THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT SAILING - KEEPING THE WATER ON THE OUTSIDE! Installing new Port lights. www.sailingnandji.com
In this episode, Nandji has gone back to where she belongs, in the water!! It has been a long road to reach this point, lots of hard work, lots of stress and lots of determination to be able to sail away from Malaysia. We have been fortunate enough that our host country decided to extend our visas, giving us plenty of time to prepare for what lies ahead.
Lets recap on the all boat work that was completed in this short time frame since Tallula was born and we have been back on Nandji. Beginning with the first job of installing new port light in the aft cabin to stop all the water leaks!
If you want to check out the port lights we installed and more products from marine depot direct, be sure to check out their website at www.marinedepotdirect.com

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! Now completing our second major refit, Nandji is ready for the world when the world is ready for us!!!

It always amazed me everytime you guys would mention that the dolphins had to go. I always thought they were a great accent to your boat. But everyone has different tastes and I think they would look great in the v-berth of my 29' Hunter! I can't remember how long I've been watching, but yours is one of the few channels I watch every one. I think it is because of your honest presentation of everything. Even when it gets rough, you show just the right amount to give me an idea what you are going through without all of the pretentious drama some other videos give. I don't post connects very much, I don't want to repeat myself with the same thanks so the time. But I do give out likes and truly appreciate the amout of extra work you have to do to bring us along. Hope the next few weeks are uneventful and you have a smooth passage back to Oz and get reunited with Marley quickly.

Great video thank you! The boat looks great. Little tip when you put tape on the drill bit to regulate the depth leave a little "flag" sticking out. When you reach the end of your drilling the flag whisks away the dust telling you you're far enough in.

Hey mate.. just a heads up. when you use screws on the exterior, Apply a tiny bit of sika to the pre drilled hole before securing with screws. The only place water could and will over time penetrate the wood will be at these points .A dab of sika will help seal it.. great work as always!! Port Holes look sick!!!!

Can't believe you didn't put a decent bead of sealant on the inside flange of those stainless portlights! For those sorts of fittings always seal both sides AND all of the screw holes ob both sides too. Better get on top of that before too long mate or you'll have water ingress for sure.

Screwing into timber should be drilled oversize and then filled with epoxy and then another smaller diameter hole drilled into the epoxy. This prevents water leaking between screw and timber and rotting out the timber.
