I just got one and it works great and is awesome for cleaning up those rough lumber pieces. Takes barely a minute per side but the end result makes it worth it. Wish I had it earlier.

I wouldn't say I was moving, but nothing wrong with having several platforms. Some tools are just built better than others for certain applications 👍

1:34 One of my blades sticks out more than the other, so on 0mm it's actually removing more like 0.5mm but only with one blade. :/
@ChampionsOfTheTrade2 ай бұрын
You can adjust that using the bolts that hold the blades in place.

First time use, same thing... On 0.0 it should remove nothing right?

Can you reduce the chamfer depth by the planer depth knobb?
@ChampionsOfTheTrade Жыл бұрын
You can, but that test run was on a 0.5mm depth so it was almost on its lowest setting.

Just go over it again to go deeper

Just did a hardwood 40 years old stair step job with it. If you put it on 0.0 it's still a bit deep which causes difference in depth. 0.0 is still like 0.3mm. To carve the lines of I just used it as a plunge saw. Lift a bit and smoothly lower the plane. After I sand the surface with a Dewalt ordinary sander. It would be way better with a belt sander which I don't own (yet), but it was still an awesome result. 4 hours to make 13 stair steps like brand new.

Did you try adjusting the blades in the spindle before using it? FYI Makita have just released an 18v and 40v belt sander.

Useful video! I have the same planer and when I try to plane small pieces of wood I find I end up getting trenches and uneven spots although I go with the grain and only take small increments off at a time. Any tips for better finishes?
@timdodsworth7388 Жыл бұрын
This sounds to me like planer snipe which can happen if the planer isn’t flat to the surface (left/right; front/back). If you’re working on smaller pieces try adding supports around the piece to make sure you have a flat reference surface.
@mattseymour8637 Жыл бұрын
@@timdodsworth7388Ok thanks for the advice. How do I add these supports and where do I add them before beginning to plane the work?

@@mattseymour8637 you could clamp the guides either side of the piece you wish to plane.

What's the screw knob on the front of the machine?

It's for holding the guide rail that slides in through the hole on the side. 👍

Difficult to adjust blade

In what respect? by turning the adjustment knob, or when it comes to replacing the blades?
