it with Tanjiro and Nezuko's situation. Gyutaro went down a dark path to protect his sister. At this point in time, there's little we know of what Tanjiro's willing to sacrifice for Nezuko besides turning into a demon himself since he refused Gyutaro's offer. Gyutaro and Daki lost sight of what was most important to them after over a century of killing people and doing Muzan's biddings until Tanjiro reminded them of it at the end. It's a touching story of a wholesome family bond that took a couple of very wrong turns, some due to the environment they were raised in, that eventually turned them into monsters.

I teared up when they showed Gyutaro & Daki's promise they made. That's so heartbreaking. What did they was definitely unforgivable but given their past circumstances, they were never met with better conditions than they do as demons. No humans offered any kindness to them. It's really sad what they had to go through at such a young age. Smol Nezuko is too previous, carrying Tanjiro and helping everyone. I love how the trio are just protecting Nezuko in the middle. I always love Sarah's ~KibutsujiMuzan~ LOL it was sounds like a different word, not his name anymore 🤣 I can't wait for new reaction series! Demon Slayer was my intro anime, I’m so happy to see y’all reacting to it! Next, I would LOVE to see you reacting to HunterXHunter or Frieren! HXH is very spunky, good story, good aesthetic, and the into/outro songs are stellar! Frieren is slice-of-life if magic were real, absolutely GORGEOUS story and music and aesthetic. Worth the watch and definitely an easy watch!!!

Daki/Gyutaro and Nezuko/Tanjiro are the perfect dichotomy to each other in every single way: familial relationship, environment, the people surrounding them. It's interesting when you think about how N/T could've ended up like D/G had the circumstances been different. D/G were saved by a demon and became demons, whereas N/T were saved by a demon slayer and became demon slayers. Their lives pretty much dictated who their saviors were and led them toward separate paths. Also, iirc the reason Daki stabbed the samurai guy in the eye is because he was saying terrible things about Gyutaro. She loves her brother and ofc wouldn't tolerate that kind of talk. Also, I believe the reason she was facing towards the light is because she wasn't the one who agreed to become a demon. She didn't make the choice. It was her brother who made the choice, which is why she had the opportunity to go to Heaven.

I love this episode, this somehow feels like a revenge after Rengoiku dying last time. It makes us appreciate the "everyone lives" even more. Hunter x Hunter and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood are very nice too, this would be fun !

I recommend "DanDaDan" which is currently airing. The first episode has some uncomfortable scenes, but it gets better from episode 2 onwards. There are a few dirty jokes though. In it, Tanjiro shouts just like Zenitsu.

Attack on titan is a must, you'll enjoy theorizing about it and fun fact : Light Yagami's voice actor is the same as the upper six that turned daki and gyutaro into demons

I'm super excited for you both to watch the next season! Yes I do agree that most hashiras that we haven't encountered are made to have bad impressions at first so I was very happy when Tengen finally grew on you guys. I love all the hashiras so much! Out of all the recommendations you mentioned, I'm rooting for Attack on Titan as it's considered to be one of the best anime of all time. The show does get kinda stressful though (more stressful than demon slayer) but it has the most insane writing. Looking forward to it!

🌟Vinland⚔️SAGA🌟 is so good. It’s a masterpiece. Westerners are more love this show than Japanese. （I’m Japanese. I wish this show loved more in Japan too.） Because this show is set in Northern Europe and UK. And there are many battle scenes. This show is a very deep , shocking and loving piece.

Oh, Adam would have kicked that head at some kid causing him to spin in mid-air. I like this episode a lot. Very good writing. I had the same thought process with the Beetlejuice Harshira when I watched this episode. Nice video, can't wait for the next. And I do recommend Fullmetal Alchemist, too.

Yes! I vote for Attack on Titan next! It's way more realistic and the fight and battle are intense. Sarah will definitely love Mikasa. 🤭

Attack on Titan and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood are both great, but I'd honestly recommend Frieren: Beyond Journey's End first. Frieren is the shortest of them all (largely because only Season 1 is out), and is just masterfully done. And I love how you can just feel the "No, don't you dare make me feel for these two" right before the backstories dropped
