Another really good tip for those that use the metal omnimatrix or toffleymyar, is that once you have seated it, get u bur and remove the excess metal so that you are flush with the marginal ridge of the adjacent tooth. you get better contacts, waste less material, and less adjusting on the occlusion. I figured this out for myself and decided to share it.

A good tip I've learned is that when the numbed up patient is unsure whether it's high or not, between left and right hand side, that's the sign to stop cutting your filling down

I carved the anatomy really well today on my first composite case but ended up ruining it in reducing the high points

This is the problem you see - most textbook anatomy belongs only in textbooks. In the real world with worn/damaged teeth, we must respect the opposing tooth contours :)

Hello! Huge fan of your content. Can you please describe what does"holding shim" means? Or direct me to a source for explanation. TIA.
@protrusive
@protrusive 11 күн бұрын
Hi Mamta! So, shimstock foil is like an articulating paper/foil that is just 8 microns thin. It does not ink the tooth. When the patient bites together and you have the foil between the teeth, if it's a TRUE contact, that's called holding shim. If, however, you are able to pull the shim stock through, it means the teeth were not touching / not holding shim (although with thicker articulating paper it will give you the illusion that they were contacting due to the ink) Hope that helps!

Hey Jaz, got any good amalgam carving tips? It's no longer used widespread, but it would be great if you can archive a great amalgam artist and their tips before the knowledge is truly lost. :D

Or maybe use the GABS rule when adjusting occlusion, that is, grind all the blue spot. Just kidding! Love your vids!

Hey bro I got a filling RC on tooth 41 dead tooth for 25 years 1st temporary filling went back same endodontist 2nd final filling .. feels like some thing off not sure . Top tooth bitting on it . The Rc tooth Touches the top tooth 1st comparing to left one some times the other tooth to right touches 1st to relax the jaws is that natural. When I have have a power in pushing chewing down seems 41 tooth is pressured down more . More pressuring down wards on 41 tooth when resting. Chewing noticed bitting down more on ..maybe bitting more on it when chewing. Even chewing from the sides that tooth is provided more pressure chewing down. Even coming down slightly to chew that tooth bitting down like a pressure first. Seems like a force touch Any idea on your experience would be appreciated?

Hi - thanks for commenting. As you know, this channel is for Dentists. However, the advice I can give is that if you are feeling this in yourself that one tooth is proud, you should get this checked out. Overloading a dead tooth may lead to fracture/weakening over time.

I have a question .. Why do we have occlusal facets in young adults?
@protrusive
@protrusive 2 жыл бұрын
Hiya! Bruxism in young people is highly prevalent (latest theories include Airway related issues and the usual stress/coping strategy) plus our modern diets are highly erosive - wear facets are the consequence!
