Kocho feels like she needs to carry on her sister's legacy of feeling sympathy for demons and being able to find a way to befriend them, but it's not a belief she carries herself. She's forced herself over and over to try and befriend demons but every single one of them has tried to lie, murder, both, and more. We can see that when she tried to befriend one of the Older Sister Spider Demon. She asks about how many the demo had killed and she lies about that by a huge number. Then she tries to say that they can be friends but they first have to receive punishment for their crimes. The demon refuses showing that she feels no remorse at all for her actions. Then when she thinks that Shinobu is helpless being unable to behead demons, she tries to kill Shinobu thinking that there'd be no risk for her. This leaves Shinobu disappointed once again, and of course angry at all the lives that the demons there had taken. So it makes sense why she went for the kill with Nezuko right away. She had just tried to befriend one and it failed spectacularly, she doesn't really believe in her sister's dream, so she was done trying for the day. Just eliminate all the demons there and get the mission done before the demons can harm anybody else. They've probably seen an incident like that countless times before. Someone tries to protect their family member who had turned into a demon desperately thinking that there's a way to save them or that they'd be different. But no, every single one eventually loses out to their base instincts and ends up killing the same family member who tried to protect them out of a hunger for human blood.

Uhm I wanna recommend an anime here. I think beside Shounen type of anime, you guys would also love shoujo!! Hana Yori Dango or Ouran highschool hostclub or Kiss him not me!❤

8:22, he's mostly right. Someone who has USED the deathnote can't go to heaven or hell. The owner of the deathnote is the only one who can see and hear the shinigami until someone else touches it. If someone touches it, they can see and hear the shinigami but aren't the owner and can refrain from using it. Had Light left the notebook alone, which he could have, he could have gone to heaven or hell. This is an explanation i can give only bc i have future context, though. It's not a spoiler, just an understanding after watching it. It's only confirmed that if someone touches it, they can see ryuk, and the notebook belongs to light. It's SO, not horror, lol. Promised Never land is a horror anime. This is more thriller, I guess, but I actually feel like it's more shougo. You're watching people Duke it out, but it's with brains instead of muscle. Usually. It's almost mystery, too, but not quite that either. Ryuk is a little scary at 1st, and that's it. Light is scary, too, but not nightmare fuel. 18:44 no but common mistake. It was one name written 4 times quickly bc he didn't know how to spell his name. That was his 2nd kill. There's a lot of easy to confuse moment like this, but you can usually understand them with a re-watch.

As someone who was a very small kid I used to imagine every very tall kid as Bill hahahah I think sometimes its easier to take the exaggerations in this anime as something seen through a kids eyes, cuz nothing here makes sense if u look at it rationally, it's of course meant to be funny but I feel it's also the specific suspension of belief that a very imaginative kid has going on on their daily life

Please watch dub - this is a rare anime with great dub which is hobestly even better than the original. And you get all of the benefits being immersed in the story not reading the subs.

"He crossed the line" yesssss adam, some people don't notice that. And L indeed killed someone different from what it should be by law, so indeed not a goodie two shoes either. Plus both of them saying they are justice is... telling. Maybe Death Note's lesson is to run away from people who say that 😂 About it not ageing well... while it looks older, it was definitely a decision at the time to make the visuals darker so that aspect is the same. The animation (movement) is allright, many nowdays animes have worse animation - and many that are way better. Regarding the themes and representation, i think it's average. I would have changed a few things to make the story more interesting (like with 2 episodes we know there isn't a morale debate but two psychos), but that's not a passing of time thing either. And then female representation and inclusion could be way worse for a popular shounen anime 🙄 Tho still lacking, and still an author thing. In summary, Death Note stayed the same as when it was released. It didn't age well nor bad. It just is. Hahah having said that, the story is on my top choices to recommend as a first anime ever. Just not on my favourites at all Thank you for the reaction!

There's a similarly intriguing limited series anime (only 11 episodes) that's just called C (with the tagline "The Money of Soul and Possibility Control"). It's similar to Death Note in that it explores philosophical concepts through supernatural fantasy elements, but it explores economics rather than morality. Definitely worth a watch if you enjoy Death Note, though admittedly less polished.
