Hey there! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others.
We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and adventure instead and started our sailing lifestyle adventure stories, since then, we’ve been working hard towards achieving our dreams, and now we’re finally living them as sailing cruising lifestyle!

The content which is even good if the snubbet broke while reversing quite a speed but the good thing is that the anker is set 😅👍. Cruising is nr 1 and sharing through the vlog is nice but not nessecary! We love to see what you guys are doing . It can’t be great every day 💪

I, personally, don't care where you sail. I enjoy traveling and sailing with you wherever you go. My dad was fixing up an older wooden sailboat so he could sail in the keys and Bahamas. Hurricane Katrina destroyed that boat and then dad fell ill. He passed away without ever living his dream to sail and live on his boat. I now live vicariously through sailing channels. I just want to see you happy and sailing and going on adventures. Please don't make videos to please us because we're happier watching you when you're enjoying yourselves. Seeing you and Nick stressed is hard to see. Just have fun and go where the best winds take you. Love the new boat!!

take this as you will.. I watch you because I'll never own a catamaran and I'll never get to sail around the world. I love just watching the sailing, not necessarily the destination but the journey to get there. In this episode I could have watched far more of Nick fixing the anchor thing that broke; I have no idea what it was, what it does, why it's so important, what was needed to fix it or what that fix was. My guess is that you looked at that fix and it was just one of those simple things you think no-one cares about but honestly, watching how much goes into maintaining a boat is always going to be better than some b roll of the perfect beach. :)

Ok, Nick, you invited comments 😉 100% agree with you. Sailing can teach you to let go of your plans and go with the flow. Teresa, it’s inner resistance to what is, which is causing you discomfort and suffering, not what’s happening. Judging things as success or failure only adds to that suffering. And see how much happier you were when you stopped doing that, went with the flow and got the screeched up. Yay! Well done you 🥳

@@jameshodge694there are many reasons people choose to sail and/or live on a sailing vessel, to be honest. But it's an excellent opportunity to learn not to resist what is and discover that happiness is right here all the time, when we stop covering it up with stress, worry, regret, wishing things were different, etc, etc. That's what I was trying to get across. Teresa and Nick have an awesome life experience living on board RR2! But the mind can still manage to mess it up if one isn't vigilant. So it's a great chance to discover this by self-reflection :)

I would say relax and chill out and stop worrying about putting out episodes so frequently. What’s the point in doing it if you feel under pressure and are not enjoying it. Just look at what’s going on in Israel/Gaza, do you really have any problems? Take a break until you can get things in perspective and start enjoying what you have.

I think that outsourcing as much as you can in the making of the programs will make things beter for you and beter for us. For example, I love Capt. I've mentioned this before, please dont take it as trolling......but......it really looks like you are attaching the mantus bridal claw backwards. The video is not very clear but do you have the claw end/head toward the anchor. Everytime i see you attaching the bridal it looks like you are pointing the end of the claw toward the boat......this appears to be backward, so when you apply tension on the bridal the claw rips off the chain. IMHO I would enjoy watching how you come to terms with the new boat and document how you grow into this new home, programed travel vlog part is less important (secondary). All the best with your new adventure.

Teresa I love the fact you have a plan of where you want to go and what you want to do, it gives you a direction to travel in, but as a fairly new sailor myself the way I like to look at that is like a battle plan. I want to go somewhere and do certain things and I work on that happening, but battle plans rarely survive intact with contact with the enemy. You need to change with what is going on around you. This video is the perfect example of that it doesn't mean you have failed far from it, it shows you adjusted your plan in accordance with outside factors to give you a more pleasant sail and still made great content a good example for anyone to follow! Fair winds and following seas.

I've followed you guys for many years, from the very early days when you sailed and vlogged for pleasure. But like many other vloggers, as their subscriptions have grown the unrealistic sense that you need to produce bigger and better content takes over, then everything becomes a chore and the pleasure subsides. Both of you have to be happy first and foremost from the pleasure sailing gives you. We love that you share your experiences with us, but we don't need to be with you every step of the way. Nobody forces people to vlog their lives every week, fortnight, or month, that's a personal choice. Therysa, I follow a number of KZbin channels. Yours is one of only four that I have gone back to the ‘beginning’ to watch EVERY episode. This is because of you and Nick and Ruby Rose (1 & 2). I enjoy sailing and have wanted to sail around the world since I saw The Dove (1974 movie), as a child. I’m not able to do that myself, but very much enjoy following you and Nick on your journey. I follow you and Nick, because of YOU and NICK! You are such a beautiful person, filled with love, humor, hard work, and dedication. Nick makes me laugh with every episode. You make me smile and feel appreciated (as a viewer) every episode, simply for sharing who you are as you sail the world. Please, don’t get caught up in believing you have to produce specific content each week. I enjoy just being a passenger on Ruby Rose II, with you both, whatever it is that appears before you each day/week/month/year. Much love and warm wishes for fair winds and following seas.

hey guys, I use that same Mantus bridal(not a snubber) system. it looks like you are hooking it onto your chain backward. hard to tell in the video but it looked that way. the "hook" side should point toward the anchor. I've never seen that Mantus system just pop off like that. In fact, my rubber strap has broken off long ago and we don't even use it. if properly sized to your chain it will stay hooked on. when you weren't pointing into the wind and the boat was perpendicular to the wind that is a clear sign you are dragging. Other telltale signs of dragging are if your bridal is "twitching" like a taught guitar string. The other tip I'd give is use Phyllis Nickel & John Harries method of deploying an anchor; which is to dump your chain all at once. don't try to pay it out slowly as you fall back from the anchor. I'm assuming you are using a Mantus anchor too. and I've found that method to be almost foolproof for getting the anchor to set.
@olavthyvold2288
@olavthyvold2288 9 ай бұрын
I'm hesitant to say categorically that the Mantus hook is on backwards but that's what it looked like to me too. All the load then goes onto the strap first which it was not designed for. Again, hard to tell watching the video but that was my first reaction watching you put the hook on. Love your videos. Totally agree about cruising and schedule. Having a schedule is the quickest way to make sailing a chore.
@nickcaballero6556
@nickcaballero6556 9 ай бұрын
We've been using the Mantus hook for years - a thousand anchor deployments. We go through a strap about once a year. The strap is for when when the bridle will drag the bottom and dislodge the hook. Like a few episodes back, it looks like Nick is still placing the hook onto the chain backwards, i.e, the claw is (incorrectly) facing the boat when placed on the chain, which unhooks from the chain when deployed, breaking the strap. The bridle has to essentially fold back on itself and THEN the hook is attached to the chain with the claw facing out towards the water.

@@olavthyvold2288 i went back to watch the video from a month ago that @nickcaballero6556 mentioned and in that video, you can see the hook is absolutely on backwards. And there have been comments in other videos pointing that out. Hopefully, they see these comments and in regards to their anchoring issues they could solve those issues by properly attaching the claw in the right direction and deploying the anchor correctly (Phyllis Nickel and John Harries method)

I, personally, really enjoy your videos. I think, like everything in life, when things become routine they start to get tired, even if the content changes. Sometimes, a break or a change of dates can lead to a revival of interest. Beyond that, when the videos are presented like in television series, in a sequence of certain times, the sense of reality disappears under an artificial and staged feeling. good luck to you. have fun And don't worry about the spectators, they will have fun with you, when you have the chance and desire.

Hi Guys. We had great anchoring success attaching our bridal to the chain when using a soft shackle. We attached it by passing the shackle through a chain link and back to a loop in the bridal. In your case 2 loops. Less wear on the boat as it comes up and down and is a simple and easy way to attach / detach the snubber. Once you get the correct size shackle the only other issue is wear but as you know dyneema wears well.

I’ll second that but suggest you leave the shackle joining your two bridles in place and attach that to the chain with a soft shackle. Or, get a claw from Ultra Anchors, their’s works well. Also, we use a safety on the chain in front of the windlass. It’s a claw on a beefy piece of dyneema to a cleat near the windlass, we hook it on the chain and then pay out chain until there is slack in the chain coming off the windlass, that way, if the bridle fails, the anchor load is carried by the safety rather than the windlass.

We’ve had a mantra on our bridal for the last year. Only time it has had an issue is if you connect it backwards.

Ditto on the soft shackle after many hardware failures. Been doing this for the last 2 seasons in the Med. using a self made 8 mm dyneema soft shackle in a 10 mm chain. Suffers alot of abuse and never failed. Good luck

Going to comment right now whilst I'm feeling it...Long time outdoors chap here - because I love the "elements". The first thing one must learn is, WE are NOT in charge...the elements are.. we are there at their sufferance and must bend to their whims, it is a privilege, not a right to be doing our activities! Be happy, gang! 🤗🤗

You two won our hearts over with the very first videos, f bombs and jokes coming from every direction. I’m sure there was a plan at the time but it didn’t seem to bring you down. Don’t let it now and don’t worry about us. We’re not going anywhere. It’s the simple things in life that please me the most and I’ll wish that your way as hard as I can. Thanks for sharing. We so appreciate your efforts in all respects. Merry Christmas and happy holidays.~ J

We follow because of you guys. You are worrying too much. I appreciate your concern, but, don't take on the stress. You're over thinking it. I've watched channels that have turned back 2 hours into their sail. No biggy. Have fun.

The best content is that which is created spontaneously and not planned. Nick has the correct attitude. Just chill, enjoy, sail, cruise, film when you need, and just relax. We follow you because of who you and and what you have done. Don't feel pressurised all the time, as then the enjoyment wil disappear and it will become a chore.

As I watched your discussion about destination with Nick, it occurred to me that there's a difference between 'goals' and 'plans'. Goals are far more flexible, while plans are exact and far more stressful to accomplish.

Absolutely agree with Nick - if it isn’t fun change the plan. There is no point in bashing into rough conditions if you don’t have to. If the weather doesn’t fit the plan, change the plan - and that could be stay put. Just show us another day in paradise. We’ve waited this long with you to get RR2, we can wait another week for the next destination.

1. Watching Nick when he is a little agitated is always entertaining. 2. "Adapt and Overcome" is a brilliant mindset. Anyone can do it. 3. Just take us sailing. Not everything has to be story boarded. 4. I'd either develop fool-proof hand and arm signals or buy mic'd up-headsets. Clear, concise and effective communication between the bow and the helm during critical functions will make your lives a lot less stressful.

The charm in your channel is when you do stuff..any stuff. Living g vicariously through you is my only goal. If I were sailing right now, id want to go wherever the wind takes me. The last thing I'd want to do is be on a schedule. Pretend we're with you for the ride. We are not children requiring entertainment...well maybe, just a little, but it doesn't take much to entertain me. I just like the voyage..where ever it takes us. Do what you would normally do if you had guests on the boat? Chatting, enjoying the view, troubleshooting, sailing eventually. Honestly, half the entertainment is watching Nick lose his 💩.

Terysa, first off, you are a gem and you are important just as you are. Your videos of where life takes you two are what I, and I think many others, want to see. Nick is correct, you sail to enjoy sailing, not to make plans. My oldest daughter introduced me to a wonder saying, "Life is the messy bits." All the best!

Sailing is going where the wind will take you safely and comfortably. If you set deadlines on destinations, a motoryacht will be more suited. If you or Theresa feel uncomfortable, then pushing for a destination is just wrong. No apologies needed. Just go with the wind and seastate

There is a discovery that I realized as a motorcyclist that you need to be in a very special place mentally to truly enjoy what you’re experiencing, I called it being in the moment, not anticipating the future or dwelling on the past. I would know if I reached this because the physical element of the machine would evaporate and I would feel as though I was floating. Even though I have done little sailing I suspect this holds true in this activity as well. ( and many other activities)
