If you’ve been following my channel long enough then you know I believe my hair and that of numerous others was destroyed from the NO OILS, BUTTERS (NONB) & CURLY CUTS methods.
In the early stages of realizing we had damage, we were all desperately trying to figure out how to repair our hair on our own. We had to do it on our own because instead of the the founders of these methods stepping up to help us they did the exact opposite. Which in my opinion included lots of gaslighting during their LIVES they did on Instagram. I believe they also gaslit us by creating content to convey that what we were implementing to try and repair our hair weren’t necessary products. Such as leave-in and deep conditioner.
Fast forward, now all of a sudden they are saying leave-ins etc are bomb! When many of us feel our hair was in part ruined due to their recommendations of not using leave-ins, deep conditioners or products with oils and butters within the first 5 ingredients.
Since big chopping and adding those types of products back in all of our hair is now thriving!!! So it would be nice if 1. They stopped promoting the NONB method as it currently is structured. 2. If they just admitted they had it wrong and their recommendations to omit certain products and ingredients might be causing severe hair damage. 3. If they stopped playing in our faces by trying to quietly sprinkle in the very things we have used to repair our hair. While also, acting as if they discovered certain brands and products.

@@mcnissiecharlotte7602 I knew your name sounded familiar and I just connected all the dots! So I’m going to set the record straight here because there have been some things you’ve stated about myself and Rosie in these social media streets that’s not factual. 1. If you think BGC taught us how to emulsify K18 you’re dead wrong on that! Did they teach people how to emulsify conditioner and shampoo (which I no longer emulsify shampoo because it’s actually incorrect info) yes they did. However, K18 is a unique product that requires extreme emulsification! K18 has shared the proper way to emulsify and use it via their experts. That’s not a BGC thing. Matter of fact, guess who was the first person to ever ask about K18 in SSC during a live Aishia was conducting in there? ME!!!! And guess what happened? She got mad that I asked because she wasn’t familiar with it and said why are we concerning ourselves with stuff only the “professionals” should know about??? 2. You’ve mentioned before that BGC is trying to make changes and we should give them grace. If that’s the case why have they not done the right thing by truly publicly apologizing and saying hey we had some things wrong? Why do they do continue to do it quietly? Like in a story that disappears after 24 hours? Why not share it in a way where it would alleviate all the confusion so no one else goes through what we have? I’ll tell you why, because the egos are too big over there and they don’t want to have to admit we were right. 3. Next you’ve mentioned before the changes that have been taking place. Guess who figured it out? Rosie, Narada, TamZ and myself! We collectively did that while getting drug and being made fun of the entire time! Not to mention, the only reason they even know there were issues and how to fix them is because we have continued to speak up! So let me get this right. You don’t want to hear our thoughts about how traumatic this all has been but yet you’ve been open to hearing how we’ve been repairing our hair and getting it back healthy. Btw, haven’t you said that you’ve benefited from what we continue to share by stopping the botanical gels and adding back in leave-ins! Play that back and listen to how it sounds. It’s sounds like you’re okay with watching our content as long as it benefits you. It also sounds like agree with the stylist in my video which is honestly very hurtful. Lastly, it’s not ok or very nice to tell anyone who feels victimized that you’re bored and for them to stop sharing their traumatic experiences! Where’s the compassion Sis? I just don’t understand it but I’m honestly glad I don’t. 😑

@shelly.v.247 you are wrong shelly... I didn't say that BGC are the ones that taught you how to use or emulsify K18 I simply said they were the ones that really pushed the idea of emilsifying products even before K18 and you 2 want to steal that from them 2ndly.......I didn't stop using botanical gels cause of you or Rosie It was my own experience with the humidity in Uganda where I live and I don't even live in central Uganda. So I thought I would use botanical gels but turns out northern Uganda is so humid too cause Arua my town is so close to Congo and the Congo basin. I really never liked doing my hair without the leave ins so some content creator like @BrittanyMia who I really follow religiously cause she's been open minded and practical about the way she used the information from BGC made me pick up the leave ins again after just about a month of not using them I think the problem is you're trying so heard to make a point and have an argument with me about the comment I left but it was never meant to hurt you❤❤❤

I assure you after the truth came to light... I know Aishia been using leave ins and oils regularly to help repair her damage. After she had to publicly admit that her hair was indeed damage, after my video reaction of her and everyone shining the light on her hair. Now she's experimenting and trying to do anything she can to make her hair look like anything other than a fuzzy dry bush. Trust, she's low key watching and taking our advice, that's why she's using that Redkin treatment you recommended 😂

I was a hairstylist and I have 3B curly hair. I have NEVER liked curly cuts because 1) some people's curls do not always curl up the same in every situation so when its washed and restyled it can be mishapen, and 2) you can never wear it straight. Whenever I cut curly hair of any tightness or texture I cut it like I would cut any hair so that it could be worn however someone might want to wear it. I have also never understood the people who touted no oils and butters. In Africa and Asia people have been using oils and butters for CENTURIES, and these are some of the most impressive and healthiest heads of hair we still see today (excluding chemical processes). Shame on these people for putting profit over the well being of others.

This might seem weird to say but currently I’m in a high control religion. There’s been a lot of problems with the leadership lying and there’s a culture of forcing people to keep quiet and any criticism is framed as anti rhetoric. People are told to leave “quietly”. I see a lot of the same gaslighting and silencing tactics being used in the BGC space. Unfortunately, I think this is a harsh reality of cultish spaces and following it’s far easier to blame those who are hurting than having deep reflection and understanding what role you played in wrong doing. Example in my high control religion there has been very strict rules and we were told not to leave the path but then these very rules get changed all of a sudden leadership will claim that these teachings were never taught or enforced. You are doing an amazing job Shelley and standing strong and being a voice for many other women. I am so proud of you and wish I had this kind of strength when it came to the space I’m in.

Aww Sis that sounds so challenging to go through! I’m Not sure but that might even be harder because religion is involved. I just know I would probably have a very difficult time trying to navigate my way through that. I hope you continue to stay strong through it and advocate for what is right as best you can! ❤️‍🩹🙏🏽 I love how you used it as an example because I can definitely see the similarities in the cult like behavior. People have dug their heels in so deep that their ego would not allow them to come to the table and make it right when that option was still viable. All and all it’s an unfortunate turn of events within the natural hair community. Especially since so many of us are still struggling in this natural hair space. I hope at some point this is all a distant memory. 💖

@@shelly.v.247 Once the natural hair forum became a movement and the monetisers took note, the rest became history. Yes, can definitely see the cult-like status many have achieved as natural hair gurus emerged. I once pointed out that a certain 'high level' nat hair guru had edited out a key piece of info on her website's 'About Me' profile, that previously laid claim to her hair-heritage being from Cherokee origins, and was kinda shocked when I got a vitriolic response from one of her fans who came for me in the comments section. It never seemed to enter her head that their demi-god good ever be disingenuous enough to do such a thing. Don't even get me started on the whole texture hierarchy thing. Have unsubscribed from many a once promising YT'r.

I went through the whole black girl curls method. I even was a model once during their training for cut it kinky. I had a stylist who could cut hair really well who followed them and was trained by them, but I never listened to them about their ways of caring for my hair because it never felt good. When I returned for a cut again, my stylist would say your hair is so beautiful. Little did she know I was still using a leave-in and butter or oil sometimes and deep conditioning weekly. She could never detect it as they claimed while shampooing.

@@shelly.v.247 Yes!! I joined their first group (it wasn’t named See Some Curls) in Jan. 2019-you know as that whole it’s a new year and I will do better with my hair based on their methods. I just could not fully do it. However, I loved that they were training women to cut natural hair and product tips. I have the Wash Your Damn Hair e-books and all. Nonetheless, if you search within Anthony Dickey’s advice videos, there is one about oils and butters 2018 or 2019. It was me who asked him about butters and oils (he gets a bit snarky because he thought I was against them), but it was early on that I started see their videos pop up and seeing possible good results from other ladies omitting them. I was curious what his thoughts were as a stylist too. So I tried following them, but I kept Dickey’s advice the back of my mind-always. Like I said my stylist, I found could cut hair really well (before being trained by them for a tapered cut or a basic trim)-she’d shampoo and condition based on their ideology about natural hair and my hair would feel like a bag of corn chips-crunchy and dry day or two later. Plus, I never liked how they would convince ladies to leave with their hair style the way they did it like ramen noodles. Instead of running a brush through it to pull the curls together. What cause me to not follow any longer was the group. They were nasty in their and would allow ladies to upload like a naptural85 video and make fun of what she would put in her hair or other ladies who used oils butter or was doing too much. I complained via a DM message that I didn’t like that type of behavior similar to a regular Facebook group- they said they allowed the banter for fun (in so many words). I couldn’t continue to pay for that. BUT WEs ALL FREE NOW!! 😁

Yup‼️💯 If they can continue to promote them then we should be able to share our experiences with them! It’s like seeing someone use a particular wash and go combination in their hair. I need to see how it lives in the hair. Are there any downsides to using it? Does it leave flakes? Does it make the hair dry? There’s no difference in this because people need to know the possible negative or positive long term effects! Plus truth be told, this is all still very relatively new. We barely finished putting together all the pieces to even know what was happening and had happened to our hair. Not to mention, we all just big chopped or had to get the hair shaved completely off! So to tell us to get over it already is just insensitive and insulting to what we have endured! 🙁

This is going to be long but I hope to shed light on this . For the stylist to say just move on she has no idea what was really going on with some of these stylists. And while she’s giving Shelly advice to move on , did anyone ever say to the stylists involved that how they were handling this wasn’t right . I too was one of the people affected by this debacle and ended up doing a series of mini chops . When I realized what was going on with my hair thanks to Rosie and Shelly I talked to my stylist about it . The only thing I got was “oh I see what you are talking about “ and was given an Olaplex treatment . The next visit I said I’m using leave ins now and was told ok but just so you know I’m not doing that with my customers . From April to Nov 2023 no additional help , no recommendations only one olaplex and one k18 treatment but I was going every 8 weeks with a taper cut. Fast forward to October I say I can’t take this anymore and ask to start doing mini chops . At no point during this time as the professional did they ever suggest or recommend me cutting more off given the condition of my hair . I had to ask and even then asked me if I was sure . Go back in December and I say cut 3 inches again , somehow the cut become botched and the stylist says I think we should stop cutting now because it’s going to look boyish 😩😩😩…let’s be clear only one person had the scissors . Proceeds to recommend I let it grow for awhile . Now why that be the recommendation when it’s clear it damaged beyond repair , it’s not going to grow it’s going to get worse , this is what’s really going on that the curl specialist don’t know anything about . And to add to the gaslighting the bill was reduced by $100 without me asking however no explanation was provided at all for the reduction in price. And for those wondering did I say anything in that visit I did not because I knew it would go left very quickly based on my emotions in the moment because if I had acted it was not going to be a professional conversation . It should be noted at this visit a deep conditioner was also used on my hair but prior to that when I mentioned it at other visits was told it wasn’t necessary . That was my last visit ever , never said another word to them cause I knew I was getting ready to effect those coins . And imagine having them them reach out me after 4 months of not returning “ to check on me personally and that it wasn’t professional check in and wanted to make sure I’m okay” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Is that so, GTFOH !!!! And said stylist has also implemented leave ins in their own hair but it’s something wrong with the consumers ? If you made it through this long comment I just wanted to share there is nothing wrong with Shelly , cause they way they did some of us is WILD. Ugh I hate that you had to endure all of that! So funny because they love to say they can identify damage while it’s curly but can they really truly assess it? For you to have to push for a proper cut is crazy! Sounds like your previous knew that your hair needed to be dang near shaved once she got into the cut. She must have felt all the blood leave her veins when she realized it was probably due to the method & products she was pushing. Hence that quick impromptu $100 discount 🫣 I’m glad your hair is finally on the road to recovery Sis! None of us deserved to go through this and all the insensitive mud slinging has been almost unbearable at times! 🥺❤️‍🩹

It’s really crazy to me how someone would go out of their way to spread misinformation about our hair. If you don’t follow trends that’s great, but for people who trusted a stylist’s opinion, thats sickening and I saw that she was the pinned comment trying to silence you, on YOUR channel, the NERVE of people like that. I’ve big chopped my hair four times, and the third time was because a stylist heat damaged my hair and that level of devastation is unreal and then she tried to sell me bundles. So yes, we can talk about shady people like this as much as we want. We can talk about it until our hair grows to our waist😅those kind of people knew exactly what they were doing, they’re just mad that their bags are being compromised and the truth is coming out

Many of these stylists don’t have customer service or communication skills. Some of them have low vibrational energy and I would never let a person like that touch my hair even if they are great stylist. Energy transfers. Who’s going to pay upfront legal fees to bring a law suit? She’s clearly not a lawyer. It would be hard to sue CIK or BGC for damages because you would have to quantify your loss in dollars to have a case. And those losses better be greater than the legal fees you put out in the first place. How dare that stylist minimize your trauma and how you are processing! Maybe she should just unfollow you. Why didn’t she take her own advice and just keep her opinion private and keep it moving? No one has the right to minimize or mute your voice

Here's the thing. I, for one, have no horse in this race. I tried the method, but was fortunately not as affected by it as so many others. I've never been an oil or hair grease fan, either. I choose to keep my hair short and graying, and I love that for me. But, I'm still Team Shelly, Rosie, Tamz, and Narada! It's not right to attempt to denegrate others' experiences, even though it's not yours. You all are attempting to be a bright light and a haven to others who may be experiencing the same thing! Just because it hasn't happened to one, doesn't mean it's not happening to others. You could choose to bypass the videos if it's irritating to you or be encouraging to others, even though that hasn't been your own experience. Keep doing what you feel is right. It is! ❤

Also, if you don’t care to hear about it simply say no thank you and go on to your next video. 😅 I feel as long as they are still promoting this method. We need to still create awareness around it. For example, it’s honestly been shocking to me, just how many people didn’t realize she is using leave-ins again. It may sound silly to some but it’s a pivotal part in this conversation. So I thank you for your support and understanding as we continue to navigate our way through this difficult period. ❤️‍🩹🙏🏽

The curl specialist who you showed makes no sense. At a point no one knew exactly how the method was destroying your hair . Now there are some clues - over washing with strong clarifier and removing all oils. With a lawyer and courts you need proof or multiple people having the same complaint . It actually works to your favor now to continue to talk about it - so more people will come out with similar complaints . Not to say you will sue.

For those of us who went natural back in the late 90s/early 2000s, all of this stuff feels incredibly complicated and convoluted. We had very little professional help back then, so we had to get to know our own hair. There isn't a one size fits all with hair. Most of the products folks rave about my hair hates, and that's been since my relaxed days. if you know you have healthy hair, that's been thriving for years, don't change a thing. Where I live we tend to have brutal winters. Combine that with radiator heating, and my hair would look like tumbleweed if I didn't use leave-ins, deep conditioners, and oil. I'm glad they got to the root of the problem.

I did a mimi big chop to a short bob about three weeks ago, my hair was still breaking and continued to have mid-shaft split ends. On Friday, I went to my stylist and we just cut it all off. I was looking back at pictures and my hair was so healthy when I just used olive oil and a leave in conditioner with a little bit big of gel. I just got tired of oil getting in my pillows and sheets, which is why I resorted to trying that dumb method, plus I never used oil when I had a relaxer back in thr day as well. Oh well. Back to using my raw oils, co washing more and just leaving it alone. One great thing about natural hair is it's grows back super quick!!

Greetings! This one is going to be long. My apologies in advance. I've been in the background of this entire debacle (if that's the proper word). I remember BGC back when I was growing my hair out after sustaining heat damage throughout the majority of my head resulting in a big chop (listening to that Cyngirl took me there). I was okay with the washing your hair doctrine, because I personally had a horrible reaction to conditioner only washing one too many times for me to never want to do it again. Also, I have dandruff so washing my hair made sense. What was aslo pulling me in was the short wash day sessions. To find a method where I wasn't in my head all day pulled me in. What I couldn't get into the was the no oils/butters etc. When you know the reason for us even adding oils, butters, etc. you know what they're talking about is completely wrong. We add oils/butters, etc. to the hair, because the natural oil secreted from our scalps takes longer to travel from the root to the end, because of the spiral nature. Or for some, the oil doesn't even leave the scalp. It sits there. So without that oil, our hair gets dry. The ends don't slide past each other so knots form quickly and badly and all that friction creates a mess. What made me turn off from them officially was a comment made by the other one, Aeleise, when she said something in the frame of 'It's just hair and if you damage it that's fine you can cut is off and it grows back.' I said to myself, "Aha! Now I know why you have to approach and ideas you have." These people aren't about caring for your hair. They aren't even in the business of producing healthy hair. They are about making $300+ per head for stylists from naturals. Fast forward years later, I see these women have created a crisis and won't back down from it, because they've made money teaching these stylists to maim their clients for $300+ every other week in some cases. Only for the very person preaching this method and who needs ALLLLLLL of the oil/butters, etc., because her hair is bleached to no end to say, "Oh my bad. You do need a leave-in." That's b.s. Now you want to say some oil/butter is good for the hair now? Why? Is it because your hair didn't look as dehydrated as it usually does? Are we now going to start seeing add leave-in before botanicals gels in content now? I do thank you all (Rosie, Narada, etc.) for bringing this to the light. Folks need to hear and see this content if they're thinking about going down that road. I was happy to listen to my gut and continue what I've always knew from YT university from OG natural hair YTers. Also, I've gotten back with a professional, because I do color and bleach (I'm a red/merlot head). So I'm careful to make sure my hair stays hydrated, moisturized, and routinely trimmed on top of keratin treatments. And thanks to ya'll, I've started back to adding oil to my hair and I've seen a difference in the slippage. Kudos to you all. Keep up the good work.

Also, what are the keratin treatments you do please? My hair stylist friend was recommending them for my daughters who have mixed ethnicity hair Caucasian and Jamaican
@lilbaby245
@lilbaby245 2 ай бұрын
@Phistea86 I actually go to a stylist at my local Ulta. They offer a keratin treatment that's designed to control the frizz. And when my stylist does my trims, she does them on straightened hair. She cuts my hair in layers. I think that's what I'm seeing from people who say they don't like their hair shape after it reverts from the cut. Their stylist may have not consulted with them on how they like to wear their hair when it reverts. So they don't trim or cut in a manner that's advantageous to that.

It’s now just below collar bone as a result of ends that just stayed needing to be cut. I started experiencing issues at the same time as you & didn’t attribute it to the method until hearing your stories. I added back in leave ins, deep conditioning, co-washing mid week as needed, and not using AG Boost every wash day. It’s made a big difference. My curls even look different now. I believe I’ve spared needed to do additional major cutting because I caught it thanks to you ladies. Thanks for your persistence & sharing your story. It’s helped tremendously change the trajectory of the natural hair industry. I do still thank BGC for teaching me a little about proper shampooing & how to do a wash n go - I style I always thought my hair couldn’t do. It’s now my only style due to the convenience. I love that BGC helped many women of color understand the importance of properly and routinely washing their hair. Although that was something I was already doing I realize many were not. I also truly appreciate how they helped so many learn to love their hair in a wash and go. No one can take those things away and we shouldn’t try to. HOWEVER, when we raised concerns they should have met us at the table and helped us troubleshoot, pivot and correct the issues. Instead they did the complete opposite. It’s just unfortunate they wouldn’t put the egos to the side and figure out solutions together. I personally voiced being willing to do the work to make it happen during that window of time. Now it’s clearly too late because the damage is done. 😒

I got color back in 2020 but didn't know how to take care of it. I big chopped when my hair looked like hers. It wasn't nearly as bad as hers. Just by the look of her hair, I wouldn't have listened to her. I unfollowed. Thanks for speaking up. I went to a Black dermatologist, and she is helping me. I feel myself creeping back into the product wotld. Nope. I'm sticking with Keranique, Nutrafol, and the prescriptions that she gave me. I just saw another video about Mielle, so this has strengthened my resolve to stay away from too many hyped up products. I'm tired of stylists as well. The Dallas area has a Black blowout bar. I'm just going to them quarterly. She used K18 and sent me home with a sample that will last at least 3-4 washes. I thought my curly pattern was looser because it's longer. 3 uses of K18, and my curls are as tight as they were when it was first growing out. I started with a bald fade. I've been big chopping for 30 years, so thankfully, I love a fade, a pixie, and a fro!!!

Just wanted to say thanks for bringing all this to light! It made me reevaluate everything and I realised my length has been stagnant for two years. It seems using gels only was making my ends break off and I wasn’t retaining any length. My hair wasn’t super damaged but it should have been longer. I also have a lot of layers that I don’t really want! Before starting this method, my hair was mid back length, since starting it, it’s stayed at armpit length. I’ve since reintroduced oils and butters and leave-ins. I also don’t do wash and gos anymore - I’m back to twist outs only, as I used to do before. I also don’t know if someone has flagged this but BGC recently sent an email about why she’s not using AG balance 😂 Sound familiar?!

Shelly, keep being the avenger! These BCG stylist should be a shame of themselves! Instead of laughing and cursing, they should admit they were wrong, give credit where credit is due, and do better! Just thinking of all the women who have lost their hair because they trusted them, makes me sick.

Madam A is soon gonna big chop from all the damage i can feel it And watch how she will try to rebrand that as if it wasn't because of damage At this point im tired of all their mess, they are banking on us having amnesia so they can sweep everything quietly under the rug...:im truly tired of them I like that you keep making these videos because tea is tea lol but more importantly there are others who are still for the first time making sense of why their hair is jacked up from following BGC, these videos will definitely help them🎉

Thank you Sis! They seem to be trying to make the changes we discovered but they are doing it quietly. Like, only putting it in their stories which disappear after 24 hours. Why not just come out publicly and make a clear statement saying…hey we had it wrong and we are very sorry! Nope, because the egos are way too big for that! It’s just a shame and we got long memories! Thank you for your continued love and support. It doesn’t go unnoticed! ❤️💯😘

Awww Shelly V I am so very sorry this is still going on. I am sorry that folks are jumping on the BGC’s bandwagon. I too had to cut my hair off as well. I am grateful that I did not have to shave my head. I applaud these ladies who came forward with their stories. I laughed when I saw her saying she was wrong. She should address also why some folks had to big chop or shave their heads!! She was in a video after straightening her hair and her ends were fried. All you can do beautiful is continue to do you!! I have no clue! Supposedly this method was rooted in science but I think the science is that learned in cosmetology school. As you know they don’t really teach about textured hair in those programs. So I think what was learned was applied as if it can fully work on our hair too. Routinely shampooing. Absolutely! Using a good rinse out afterwards. Yes for sure! But all that other mess is something I don’t understand at all! Oh and the crazy part is they suggest it for all coily, kinky and curly hair textures. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Shelly, thank you for speaking up about your experience. While I didn’t completely get on the no oils/butter train, I did use a lot of the recommended products for washing/styling my hair (innersense hydrating hair bath, conditioner and ICH gel and AG care balance shampoo) and I noticed my hair was extremely dry after about four months into using the products. And that was with weekly deep conditioning and using leave in conditioner. I had to cut about 6 inches of hair to get my hair back healthy. So I can only imagine how bad the damage would have been if I was following their method completely like you did. Keep sharing your experience because it has definitely helped us get back on track with our healthy hair goals. BTW your hair is thriving!!!

Hmmmmm I wonder why that is! Enter my hair as exhibit A. then go to all the other heads of hair that have added them back in. Why??? Because they make a huge difference and the hair is healthier with them in it! They see it too because they are clearly watching!!!! 💯

She was dismissing people, gaslighting and encouraging people to report the ones who were right. So yeah, she's gonna keep taking these L's for a while. And her followers who supported her or said that this whole thing should be dropped can take some L's too because they were trying to silence people who were negatively affected by the no oils/no butter curly cut business.

Now, the lady is basically saying, “Oh well, I made a mistake, you can use a leave in (ha ha). Now, that you had to do a big chop, spent so much money on hair appointments and products to restore the integrity of your hair, but not before you cut it off again. No, keep on talking, keep on sharing the information. It is not you, it is them. hi shelly, a while after stopping this method and going back to creams and leave-ins in an afro, i had an appointment with my dermatologist, and as soon i said gel, she didnt care if it was humectant or whatever she blatantly said its no good and drying and supported me putting oil (also a dermatitis treatment) throughout my whole head. She also said to not braid it and keep it out, which was the bad advice (white doctor lol). Long story short my single strand knots kept eating up all my new growth, even with healthy hair otherwise. Just too curly. It would grow then when I would trim every few months it would be back to the same length. I am going back to dreadlocks as my only real goal was to put them in long twists since i dont like to restyle my hair often and i have to wash it a lot for my scalp. Doing it myself with interlocking. Two years in an afro with and w/o the "method", vs just 2 weeks with starter dreads again i feel so much better with myself. Wishing everyone here hair THEY love!!

Word on the street has it that the blonde one recently made fun of your damaged hair on Instagram. I’m so glad I disengaged from them early on, most of their advice and poor attitudes never sat right with me and this video proves I made the right decision. I don’t think it’s possible to be both competent and cruel, and even if it was I would never put up with a mean spirited hairdresser. I can’t trust you to have my best interests at heart if you can’t even treat me with respect. They’re awful people and I’m so sorry they took your money, ruined your hair and refuse to accept responsibility for it. There’s a special place in hell for dishonest people like that.

Well first off I’m not surprised that she made fun of my hair being damaged. That’s just the type of person she seems to be like. Second, her making fun of me is basically her making fun of every single person who’s hair has been damaged by her no oils & butters method. At the end of the day I don’t know how she sleeps at night. I would not be able to if I were her. But most importantly, karma never loses an address! Good or bad it never does. That was a poor attempt on her part in acknowledging that she was wrong. I'm also still not hearing an acknowledgment about how not using a leave in could have potentially caused damage and did cause damage and I don't think we're ever gonna get that. I think it's a backwards way of sneaking in to your clientele that leave ins are not the devil they were made out to be especially in terms of affecting styling outcomes and maximum curl definition. So it's almost like you get to say you should use them but more from a esthetic point of view as opposed to a healthy hair point of view when healthy hair is supposed to be main goal And what a majority of clients sought their expertise for. For me it goes back to how you deliver messages and take accountability period. And if you really are stating you were wrong in regard to the use of leaving conditioners then you need to have a serious conversation about that especially given everything that transpired over the last year or so. As a consumer I would have way more respect for that.

I've always just used a leave in for daily care and use products for hold. But what I can't wrap my head around, is why anyone, who deals w her own hair everyday, would let someone who's never touched her hair, tell her what's best for her hair? Hair is so personal and unique to each of us. It's almost like letting a stranger, who's never seen you, pick your foundation shade. I wash my hair a few times a week and wet it daily, and no one can tell me that's bad for my hair bc I know my hair...and she behaves best clean (Shampoo), hydrated (Conditioner), and moisturized (Leave In). Don't care how much rhetoric there is about Black hair not needing shampoo regularly. Maybe it's just my Leo energy, but no one can tell me anything about my hair! Except my mama, bc she knows it even better than I do 😂
