It really is the greatest bit of SmallRig kit EVER! :)

I do like the concept of these when I first saw them pop up...but when using Cine glass...i need rods for a follow focus. I have basically made my own version of this with small rigs really small V-Mount plate, 2 very small rods, and their base plate with a quick detach arca swiss plate to easily remove my FX30. Its basically exactly like this product, but with some rods for my follow focus

I love using it because it's just a two step process to remove and switch it between cameras. It's incredibly easy to use and compact. In combination with a modern v-mount with plenty of ports I'm also not missing a d-tap splitter or the likes. Great overview!

I love the idea of this plate, but I'm incredibly frustrated that SmallRig's own cages won't mount to it. The Tilta cages fit a lot better.

Nice one Palfers! Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets excited about battery plates!

Thanks. I really like something when it just works. Even if it is something this simple. It’s amazing it took this long for someone to come up with this style of design.

This is my rig almost exactly for my BMPCC stuff. I can switch between handheld, tripod and gimbal in seconds. The tilta cages have the built in slider plate which makes it even easier. Great stuff!

Yeah I’ve got the tilta cage on the fx3 with jt

Beware, this SmallRig 4064 ONLY accept SmallRig "Arca-Swiss" base plate and SmallRig cage. Any other base plates will not work (e.g. Peak Design, Ulanzi, Pgytech). It is not a true Arca-Swiss Clamp, with a design that block non-SmallRig products.
@VictorMBG176 ай бұрын
That's true. I made the same mistake. Btw Pgytech arca swiss plates are compatible.

I used a random base plate and sirui cage. Works fine. No loose items. Locks down tight. Sony a6700. The sirui cage alone works too. Slides in and out fine, locks down really tight.

Works fine with the tilta cage and the ronin Arca-Swiss plate.

Nice! Exactly what I was looking for - Are a few of those B-Roll shots in Cornwall? Looks like a place down the road from me!
@JonathanPalfrey6 ай бұрын
Haha no. Most of it was on a resort in Athens. There’s a couple of shots shot in Cockington in Torquay.

That's the rig I want, so tiny and small. Got an as73 and need to do a bit more jigging to get anything similar.

Just did a video on this with my rig I use a Tilta cage on my channel, so I had to get the one with the quick release.

I love mine. I leave it on the camera sometimes and forget it's there.

The only thing that it needs that i really wish it had is power pass through. That way you could just swap batteries without having to replug D-taps
@JonathanPalfrey2 ай бұрын
That would be a cool future ‘pro’ version. Hopefully they’d figure out a way to keep it compact

This looks like a great combo to go with their new vmount battery! May I ask - what are those awesome red cables you're using? I need suitable usbc and hdmi cables for my Video Assist and these look perfect!
@JonathanPalfrey6 ай бұрын
It's one that was recommended for the Atomos Ninja. I've added the link in the description. It's nicely made.

@@JonathanPalfrey thanks , do you have a usbc recommendation as well? Good enough for external BRAW recording? Those red ones of yours are v cool

I would not trust that sony e mount without lens support with these heavy lens you are using as even my 24-70 have some flex on the mount and saw some pics of the mount getting rip off by just holding a 70-200 gm :/ be careful

How do you mount that monitor on the handle? Love to know cheers
@JonathanPalfrey6 ай бұрын
It’s the Smallrig monitor mount with the ARRI locking pins. Best one I’ve used so far, il add a link to the description

does this work with canon C70

Yeah, nice way to extend out the c70 a bit without adding too much height

You’ll need rods for a follow focus tho
@JonathanPalfrey6 ай бұрын
Personally not a fan of follow focuses, when handheld I prefer holding the lens if shooting manual or using autofocus if it’s an interview etc
