Amazing! My strategy was to let them circle behind allied forces a little bit further and then charge with cavalry. That way their retreat path would lay through infantry square and in 2-3 cycles they will all be dead. But your tactic seems to be more devastating and somehow less cheesy

Just realized my main issue against them. The AI is the commander until I can become more established. Early game battles against them are daunting, and NEVER trust the auto resolver

If your a low levelstill on the player your tactics is low so you lose more in sims

@@raymoney21 I mean when you enlist in their armies, and all they do is "archers in the rear, infantry up front, horses running around like crazy" until the khuz or aserai are done butchering them with superior cavalry.

I might actually try splitting the cav, even tho I haven't really faced any problems against Khuzait just by stacking my Cav on the left and just smashing into their horse archers when they reach bow range.

in most of the cases you dont have any problem going with a one-sided cav. thing is that sometimes the battlefield, unusual ai behaviour and/or the input brings you to mess up something. therefor -if you do have a big ammount of cav- i split them. you are totally right that stacking your cav is good enough, but there is no safety if things are going unfortune. please tell me what was working out better for you in case you give it a try!

@@swally0ne479 in my current playthrough I'm playing mostly infantry to bring spice and challenge. Though I'll likely mount up against khuzait, so when that happens, I'll probably try it out.

It took me a LOOOOOONG time to get an army of 400 Khans .. now ...everything gets wasted. The good thing about these battles is not the overpowering element, it´s the speed at which the battle is over. I hate playing with Empire forces at times as the AI digs in a corner and it takes ages to cut them down. Khans make short work of holed up forces.

how can u form ur army formation before battle start? sadly when i start attack or defense it go right into the battle and dont let me fix formations and i have to that in the battle so its not so much i can do

that feature has been introduced in the 1.7.0 version of the game this january. you might need to update your game =) have a great weekend!

how u split your troops? like u do on cavalry on 2 groups

you activate the formation you want to split. then press f3 -> f5. klick on the tile where the splitted troops should go to. the tiles match the troops activation number. you will figure it out!

Having 5 infantry groups in square works better, a few squares with spears and shields works best, you have 3 squars in front, 2 in back for rear charges while your cav cuts their horse archers down your archers in the middle with your companions defending the middle flanks like a pentagon each point spears in square with shields, archers 2 columns left and right inside, companions and you in the middle to clean up the ones that get through. I've doke this in big battles works great

Easier way is to command your cavalry to follow you.... rest is the same! (Y)

it's definetly something you could do! i dont recommend the follow command because it's less accurate as you have a rattail behind you, that makes you ride into the horse archers first. it makes you more vulnerable and gives you less control over the whole situation. you can only use it if you have a horse.

all of this is good except for skein formation if you look at strat guides tests for example skein is just worse than its counterparts

thanks for your message and sorry for late reply, i was on vacation! the skein is especially for the aserai faris. it prevents javelin throwing block. note this was before 1.8.0 damage changes and as you can see this is a more specific scenery and not for 500v500 custom battle on paper fights.

I played M&B for a while now. Playing for a few weeks. Then stop, repeat over the years many times. Had multiple epic and long campaigns. I always play Khuzait. Yes, I agree, the Horde Archers were op. But every other patch they nerf them. And now I come back after like a year or so... and the AI and Accuracy has been reduced to such an insane level that getting horse archers feels nearly pointless. Standing still they cant even hit archers that are in front of them. And if you give the attack order what happens is about 30% run RIGHT into the shield wall and nearly instantly die. Again, a nerf is one thing. But as they stand now even if I was to micromanage and get them to come behind the target ? They cant hit anything even when standing still. And when they run and shoot ? Lol... Quite sad to see it tbh..
