Hello everyone as promised today I will be showing you live how I repair my dried out Decoart Metallic Lustre Waxes, this hack may apply to other brands as well. I have only tried it on Decoart brand since those are the ones that always dry out the fastest on me.
Stay tuned for materials needed and process. Will also demo the fixes wax to see final results.

Absolutely brilliant solution, thank you! I had 8 small tubs of Creative Expressions gilding was which was unusable as it was solid. I tried working in a bit of ONE which loosened a tiny bit of the surface last year. I gave up and put it away again thinking it would be destined for the bin if I didn't find a remedy. I purchased Sculpy clay softener and thinner and added a spray of water to each while I waited on my purchase arriving the next day. I added 6 or 8 drops and worked the liquids together into the slightly less hard wax. After a few minutes each pot is lovely and malleable and usable again. Thanks so much!😍

I just noticed auto corrections, should have read, creative expressions gilding wax, and I had tried using OMS before which was a fail, it only slightly moved a fraction of the surface. I'm so glad I found your video, I still have lovely creamy consistency in the pots I brought back to live using your very helpful tip! 👍😀👏👏👏❤ thanks again.

does you restored metal wax still produce a high luster on objects or does the water dull it down a lot

A mortar and pestle would be a good way to grind up the dried product. I tried this with an old, dried out tube of Rub-N-Buff, which smells strongly of linseed oil. I didn’t have linseed oil on hand, so I threw in a few drops of baby oil instead. Worked just fine! Thanks for the video. ✌️

yes they are temporary solutions but you have to use what you have available, thanks for the baby oil tip, I will try that one as well in the future😍 Thanks for the visit and the comment 💖

Lifesaver. I have one of these in every color and didn’t want to repurchase (they make a LOT of colors, it will get expensive $) and you’ve saved me from that! Happy long- term sub here! I just realized I have water tight 1 oz tins… I think I’ll transfer all mine to those!

I tried working in a bit of OMS which loosened a tiny bit of the surface of it last year, I wasn't impressed with the results so I gave up and put it away again, thinking it would be destined for the bin if I didn't find a better remedy. I ordered Sculpy clay "softener and thinner" and meantime added a spray of water to each pot while I waited on my purchase arriving the next day. When it did, I added 6 to 8 drops into the small container and worked the liquids together into the then, slightly less hard wax. I tried this rescue tip (in the UK) with creative expressions metallic gilding wax pots (Hobbycraft brand I think) and it works! The sculpture softener needs working in with a spatula but it certainly saves the pots from the waste bin!! Thank you.

You are brilliant!! Thank you so very much, this works beautifully! I might have accidentally used too much softener, which gave the metallic wax a gel-like consistency. However, in the end, it was still a user-friendly product (for me). For buffing purposes, of course, one would want it in a more solid state. I tested the Sculpey softener on a piece of watercolor paper ...it did not leave any discernible mark. I tried softening with water, too... I put the water in the jar, let it sit for several hours. The wax only absorbed what it needed, then I poured the excess water out.

Carmen went into “MacGyver mode”🤣🤣. That’s so creative....clay softener😍. Yes, I would love to know if this it works on Inka Gold too. I didn’t purchase any because crafters were complaining already. You are truly a product saver...very clever💕💕. OMG!! I’m so happy you made this video because I refused to throw away the product. I’m going to try this but I need to get some clay softener, but when I try this technique I’ll let you know👍🏻👍🏻. That was pretty simple, and we can use the wax stuck on the baggie too. I’m so glad you made this video. Very informative, and thanks explaining your process. All mix media artist should see this video❤️. Thanks for sharing the knowledge💕💕💕

you are a lifesaver! I just went to use miy Decoart Matallic Lustre and it is really dried out. I found your video after searching many others and your tutorial is the one I am going to try. I do have a question you might be able to an~ I want to use this decoart that I have to change the color of hinges and closures to make them look vintage. is there a way to keep this product from coming off when handling the box? I though of sealing with a spray sealer. Do you think that will work of do you have another idea?
@HappyDayCrafts

@@Professional_ProCraftinator I would try it in a small batch and see give it a good mixing, wrap it in plastic or a jar and see if it stays the same for a couple of days before you mass produce 😉 if it dries its not working.

One of the properties of glycerine is that it never really dries. It would soften the product, but at some point you want it to dry and harden, especially on a piece of furniture that might come into contact with clothing. 🤔

All you need is a cheap bottle of spray on wax… spray a little on your hard wax and break it up with a spoon and mix…. 5 minute job.
