No More TV and Movies?

The WGA is officially on strike! But how did we get here? Why are writers picketing? In today's video, I go through what the WGA proposed and what the studio responded and why that led to writers going on strike.

Forgot to add, we might as well consider all Hollywood shows and upcoming movies that hasn't finished production frozen indefinitely since besides this writer's strike, both the actor and director guilds renegotiation for their contracts are coming up this year too, and something tells me they aren't entirely happy either since the studios had to make the actors guild a small offer a year or two ago regarding streaming so they don't strike early, but it's still a small offer compared to what they were making previously. I can see them going on strike too. Anyways wish the writers the best of luck. I know writers are like the most screwed over employees in Hollywood history that's the most crucial to a movie since I know they've often been the victim of the now infamous "Hollywood accounting" scam. Which is why the last 10 years or so I kept on hearing those stories of writers taking studios to court to simply get back the rights to their movies since a new copyright law came into affect. Though the "Hollywood accounting" scam has been used to screw over as much employees as possible in the past too. Just look at the lawsuits all the creatives who made the original Lord of the Rings trilogy movies made against New Line Cinema after those films success. Looks like streaming was the studios next "screw my employees" scam they were trying to get away with. You know something is wrong when I'm watching videos and seeing a writer of a successful steaming show saying they only got less than $30 dollars when they're payment came in while indie filmmakers who have movies on Tubi that likely cost less than $100,000 is showing or giving their numbers and you get things like $200+ a payment, one woman saying her movie got lucky and earned 5 figures in one quarter earning to someone showing numbers from over a thousand indie movies and saying some are getting lucky and making 6 figures. Though can't remember if that was one month, 3 months or one year. Regardless that streaming show writer is wishing he can make that kind of money as those indie filmmakers on Tubi.

One more thing. Got to say I'm kind of proud not to be a cord cutter. My main method for watching movies and shows is still a cable subscriber since I live with family, borrow DVDs and blu rays from the library and using the ad base streaming services like Tubi to watch everything else. Little did I know, I was helping writers and employees make money with at least two of those methods.
