Your hair is looking super long. When are going to do a length check with a measuring tape and show us where it falls against your body? See, this is why I love you and your videos. YOU ALWAYS give people their due. You are always passing on information about other folks. You are so generous and supportive. You always communicate from where you got your information. AND you show where people can find the information. I really appreciate you. Thank you for your support.

I appreciate you more, Ms. Chicoro! You've taught me soooo much through your book, and continue to do so in the comments. Love ya! Re: length check -- I haven't really thought about doing another official one, but I suppose I should. My hair isn't really all that long, since cutting it. I'd say I'm armpit length, or so. xx

Fun fact: I mixed the protein in with a cheap thick cholesterol conditioner. It was easier to apply and I was able to use a precise amount. Sat under the dryer and it actually hardened. For those that don't want to mix it in conditioner as I have, try putting the liquid in a foaming bottle pump that can be purchased from amazon.

Yes -- I was planning to try the same thing! I was basically going to use the Aphogee as a protein booster, the way I use my Green Beauty Real Protein, but decided to go whole hog, instead. Great idea to try the foaming bottle, as well.

I’ve been wondering about this - does it still get hard? Would I still use heat in the same way?
@holyhighrollers2276 жыл бұрын
s va yes, the hair still hardens. Not potato chip crispy, there is a slight "give", however you free to adjust to more protein or less conditioner. The end results for me were the same. Afterward, I deep conditioned.

Yes, the foam method was such a game changer! If you wanted to save a step or two, it actually foams pretty well by giving it a good shake in the bottle.

I do this treatment every two months because I color my hair every four weeks. It's not such a difficult process, and I'm glad you found a way to do it without too much aggravation. I apply mine with a spray bottle in my shower.
@nappyheadedjojoba6 жыл бұрын
Yup, the spray bottle was my solution before, but I think making it into the foam will be my go-to, from now on!
@Sjmrsjohnson16 жыл бұрын
Try using a foaming bottle instead that way you don’t have to whisk it , just pour and pump. I reused my Dial antibacterial foaming hand wash bottle ( I’m frugal like that) the soap cost about 3 bucks and you can put the content of the small bottle of apogee in it . Hope this helps

I like Aphogee; I wish they (and Nexxus) still made their Botanic Oil. I just bought Mizani Kerfuse, the protein treatment I loved and used to use when my hair was relaxed. Will see if it’s still Holy Grail on my natural hair. Kudos to you re: never having relaxer 🙌🏾!

I look forward to it. Take care.

Great video and advice. Note to those applying and drying with glasses on...they will harden to your head lol. But will come off no fuss during the rinse. I did not try to take them off and I do not think anyone should try.

I’m so surprised that you’ve never used the part 2 balanced moisturizer conditioner! Many type 4 naturals rave about how it’s one of the only conditioners that work well on kinky hair. Is there any specific reason why you’ve chosen to opt out? Would you ever try it?

This is an oldie but goodie! Love apogee. I have a question about the GB real protein, do you ever mix it with conditioners that already have a little protein or only with conditioners that have 0 protein ingredients?
@nappyheadedjojoba6 жыл бұрын
I have mixed it with condish that already has some protein in it, but I generally reserve it for ones that *don't* have protein, since I don't see the need to double down and go through my GB faster.

Can a protein treatment and silk press be performed on hair same day?
@imac40826 жыл бұрын
Hello Ti and anyone else scrolling. Now that this is fresh in your mind, do you think a henna gloss or treatment does the same amount of strengthening? Have you ever tried the diy protein treatment of unflavored gelatin? If so, can you speak to that comparison please. Happy weekend!
@nappyheadedjojoba6 жыл бұрын
The only "diy" protein I've tried is Greek yogurt (and yes, there is a video), but I haven't found definitive evidence on whether the protein in that is hydrolyzed/small enough to even fortify the hair, so I hesitate to call it a protein treatment, since it may not be. Henna does help to strengthen my hair, however I don't find that it does enough to completely skip real hydrolyzed proteins altogether.
@imac40826 жыл бұрын
@@nappyheadedjojoba Thanks for the reply. I have seen your Greek yogurt video AND I have tried it. I usually mix the yogurt, henna, moringa, some oils, and a conditioner I don't like but have in my stash to use up when I feel like my hair needs a boost. It does the trick but . . . . I like trying new things. 😅

Yes, I am planning to try Melanin at some point, but I have sooo many products to use up, first. I think I've heard the word "Olaplex" before, but I don't know what it is!
@bbappzz986 жыл бұрын
@@nappyheadedjojoba you can watch labmuffin's video on olaplex (she has a phd in chemistry) and breaks it down really good. it is not a protein treatment but it helps repair broken bonds in hair strands by adding in another chemical that links those broken bonds back together again. it's some cool science :)

This is a longg one on my experience with aphogee. I vowed to never use aphogee again and just stick to green beauty after my one and only bad experience about 8 months back, now you’ve got me second guessing lol. Maybe I had a bad batch (I bought the individual packet instead of the bottle bc the bottles aren’t sealed and I’m paranoid). Perhaps I spent too much time applying step 1 but after finishing a couple sections I noticed there was a lot of breakage in my hands, first I thought it was normal but it became excessive. I started to touch random parts of my hair and I noticed it was breaking off from any section that I touched when my natural breakage only comes from the ends. I guess the built up product on my hands quickly got sticky and dry and was actually sticking to my hair strands then breaking them as I worked the product through. I remedied that by rinsing my hands after applying to each section and trying to work quicker but still was getting more breakage than normal 🤔By this experience aphogee could be an effective body hair removal system if I’m ever in a crunch. Did you experience the stickiness to the point of breakage when applying? That terribly sticky feeling all over my shoulders and ears just adds to the drama. Seriously my wash day is already a lot, I don’t need that ish. I had about 12 inches of hair at the time and the blow drying process shrunk it down to about 1.5-2 inches which for me equals a detangling nightmare. If I do use again I will twist after applying. I always wash in twist but the aphogee instructions and many youtubers didn’t advise so I thought I was playing it safe (tuh) Also for anyone that doesn’t rinse hair in the shower (eg bathtub or sink)...only rinse this out in the shower. If you have to contort in any weird way to get your hair into the water stream, do it in the shower. Two small sections of my hair broke down to half an inch evenly which I can only attribute to me bumping my dry hair into the faucet without realizing Bc of all the error I experienced I thought I’d stick to the much less complicated green beauty application. But I can’t deny even after the whole struggle my hair felt much stronger and breakage was drastically minimized. After recent mechanical damage I too have been considering a stronger treatment just to put me back in a good place. If I use the foam I may be able to apply quicker and avoid product buildup on my hands and even avoid the dreaded sticky shoulders. Applying and rinsing in the shower could eradicate the extra damage I caused by bumping the faucet 🙏🏾 pray for me y’all I think I’ll give it one more shot. Ti, you were just in time!

APHOGEE is life and so old school, I'm trying to use natural alternatives (it's a struggle) however I never hate on peeps that use it because bottom line it works. I used it when I was a pressNcurl girl never a perm. And thank you for the truth about the passion twist take down. The style is so tempting and pretty but that was my deprivation cause of the weblike stretching of the hair (why would peeps be upset) maybe twist pretwisting our hair and then twist the hair around it? um maybe not lol it might work :)
