Honestly I didn't even think the "boring" version sounded bad. I thought it sounded pretty good then you enhanced it even further. Just goes to show that we don't know what we don't know I guess.

Awesome Austin. Super rad. Can you explain your perspective on layering with regards to avoiding masking/frequency build up etc? It seems it's something that can become a big mess quite easily but you do it with ease. Is your general approach to mainly keep a lot of things lower in the mix and they kind of work themselves out that way?

We actually do that already. It’s hard to get the vocals consistent because a lot of times these songs are fully mixed and mastered, but I’m soloing elements throughout the video. What are you listening on though? Just rewatched a few parts and it doesn’t sound abrasive to me from talking parts to audio parts.

@@MakePopMusic Hey man, first of all thanks for taking my comment seriously and responding so quickly. I was listening on my Yamaha HS7s. For me especially the chorus was too loud compared to your voice, e.g. at 15:08. When I'm listening on smaller speakers there is still the difference, but not as much. Again: Thank you!
