With Pike, I think this is the point where they are moving her from a “Life” cleric or healer as she was raised to a War Cleric, more combat and defense focused. Pike was raised to have her faith be fully serving by healing and justice, but her talents grew to be more useful in combat so that feels like a betrayal to her faith because her goddess is lesser known and she’s never seen a War Cleric of the Everlight. But that goddess is the goddess of forgiveness and lost souls, offering a ”light” in the darkness, so she would not care if Pike was a little rough around the edges.

um. No. Pike was always a War Domain cleric. Literally the whole time. That has been her subclass from the start. Light domain clerics dont get the ability "War Gods Blessing" and literally every cleric gets Turn/Destroy Undead. I dont know where you're getting this idea that you can change subclasses in DnD or the idea that Pike was ever a light domain cleric.
@jessdickensvo2 жыл бұрын
@@transientanus ok, I did not say “Light” Domain, I said “Life” Domain. Pike was a life domain cleric pre stream. They truncated it for the cartoon show, but she had a whole arc prestream after some events, where she went off on a ship and trained and fought and came back a war domain cleric. They’ve talked about it on Between the Sheets a couple of times. That’s not saying this is exactly that arc as everything is a bit different in the cartoon, but it is kind of a combination of subclass refit and the arc where she went to build the temple on Stream. At least that’s the way I viewed it. Don’t Forget to Love Each Other

5:03 in the campaign he is a bard (like scanlan). Bards use charisma to weave magic. Anders uses his speech. Bards can also use their inspiration to make it harder for enemies to hit them. I believe that is what Anders was doing when calling Percy names and not being hit.

Everytime Percy walks through the background and passes by an object in the foreground and seeing the mask just appear on his face is so cold. Also fun fact if I remember right part of why Pike lost her powers in the original campaign is because she brutally killed a guy in a fight or something along those lines (someone correct me if I’m wrong) and had to leave VM to go rebuild a temple to amend ties with the Everlight, which is also an excuse to have Pike not be around because her actress, Ashley Johnson, couldn’t be at the table because she was out filming a tv show in NY

There’s also the fact that Everlight is a goddess of redemption, benevolence and mercy but she has _no_ problem with violence and punishment against those who refuse to atone their evil acts and plan to continue enacting evil unto the world and others. Keyleth is 100% the most powerful member of the party when she goes all out. The others are strong and fast and skilled in their own right, but none can even come close to the pure power that Keyleth is capable of reaching if and when she puts herself to it. And she's constantly growing, constantly learning, constantly becoming more and more powerful as she continues on her journey. As a druid if she reaches a high enough level she can become functionally immortal, effectively only aging the equivalent of one year for every decade passed.
@transientanus2 жыл бұрын
Sure, keyleth is "more powerful" until Scanlan uses True Polymorph to turn her into a blueberry muffin. Or uses Wish to send her to the moon or the 9 Hells. You're not the most powerful when a single spell can end you.

@@transientanus I mean... that is true for most of D&D, but she just needs top make the save to win, and she has feeblemind. the thing about high lvl D&D casters is that in a 1v1 fight however acts first if the other fails the save, its an automatic win. that is why preparing yourself is so important, like getting a spell that gives you immunity or advantage on saves.

17:30 I think the best way to think about it is that The Everlight is a goddess representing light, peace, and heroic redemption. This animated adaptation seems to be reinterpreting the "heroic redemption" part into the idea that there are many paths in being a hero and you don't have to be the stereotypical kind. Nobody is ever completely safe. I'm not a proper critter, but I do know that (across multiple groups of heroes and what would be like 30+ seasons worth of animated episodes) main characters have died suddenly and unexpectedly. D&D game mechanics demand some creative license. Hitpoints are a kind of abstract combination of body mass, toughness, life-force, endurance, skill, and plain luck that a skilled adventurer displays in a heroic story. An arrow to the throat might mean instant death for either of two men. But it'll take more than one arrow sent against our skilled adventurer for them to become so worn down that an arrow will actually land in their neck to put them down on to the dirt.
