We are continuing to work to prep for the upcoming season. In this video we discuss what we have been up to and why we switched from planting 50/50 corn and soybeans to planting roughly 90% soybeans and 10% sorghum this year.

We are back posting videos! We are going to try to have weekly videos every Monday of what we are doing to prep for season in order to try to showcase things we do during the off-season. Some videos will be property work, some will be public land scouting so make sure to check back in every week to see what we have been up to.

Thanks! Love the forum, it’s where we have learned most of what we know about switchgrass and we have plugged it many times while talking about it! At the very least it helps with encouraging us to be patient with establishing switch lol

Haha we take it to a whole new level on this property! Our goal is to make sure the deer herd has food year round. It gets a little crazy, but we have seen a healthier deer herd after doing this the last couple years haha

How important is it to get all covered when spraying ? Is it not safe ?
@BrunkOutdoors
@BrunkOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure that we are qualified to answer that. It certainly isn’t good for you with long term exposure, so I would always cover up as best you can but not stress about it too much for just a food plotter. Always go by the labels

Are you planting any brassica? There seems to be a lull between when the beans turn yellow and deer finally start eating the pods. Sometimes in my area it’s well into December before they will touch them. A combination of cereal rye and brassica plots seems to bridge the gap nicely..

I'm interested in the box blind. Do you have a tour video of just the blind?
@BrunkOutdoors
@BrunkOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
We don’t have one yet but we have been trying to coordinate with the owner of sniper blinds to do a tour of his different models! Hopefully soon! They are great blinds that are built local at a great price

@@BrunkOutdoors I have built several blind and sold most of them. There are tons of box blinds out there on the market. After 40 years of hunting, and building a lot of box blinds on my own, I feel the uniqueness of a blind is what sets it apart from everyone else's. I was curious what sets your blind apart from all the other cookie cutter blinds on the market? So, a tour of your blind would be great. I will be looking forward to seeing the video. It looks great on the outside. I hope the inside is as good as the outside.

Are you using the sorghum as a food/edge? What type? I'm planting some sorghum plots in an ag field conversion for year one structure.
@BrunkOutdoors
@BrunkOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, using as both food and edge. We did 3 rows of tall plot screen variety and 3 rows of grain sorghum out of a 6 row planter. In next weeks video there will be more details on all of that!
