Always some asshole in a powerboat. Second, after sailing and diving around Greece. I have found it is mainly sand and seagrass. The dark patchy spots are often just seagrass that you can still anchor in just fine

This is open water. Its free game out there. Are container ships supposed to stop? Wait for every little boat to pass before moving? That would be tons of spoiled food. The world does not revolve around any person. Get over yourself. You could see them coming from miles away. Literally...mmmiiillleeesss!!! Yet, you caught an attitude because you couldn't put the effort to steer into the wake?! Really? I know you have a ton of experience. I have crossed oceans as well. Sometimes instead of blaming others, look more closely at your own actions first. It also appears as they are under power and not at sail. This was avoidable.

Hi guys. I hope that you see this because it will save you some grief. I have the same anchor and I had the same swivel as you. I am absolutely convinced that It is the swivel that is keeping your anchor from digging in - it is too heavy. Since removing the swivel, the SARCA Excel has been absolutely marvellous at setting and resetting.

Consider adding a D ring at the center of the tent and attaching spinnaker halyard for raising the center like roof. Works well. Attach the corners to lifelines with bungee cords that can be adjusted in length

A tug boat passes close to me like it's plowing the water, on the St Johns River. My sailboat got out of control because of the wake. He or she shouldn't have a Captain's license.

Hey so maybe I'm just super ignorant on how your sun shade works .. but can't you just clip it higher on the mast to increase the length of the center line?

I'm afraid I didn't make it 5mins, a whingefest I could do without. Imagine, actual waves on the sea, unbelievable, and you could have avoided the rocking almost entirely with a momentary 45⁰ course change, who'd a thunk it. And yes I sail and have a few Med seasons under my belt too, so I'm well aware that there are other craft around and the entire ocean isn't there for my sole pleasure.

On One's marque, there is often a loop in the middle to attach a halyard to lift & tension the centre.

No doubt about it, cats are more comfortable than monos, until the seas get really big, then they are scarier. Big RVs or converted highway coaches are also more comfortable. I can't get into sailing cats, especially hand steering there's just no groove like a mono. It's always going to be a compromise, and the none self righting of a cat makes me not want to be offshore in one, gusting to 40 with shortened sails should not be scary

Where I'm at, I have to deal with vomit rocket dolphins tour boats on the ICW. Those inconsiderate b _ _ _ _ards throw a 5 foot wake and will pass less than 10 yards away. I've reported them numerous times for their unsafe operations by a professional captain, yet they're still in business.

Sound like the turn buckle of your anchor is not working, hence the turns in the chain throw the anchor on its side, or if you are lucky it positions itself correctly. Not sure what anchor you have, but for a cat I would spend the money on an ultramarine with connector, those set 100% These anchors are hollow anchor its stainless and the weight difference between shaft and soldi bottom and the shape is such that its self-righting. Even if they were to come lose its sets within a meter. making the risk of ever drifting to sea extremely small. as for costs it varied with weight, I only know 80 and 100kg, those are just under 7,000 usd resp 8500. you may only need half of that weight.

Nice to see you enjoying Greece. Still trying to anchor with way on the boat! Always take off any way before dropping the anchor. Do you have a small tank and scuba kit, just in case you get the anchor jammed on a rock? I had a similar sunshade made in Pattaya. No problem, just use the spinnaker halyard to set the height from the centre point and you don't need much tension on the mast or jib ties.

Lazy lines easy ti tighten. Let off 3 or 4 meters on stern lines motor forward. Tighten lazy lines by hand then reverse 2000rpm to get them tight. Let out enough lazy line to get to the required distance from the quay.
