Not all 4C hair is the same. My hair is thin and I get fairy knots when my hair is natural. I’ve lost so much length and have so much more breakage with natural hair.

@@mirandataylor6385I can understand that because my hair is the same way. It’s thin but long past my shoulders, longer than it’s ever been. This same curly hair do can be done with gel. I’ve been using Phamily hair care gel and it made my hair grow. I won’t get a perm, curly or straight because I know that it’ll look thin and I don’t want to see that again. I’ve been going to a dermatologist for a year to get treatment for a type of alopecia so that it can get thicker.

I’m a cosmetologist. It’s not unique. It’s really a Jheri curl except she uses thio based (similar to a thermal reconditioned/Japanese hair straightener). She uses thio to straighten the hair then perms it with perm rods to reform the curls. I am natural coily curls. She admitted in a vlog that it’s a Jheri curl except she uses thio instead of a cream to straighten the hair. I’ve had curly 4a hair all my life. I’ve done relaxers, Japanese hair straighteners and curl reforming in the past. I’m natural again. It’s not worth it. It needs to be maintained or the hair breaks. It’s a fact. People are overpaying for a Jheri curl/wave nouveau variation. Once the hair is chemically altered it’s unpredictable and prone to damage and breakage. You are smart in doing protective styling to retain your length. I’m glad people are seeing a way to loosen and control frizzy curls. My hair is 4a coily curls but shrinks. Even I was tempted to do something but I feel safer leaving my hair natural and using products. I enjoy low maintenance. Your hair looks beautiful straight and suits your face. Thank you for your honest review

Great explanation! To my knowledge though, her using the Japanese straightening product left the hair with more volume. Whenever I do a wave nouveau on Virgin hair the hair has tons of volume the 1st one maybe 2 times. But after that you start to lose volume. I thought this product was supposed to help the hair to stay voluminous.

I really don't like that people keep saying "oh it's a Jheri curl". I also hold a cosmetology license and this falls under the same umbrella as the Jheri curl: curl reformation. It's a perm designed to repattern highly textured hair. There are different ones, and the chemical formation makes a big difference. I have tried other straightening products that have been thio based and experienced breakage at the scalp due to the chemicals. It is important to be careful that you choose a good professional, it is important to be sure you are getting services that agree with your scalp, your hair type, and your lifestyle. People saying it's a Jheri curl are factually incorrect, and also, they're saying it as if that is a bad thing. Some people wish they had curls, but just a looser texture of curls than their natural. There is nothing wrong with that. I myself am enamored with 3b- 3c curls, and would like that texture on myself. There's nothing wrong with it, and it doesn't mean anything bad to want to play with texture. No more than brunette white women who consistently bleach themselves blonde. If you like the look and it is good for your hair, wallet, and lifestyle, then great! Get it how you live it sis, don't let people shame you out of your creativity and play with your own head.

Thank you for the video. Anyone that pays $600 for a ginacurl ( 2021 version of the jheri curl only done different) is crazy. Forgive me, but this goes to show how tight people are with their money when it comes to a person their same color, but let someone colorless come along and they are ready to pay near a grand. I'm not saying one shouldn't go to someone of a different color for a hair service, but why pay hundreds more? Take it from the old school cosmetologists. The only difference in Gina curl/ jheri curl is that the Gina curl uses a Japanese straightening system, then role, then put the last chemical over the rollers and sit under dryer. The jheri curl is when you apply the chemical and then roll the hair and sit under the dryer. Sad.. Sisters have been doing the jheri curl for YEARS and then an individual comes along and tells people that there system is different and better, but it's NOT! People are just making this lady rich. You don't do it every month and since you are a cosmetologist you should know the price of a jherri curl monthly and if you multiply it by 6 you'll be short a few dollars. Some people do it once a year. So right now you're simply being argumentative

I can def say the processed hair becomes straighter over time... it does not revert back to your natural hair texture

This makes me sad. How did we go from wearing our natural hair to getting processes to fake looser curl patterns?
@luvfrenchie42 жыл бұрын
Why does that make you sad..some people express themselves through their hair and like to switch it up.. I have gone natural twice but just like the change sometimes.

I think your hair looks gorgeous straight or curly but it’s all about personal preference. I am a certified GinaCurl stylist in Texas and I’m happy to hear that you are sticking with Gina’s awesome GC straight variation. You have taken the time to educate yourself and know that this product formulation is not like the harsh relaxers, wave nouveau or carefree curls.

It’s no shade to anyone. It’s y’all hair do as you please. However I will NEVER pay 600 for any hairstyle let along this. Judging by this video my hair literally looks like this on ACCIDENT for FREE. i was talking to my stylist about this bc I’m natural And she said never will she ever offer this service and it’s a terrible thing to do to your hair. But to each it’s own

I would just do the original Japanese or Korean straightener. The best way to grow it out is exactly what she did, use protective styles. Jerri Curls did so much damage often permanent to peoples hair. The Japanese and Korean processes is easier on the hair when transitioning out if you do it correctly.

Honestly for all the negativity is unnecessary and you guys are truly uninformed the chemical in a Jheri curl and whichever other chemical curl products are the same her TECHNIQUE!!! Is different and go take a lesson on how to perform it so you can get your money up ultimately she has additional steps that none of those cheap box products you could find at your local store when the chemical is reapplied she protects the hair that’s already processed so it doesn’t get over processed come the rinse out and ultimately gives you education on how to care for your chemically processed hair another valid point to make she configured a way to have any black women do a twice a year chair visit !! She’s saving folks money if you think about the accumulation a salon visit ever two weeks plus weaves and the local curl chemicals recommend 8 week touch ups and people abuse there hair by applying every time they see a little new growth. Gina curl may not be for you but be respectful when you go to the bread aisle in the grocery store there’s many different breads we don’t buy them all but guess what someone is buying them !!! Y’all tasteless don’t make it a black and white thing in this instance it’s not and she’s open enough to show and provide all people to learn her techniques while many people gatekeep there products and techniques on how they achieve hair goals.

Why in the hell will y'all pay $600 for a freaking Gina curl. This is nothing more than a Jerry curl and you can go to the beauty supply place by the texturizer and do your own hair you get the same results. The Jheri curl is nothing new is started back in the 80s

@@luvfrenchie4 please stop going to her because that product is not hers and she's doing what our ppl have always done and still does for hundreds less. Find a black stylist and talk to her about the product Gina uses. Do your research on that stylist by talking to other clients of that stylist. I just hate for our ppl to be looked at as easy to get over on. I promise you there is no way it should cost that much. As for the just for me, that product doesn't have to be left on the hair for a long time and it's a very simple quick step.
